Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Small game, Detectives or a map for totems?

I’m a big proponent of ensuring I get all the totems prior to end game to counter NOED, plus points and it’s nice to get ruin or devour early too.

Ive tried each and obviously there are pros and cons which do you prefer IF you use one and don’t just memorize spawns.

Detective and maps show how many are remaining better than small game.

Detective can also show a chest for late game medkit or nearest gens on indoor maps where I struggle to find them.

Maps you can use right away but does prevent bring a medkit.

Small game doesn’t wait for a gen to complete like Detective but it also does y show how many remain.

I like small game cause it helps with hag traps and trapper traps. And I always find the totems.

Detective hunch is good but many times I try to make it to a totem and can't remember exactly where I saw it.

Maps are okay but I dont get them often.

I prefer maps, but sometimes use detective's hunch too. I usually have too many green maps and since you lose the addons after match I can find chests and get an item I want more with detective's. I don't use small game since I hate the sound it makes.

Hunch is the only way to be truly 100% certain there are no totems left.

Detective's Hunch. It's fantastic. The other two can help. But Detective's Hunch easily outclasses them.

Just to add, if you're using Detective's Hunch with a green map then the totems are added to the map even if you don't have any add-ons to track killer belongings. This is my favorite combo ever time there's a totem challenge.

Rainbow map with Red Twine and Green stamp. Bonus is unlike Detective’s hunch this doesn’t take up a perk slot and you can use it anytime you want.

    Definetly Detective's Hunch.

For totems only Detective's Hunch is better as it gives you an exact position of where they are.

Small game gives a bit more utility if you play against Hag or Trapper but its overall way less consistent.

Maps are decent but you have to be very close to the totem to track it unless you are using Detective's Hunch or the area enhancing addons as Customapple0 said, so they are not very reliable for totem cleansing.

Rainbow map can easily find all totems for you. Bringing only a perk then Detectives is best. There should not be any totems left if you have it.

im using small game for over 2 years, its better than detective hunch on almost every map (except the game and newest one)

but if you have no clue about totem spots, hunch might be better (if you get better with totems overall small game will be much better)

before ruin rework, small game was 100000% better because it helped you find ruin (without doing ruin gen), but now since youre not in such hurry to find hex, hunch is an option
