doctor is unfun to play against

Dwigtht
Dwigtht Member Posts: 462

When I hear doctor's sound at the beginning of the match, I rush to the killer to teabag them and get killed on the hook faster.

I have no problems playing against other killers. Yep, people say: Legion, Spirit, Hag... They could be challenging, but doctor is OP.

With built-in tracking and stunning in doctors ability, as a survivor I cannot do anything.

With reverse skill check on DS... I miss my DS often. And that skill check is difficult already.

I've heard doctor's ability has a cooldown, but it is almost instant.

Maybe red ranks and TTV players can loop the doctor, but being a green rank, and cannot do anything.

I am frustrated and annoyed.

Thank you, this is a good advice in general, but no... no more doctors.

I will never buy this killer and rather spend my money and time on other killers.

But I watched some videos from doctor mains and from Otzdarva. I have some idea what is the doctor's strategy,

but what this character does just feels annoying to me.

Thank you for sharing your valuable opinion about how should I take an advice.

Doctor can be 100% countered by a pallet or a window.

He is also a Pressure Killer, meaming that you are meant to dislike going against him BY DESIGN. He's ALWAYS meant to be there.

He does have tracking, but there's also an issue to be had from the Doctor player: if I zap 3 people with Static Blast, which one do I pursue?

Also, by giving up the way you do, you are actively sabotaging the rest of your team. Stick around, try to counter him. When you see his hand wave down, jump to a side where possible.

It is hard to believe in 100%. My experience, including what I see in spectator mode and on youtube, shows opposite.

If you are red rank survivor (assuming you have years of experience) -- yes, you have played this game a lot, you know where the pallets are and you have a plan for a loop; and you probably can survive and win.

To me, this is same situation like it was with old HEX: Ruin, when red ranks have no problem hitting skill checks,

but less experienced people were annoyed with that. I hoped doctor is going to be eventually nerfed and free the place

    for other killers.

I am glad doctor is not the most popular atm, but sometimes I see 2 or 3 different doctors in a row.

I've only hit red once, which was last season, and played since Darkness Among Us. I also play this game pretty casually and don't care to memorise all the loops and all that.

However, playing Doctor between both iterrations, as and against, all I can say is that even with his ability to cancel vaults and pallet drops, he has ZERO mobility options. A decent loop against a killer like Spirit or Nurse is the bane of a Doctor. This probably has something to do with his popularity, or a decent contributing factor.

I am a Pig main, but Doctor is probably my second most pkayed killer. His shock therapy is actually easy to avoid if you notice the visual/audio queues. Static Blast is also countered by lockers. You just need to practoce against him some more and you'll be fine.

Thanks to all for advices. Now I am sitting in the locker with Head on the entire much.

It is now a little bit difficult to avoid IDLE crows, but this tech works and I would recommend it to everyone!

Just run Calm Spirit if you hate running into Doctor so much.

you will probaply not want to hear that, considering your response to the last person who said this, but if you have problems against a killer, you should play AS that killer and see how other survivors avoid your power.

then copy their behavior and you will find it to be a lot easier against this killer.

or, instead of learning and adapting, you could also ragequit every time you see one and never be able to beat him.

    its your decision.

Ok I agree doctor is unfun to play against but you're doing what the doctor wants.

AT LEAST loop him around and waste his time and then when you know you're dead on hook, DC before he gets to sacrifice or mori you.

Killers get so pissed off but doctor mains and anyone that facecamps or tunnels deserves it

If I ever run into you I know to leave you on the ground then. Doc is just as op killy unfair funfair as any other killer, their power can be mitigated, and if you know how to counter him then you can be prepared when you hear his terror radius.

So people say doc is not OP (Over Powered) at all.

    Let's count:

    1. He can stun you near the pallet, so you have to be really far away to pre-drop it. You literally cannot stun doctor unless he is rank 20.

    2. Madness 3: You do not need Sloppy Butcher to waste surv time when they mend; just with your basic ability.

    3. Static Blast works even better than Plague's "Infectious Fright". So, you have one more perk for free!

    4. Madness 3 reveals you when you scream

    5. Reverse skill check

    6. REVERSE SKILL CHECK ON DS... which is already difficult to hit

And I did not talk about addons... you know, when your skill check appears in random places; and you still have 4 perk slots.

People who say "no-no he is not OP blah blah", have you ever played against doctor as a survivor?

Were you been successful? I really doubt you were.

This is an old thread but I saw it linked somewhere else and just had to reply because holy ######### there's so much wrong here.

