WHY DO I HAVE A 6 HOUR BAN?
This is absolutely BS I got disconnected because my house had a power surge and I do not disconnect from games EVER so why did I get hit with this ABSALUTE GARBAGE
I know about the stacking ban but that's only if you disconnected frequently and I haven't disconnected for a long time and when I do it's usually because of the storms in my area.

You wont get a 6 hour Ban for Disconnecting once. You have DCed way more often to get such a huge ban.

Not true, I haven't disconnected. I just restarted my console hoping it's a glitch maybe.

I haven't disconnected for a long time and when I do it's usually because of the storms in my area.
You need to calm down and analyze how often you actually have disconnected. My guess is, you disconnect a lot more than you think. Also, I would avoid playing when there are storms if they shut off the power like that. That can damage electronic equipment like your PC - I once had to throw out an entire extension cord because it fried when the power went out. Thankfully it had a surge protector, but I shudder to think what could've happened if it didn't.

I play this game day in and day out since I bought it because my nefew said it was good.
This games great.
But this is weird.
Luckily I play on console and can just switch account to avoid a banhammer but jeez.
Is there a way I can get this checked out?
Like a helpline for dbd?

It's not possible to be banned for 6 hours on your first DC. A few things are possible:
- You disconnect a lot more often than you realize.
- Your last disconnect was much more recent than you realize.
- Someone was playing on your account and disconnected a lot.
Probably more I can't think of right now. Regardless, you will not be able to get this lock-out lifted.

I wouldn't say those are the ONLY possibilities. DBD is far from a perfect game. It would not at all surprise me if the game bugged out and gave him a ban much higher then it intended. I'm not saying it's super likely, just saying it's not impossible.

I will note, however, that such a bug has never been reported. When pressed, people have always admitted to having disconnected a lot more than they claimed.

I agree. Theres so many bugs atm so why not a DC penalty multiplication bug?

Six hours is insane. You'd have to be dc'ing quite frequently to rack up that. So if you are legitimate in what you're saying about rarely dc'ing then its either a bug or someone is using your account without your consent.

You really think this dude would literally wait for every single ban to finish, just to DC immediately? Then just keep waiting and waiting just to make this post to the dbd forums? Nah. That's definitely a bug.

You see I would definitely say someone uses my account except for that I'm signed in from 5:am to midnight everyday (the corona virus had me "let go from my job") so the fact that literally all I do is play dbd wouldn't make sense or be possible for someone to be signing in.
And yes in order to get a 6 hour ban I would have to disconnect every single game everytime my penalty ended and the fact that I really only play this one game makes no sense for me to do that.

one DC = 5 minute ban
two DCs = 5 minute ban
three DCs = 15 minute ban
...
a LOT more than one DC = 6 hour ban
the way this system works is, that when you DC you "level up" - the higher the "level" is, the longer the ban is going to be. these "levels" will not reset on their own, but instead you will lose ONE "level" with ~10 hours of DC free gameplay.
so if you DCed multiple times in longer periodes of time, without having 10 hrs of DC free gameplay inbetween, you will get harsher bans every time.
also keep in mind, this system does count game crashes as "Disconnecting", so maybe your game crashed a few times, leading to the long ban time?
anyway, you can not get a 6 hour ban just for DCing once without having any previous history in disconnecting.

I think the game may not considerate the time you were offline and calculate your ban by the total amount of Disconnects you had.

Thank you and I also posted this in the "disconnect penalty and ban" forum too hopefully it gets noticed but probably won't and I'll just be here in the forums.
The last time I had a ban was last Monday and it was only for 3 minutes I think maybe 5 but that's the last time I got a DC penalty to my understanding.

Guys, in a game that uses third party anti-cheat called EAC that literally detects RGB keyboards, mice, headsets, and can ban you for it..... anything is possible. My razer keyboard got me timedout.

I heard and other people complaining about this after the latest patch.
When the internet cuts off, they get 4-5 hours ban.

That headline is a strong indicator why you're banned. This game's community is extremely sensitive wit h a few things, behavior and language being some of those sensitivities.

Did this headline to hopefully grab attention. Which it has, I don't message people after games or anything like that, it's just moving from one game to the next.
But I agree headlines which spark a sensitivity grabs better attention than one that doesn't.

Yea but your attitude has an effect and it is definitely negative. I'm suggesting this carries over when you're playing games, and you may be experiencing your ban as a result.
Saying nothing in a chat box, doesn't mean you didn't speak for the entire duration of the trial. Actions such as Teabagging, abandoning your unsafe unhooks, crashing every pallet, using head on for any reason, and many more all have an impact on your outward but unspoken communication. I added this to digress, your attitude may very well be suspect in your six hour ban.

Honestly I appreciate the feedback and examination.
As much as I would love to say I do toxic things in-game I really don't. I play killer allot and I play survivor allot, some days I'll play one side more than others.
But I feel teabagging, clicky flashlights along with bringing ebonys with an already toxic build is not the way I enjoy my games.
I appreciate true skill in-game so the better I get the better I feel, I'm not balsy and not cocky in my attempts. I run borrowed time to protect from facecamping or tunneling as I see it too often, and when I'm killer I purposely leave survivors who have a hard time escaping or looping.
This may be a long comment but I want to prove this was a bug not a result of my behavior in-game.
Yesterday as the wraith I brought an ebony right? I have so many why not. There was a toxic claudette doing the flashlight dance so I moried her first hook. The others I felt bad for so I only hooked them I refuse to Mori people who aren't toxic in any way or who I suspect may not be very good.

I've lost internet for a minute during a match and I only got a 5 minute ban. You must have done something big to get a 6 hour ban.

Sure, but when every person who reported this as a bug so far later admitted to having disconnected a lot more than they let on, I dismissed it as a possibility.
EDIT: While yes, it is technically possible this is a heretofore unseen bug, I don't think it's worth considering until if and when OP gives us some actual data about how often they disconnect instead of using vague terms and contradicting themselves in the OP itself.

There is no chance you haven't left many matches prior. Otherwise it should only be like 5 minutes.

I was playing SWF and got disconnected on Xbox, an error message saying the game requires an internet connection (despite my party & stream not being interrupted), then an error message saying there was a game save error, and then all four of us got a 5min ban. Even though one died and two escaped, with me the only so-called DCer.
Soooooo......... what a whole bundle of bugs having a party right then?

If I give you the benefit of the doubt, I still have to point out EAC doesn't randomly ban people for no reason, at least not for such an uncommon amount of time. In my first hand experience being a chump on dbd, most bans start at 3 or 5 minutes, and will push up to 30 upon a repeated issue. I wouldn't know what a third consecutive grievance would have granted me. Most accidental disconnects are going to accrue a very short ban, which will typically resolve at around the same time a conventional PC crashes and restarts. By that time, the trial is not in a state that could allow a survivor or killer to re enter a game anyways, so the 3 or 5 minute bans are typically moot.
Unless you reach out to EAC to confirm the issue as random, there should be a common explanation to your lengthy ban.
If I were in your shoes, I'd reach out to EAC right away, because you've clarified that you don't know why this happened, and as such have no solid explanation as to why (assuming your actions and behaviors are ideal). It's imperative you contact EAC asap because the conditions that made your ban possible are seemingly unknown to you, and if you inadvertently trigger these conditions again, you could be facing a much longer ban or worse, a permanent ban.
If you're going to say you don't do toxic things, the you need to realize how important information gathering is in your situation. Best of luck.

There's a hack going around that lets people give anyone in the match a ban of any length they want.
