Why do Killer get hatch priority?

If a killer stands on the hatch you cannot jump into it but if a survivor stands on the hatch a killer can close it? That makes no sense at all. Why do killers get no collision for closing it but they have collision when against survivors?

Since survivors don't get free escapes anymore. If the killer finds the hatch then the survivor needs to make sure they get to a door and be ready for him to close it.

because the killer succeeded in his goal of killing the survivors and the survivor doesn't really need to do anything because they could still be 5 gens up when the hatch spawns. It would be insanely lame if you stomped all game and a survivor could just get out for free because the killer didnt have priority over the hatch.

The reason for this is it stops the hatch stand-off where the killer used to have to wait for the survivor to jump in order to grab them. I remember waiting for 10 minutes one time. Being the last player alive doesn't mean you get a free escape.

If you're in a 1v1 hatch standoff with the killer, your team were massively outplayed; you're not favoured in a situation the killer had to outplay you to get.

Cause a killers goal is to kill.

Because the killer is actually murdering people and the only offensive actions survivors can do is to maybe stun them if they were hooked 60 seconds prior. Lore wise there’s no reason a survivor could stop any of the killers from shutting the hatch. Gameplay wise if the hatch is your only means of escape, meaning the rest of the team died. You failed your objective and there’s really no reason you should get your escape placed above the killer getting their 4k.

Wait you can close it when survivor stands on it?

Twice i can't close the hatch and watch them to escape, and i'm spamming the spacebar. The option doesn't come out

Killer have a larger collision box, so they're big enough to block hatch, while survivors are to small. This is also why survivors cutting corners tightly can give them as small amount of distance.

I guess it’s to keep killer the better 1v1 maybe but if you really want to talk about priority being screwed if you are Pyramid Head and the survivor you down at gate is tormented you can actually make an escaped survivor teleport to a cage while they are past the gate and it seems to bug out and instead of having the normal stages will just teleport and insta kill them
