I feel like Freddy Krueger isn't as good as people say he is.

Every now and then I go against Freddy in a trial and I'm already like "this isn't going to be bad trial"

I see a lot of people making their own tier list of the best killers and they are always putting Freddy at the top around S or high A and I don't understand. I've always been able to quickly get out of the dream phase he does and because I'm not running around the middle of the map, I go unnoticed the whole game.

I feel like he's not as impressive as the other killers cause he's easy to spot with that annoying strut he does that makes him look like he's about to T-pose. Plus, like the huntress, he has the music that follows him around making him easy to invade.

Are people just ranking him that high because of the generator control he has? because other than that he's not a hard killer to go against.

I'm newer here, so please forgive any ignorance, but I feel like he's a weaker killer. As a survivor he annoys the crap out of me cause his hit box is so large (again, terminology might be off?) but it seems I can hop a window, be on the other side of the map or planet honestly, and he still somehow manages to hit me. It doesn't make sense. It's like that for a few killers but Freddy is the most frustrating one. Minus that, most Freddy matches are a breeze. Just frustrating cause he makes impossible hits.

Just to clarify on his "impossible hits" actual he has the same range for getting succesful hits as all other killers it just you are getting sub consciously fooled that since he has a small weapon he shouldn't be able to get you from a certain points but actually he can.

If you stay awake all the time (which really isn't that hard to do), Freddy is just an M1 Killer that has decent map control with his teleport. He's only really oppressive on smaller maps like Haddonfield.

A lot of people who think he's OP are also the people who sit on the generator while Freddy is teleporting to it, and then get hit... 😛

I'd argue that's less indicative of Freddy's strength and more indicative of VERY poorly implemented buff/debuff math in this game. Those things should all be multiplicative, not additive. 16% and 16% should never equal 32%.

There are 3 big reasons as to why freddy is considered one of the strongest killers in the game.

1.His gen teleport gives him insane map mobility. He can cross the entire map in just a few seconds. Not even Hillbilly or nurse can travel the map that fast.

2.His snares is one of the best chasing power in the game.Just placing one snare correctly can shut down many loops.

3.But his strongest and most problematic part about freddys kit is the passive sleep timer.

The most important counterplay to freddys power is to stay awake as long as possible. In order to do so you need to find an awake teammate, fail a skill check or wake yourself up with a clock and that every 60 seconds.

This gives freddy an insane amount of slow down, map pressure and information (failed skill checks) without the freddy having to do anything for it.

Even if you managed to stay awake all the time before, you will still fall asleep in a chase without the freddy needing to hit you at all.

Using certain perks and addons make him even stronger

He definetely is much much better than you think.

That may be true but he's still easy to invade, I've never not escaped playing against him because of that.

I think what annoys people is what annoys them with Noed it adds another objective so they can’t play gen simulator but thing with his clocks is they always spawn across map from you so if you are doing gens they are in spots you need to do gens at so you don’t three gen so pop gen go to clock wake up do gen there and rinse and repeat

Not to mention his terror radius in the dream world makes it extremely hard to tell where he is

I agree. He's essentially clown with a teleport. His slowdown add ons are nice though.

You do know what makes people regard clown as "weak" is his lack of movement ability, and being able to teleport to the survivors' objective's is one of the best movement abilities in the game.

Gen speed bothers killers because a gen can be done in like 40 seconds as you're just ending your first chase.

He's very good because he's very consistent. He's loaded with passives and his abilities are simple and effective, making it very difficult to screw up.

Optimal survivors will give a run for their money to anyone, barring gross rng. That doesn't change that he's undeniably top tier. He's the easiest and most headache-free killer to play in the red ranks, followed by the Spirit. I don't know on what platform, region and rank you're playing, bit what you're experiencing is the exception, not the norm.

    a) He is the easiest to learn of the Top 5 and is good in every map

    b) The reworked ruin works great on him, because you can fake out teleport and they hop off the gen from it. With surveillance you know when they hop back on or not.

    c) Snares are easily placed and can ruin a loop completly

Then you've played against really really inexperienced freddys.

It’s because he has almost everything in his kit. Information, anti-loop, slowdown and mobility. He’s also short (easier to mindgame) and his terror radius in the dream world is confusing. He has a ton of strengths and no real weaknesses.

That doesn’t mean he’s unbeatable or that you’re guaranteed to win just by picking him. Bad killer fundamentals will still lose you games as Freddy. But the upper limit of his strength is higher than similar killers with less utility, like Clown or Demogorgon.

If I want an easy match, I'll choose Freddy.

Does that make me good at Freddy? probably not lol.

It IS multaplicative. That's why you still have a red bar with Prove Thyself and why you can still use Self Care while under the effects of Coulrophobia.

Prove thyself if it was additive: 1*(1-0.15+0.15) = 1

    Actual Prove thyself: 1*(0.85*1.15) = 0.9775

Self Care + Coulrophobia if it was additive: 1*(1-0.5-0.5) = 0

    Actual Self Care + Coulrophobia: 1*(0.5*0.5) = 0.25

For me he is the best easy-strong killer. I'm using this control-gen build: Surge/Thrilling/Surveillance/Pop, and it's very effective even vs good organised SWF.