    1. It takes him over a second to charge shock therapy, there's a very audible noise, it slows him down and there's a small delay after its fired, AND after it's been used before he can even swing again. If you're camping medium and small loops against him you're playing it very wrong because that's what he's good at - shutting down loops that are already unsafe.

    2. Madness now keeps its progress when you try to snap out, and the skillchecks were made even easier. Not to mention it sends you back down to tier 1? It buys the doctor like 10 seconds at most before you can get back on a gen, that's nothing considering that's only for one person.

    3. It works better than infectious fright...once every 60 seconds and has a noticeable mapwide startup sound effect. Stealth is the one thing Doc doesn't care about but he's still weak in a chase.

    4. Well, yeah? It's telling you that you should snap out as soon as possible.

5 and 6 idk what to say other than practise skill checks. DStrike is a painfully easy skillcheck to hit, just pay attention when it comes up.

Deal with it and stop ruining people's games just because you can't always get your way.

I'm a Nurse main, and I never found it difficult to go against one.

Believe people when they say it, play the killer and know what he can and can't do.

I did the same for Ghostface, Pig, Billy and it greatly increases your chances for survival.

Yes when playing survivor I agree, but this game is not about having fun all the time. Killer needs to have fun also. And in the end it's about winning.

Doctor is fine. he’s not hard to play against. keep moving, stay out of the terror radius, don’t try to play stealthy cause you’ll just look dumb. against doctor, stealth means nothing. drop pallets early.

He's really not that hard. In fact you already told us you're whole problem: you refuse to learn how to play against him.

No way that a killer that can lock a survivor out of vaulting/dropping pallets, can find survivors across the map, and can send them into a state that they NEED to get rid of before doing anything else is unfun!

I don't understand what was going through the devs heads when they were making Doc and thought any of this was a good idea.

  • Dwigtht
    Dwigtht Member Posts: 462

Nurse, Ghostface, Pig, Billy and any other killer -- those are killers fun play against. Yes, this is totally worth to play one to explore their weaknesses and strengths and also kill some survs with fun on both sides. I respect all those killer players.

Doctor is unfun to play against. There is no reason to play him. Since doctor players know what they do when they pick -- I don't respect those players. Playing doctor does not require much skill.

Okay so as I do agree with many of the people commenting on here, I do also believe doc is a little strong. But solely because of his built in bloodlust assistant.

Y'all realize that the Doc has an AOE ability that pretty ######### much has a range half the size of most maps. There's no dodging that unless you're in a closet or just out of range. And on smaller maps like gideon you literally have to along the outer edge and hope his ass isn't close enough to be hit by it, cause unless he's chasing someone or going after someone slightly closer he's gonna know where you are and get you.

  • SoviDisastrous
    SoviDisastrous Member Posts: 5

They need to at LEAST nerf the ######### range.

Doctor has a short slowdown after shocking, which can usually give you another loop around a pallet. If you think he's going to shock, or see/hear him charge a shock, you can continue running around shorter loops normally due to his slowdown.

Whenever I hear a doctor charging and I know I'll be hit if I don't get that action, I will quite literally mash my space bar and it typically works in time. LOL

Not op. But I find him incredibly frustrating to play against.

    ad19970 Member Posts: 6,442

That's probably his best counterplay. Dropping a pallet or vaulting before he shocks you. I would definitely like to see the devs to make an attempt of making his main counterplay avoiding his shock, but not sure how it would work without hurting him too much.

The doctor's base kit is actually not that good. I didn't find him to be at all threatening to players who weren't yellow ranks.

It's true, if you're struggling with a certain killer you should try playing as them. And isn't the doctor a free character?

  • MasterGrit
    MasterGrit Member Posts: 331

At least he requires more skill than Freddy. Doctor with double detonation addon (0.5s delay) is pretty inevitable.

The addon come with red stain on your back and no restain on Doc's face

Yeah no need for red stain mindgame

    Doctor's OP lol

I have a lot of trouble facing the doctor too.

I plan to get him with shards soon so I can discover his abilities and weaknesses. Seeing the game from the killers perspective will certainly help countering him.

The only real changes that Doctor should get:

Removal of the Shock Detonation Delay Add Ons, those are Bullshit. And not really needed, since his Rework he is strong, but that piece of Buff was not needed.

Something with his Terror Radius. Because of his Terror Radius, he seems to get like a few more meters when it comes to distance, so sometimes I get hit by his Static Blast, while I dont hear Terror Radius. I mean, I am in the Terror Radius, otherwise I would not get hit by the Blast. But because he has a unique Terror Radius, I sometimes dont hear it playing despite being in range.

Well that's pretty subjective bc I like playing against doc and I despise ghostface.
