I couldnt play DbD for months.. help :(
Since BHVR decided to remove config file editing but without giving us other tools to optimise DbD for more FPS I wasnt able to play DbD :(
I dont have a really powerful PC, I know that. And I know its easy to say "get better hardware then" but reality is: its not always that simple and easy.
When config editing was possible I was able to boost my FPS very high. I was able to play on my native resolution (1920x1080), 100% resolution and quality on medium. I was getting solid 60 FPS across all maps. Sometimes it dipped down to 50 fps but I was fine with that, still playable.
But now, after they removed the config editing its unplayable for me. I had to turn my setting down to lower resolution (800x600), 0% resolution and quality on low just to keep my 60fps barely hitting. But who wants to play on a tiny little window of the size of 800x600? I cant see anything on it, especially with 0% resolutions its a blurry mess.
I play other games like Half Life 2 (200+ FPS with all settings on maximum and native resolution), Black Ops 2 (140+ FPS with everything maxed native res), Moderin warefare remastered (100+ Fps...).
But DbD, that damn game is unplayable. And I really dont understand why. Why is it running so bad? Why are the consumers doing a better job optimising it (when config editing was possible) than the devs themselves? Why do not have more settings, especially when BHVR disabled config editing?
I really regret one thing: Spending my money into DbD DLCs, cosmetics and the rift pass. I shouldnt have done that. I should have saved the money and get myself a better PC. But I wanted to support BHVR, I thought they would continue making DbD richer with content and better optimised. But they made the optimisation worse...
BHVR, please ... I havent played DbD for such a long time and I miss it. I want to play it. But you excluded me (and many others with low end PCs) out, even tho you always said that you guys didnt want to exclude players (that was also a reason why you guys removed exclusive cosmetics)...
EDIT: Do I not deserve Support? U got a lot of money from my pocket, u dont want to help me even tho I helped you growing since beta 2016? I feel betrayed and it makes me sad....

exactly. The graphics dont match with performance at all. I have many better looking games in my library and the all run much better. And these arent even AAA titles of big companies, some are very small companies and they optimise their games a lot

Update: I just noticed the DLC is out. I downloaded and installed with the little hope that SOMETHING changed, that the FPS are better, that the settings show at least 1 more thing... and I got dissapointed... Still same bad performance and no more settings.. BHVR, why you do this to me?

The problem was that some abused those setting so they had to be locked. They gave way too many advantages which had been documented.
Half Life 2 isn't a great example as its a very old game so practically any pc can run it.

Im already doing that, I play on a 800x600 window just to have some kinds of stable FPS. And lets be real, its not really fun to play on such a tiny window

I totally understand that. But wouldnt it be reasonable that the devs provide alternative ways to improve performance on low end PCs? Idk, 1st thing comming into my mind are more ingame settings like nearly every other game. But they havent provided us with that while they took away the only solution to make it playable on low end.
And yes, Half life 2 isnt a great example. But I choose it because imo DbD doesnt look thaaat much better than Half Life 2 but yet it runs so much worse. And Black Ops 2 (especially Zombie mode) looks double as good as DbD and runs 10 times better on my Hardware.

Be happy that u can hit 60 fps at least. I play on 20 fps :/ (30 if is lerys)

dude im a console player but not just any console i play on the switch and my stuff never looks even remotely as bad as what you are describing. better hardware would be a good idea but i realise that its not easy to get it but thats all i can say.

fullscreen? I dont hit 60fps on fullscreen. If I would play fullscreen I would have 20 fps aswell, if not less

Sorry for the situation but honestly it just might be time to upgrade your rig and future proof yourself for atleast another 10 years.

oooooof thats a big pain in the ass! on thats small window you have that less FPS? Hey let me help you out, maybe I can squezze out some FPS for you. Im researching and trying out to increase my FPS for months if not over a year already. I know many tricks, maybe there is something which can increase yours aswell?

Idk about that. Its a Laptop, so "upgrading" parts is not possible. Upgrading means replacing the whole system :/ And since I have a really good Laptop Monito, flawless keys and every other game running good I dont really feel like spending 1k for a new system just for DbD :/ Maybe Im biased/entitled, idk.. But especially knowing that I was able to run DbD with very good framerate by just editing some lines is a big oooof for me to spend hundreds of dollars now just because devs said "nope u cant do that anymore", u know where Im coming from? + now with corona and stuff price tags are rising while I lost my side job. I have only my main job now so I need to careful where I spend my money.
