That Hillbilly "cooldown" mechanic, Yikes
Thanks for yet another cooldown mechanic devs. Very fun. It's not like players want to have fun with a power that we can use consistently without any cooldowns, of course not, slap a cooldown mechanic on everything, way to go.

chainsawwing around entire map was a fun thing, will be missed.

From the video they showed, it seems pretty hard to actually cause the chainsaw to overheat unless you go way out of your way to do it.
8 -
It also showed the cooldown is extremely slow and hitting a survivor has massive recovery cd lol..dont be fooled

^ this.
This Mechanic is most likely for those players who are using the Chainsaw all the time because the penalty is not that big, especially when using Cooldown-Add Ons.
If someone is good with the Chainsaw and does not overuse it in a chase (meaning going for unrealistic chainsaws) they will not have that much of a problem.
And it does not look like it heats up much when using it for mobility.

Don't be fooled by what? I saw the same video you did.

This is no small change..billy is going to feel significantly worse mark my words

Again, based on the video, it seems like it won't be easy to overheat the chainsaw unless you practically go out of your way. It heats up very slowly when you are actually running with it.

But when reving it it's very fast I noticed, and cooldown seems to be very very long

But you can still do that. It says in the post that when traveling with the chainsaw if it overheats you are not stopped. You just have a cool down when you choose to stop.
3 -
its not that bad i play billy all the time, from what it looks like its literally there just to stop face campers, and people who dont use hus power for mobility. He still has instant downs, plus a buff to add ons.
1 -
Ehh that change is basically only a problem if you use chainsaw to hard camp having it almost revved up infront of hooked survivor. Same changes (to camping ofc) for LF, devs are nerfing camping potencial of these two instadown killers but in a fair way.
I think it's a nice change and not complete gutting like with nurse when she was getting her "small changes".

It should be the players choice to go for stupid plays like that instead of being cornered into only using their power when it's 100% going to not miss ever. It takes the nuance out of it.

This means you wont be able to immediately chainsaw a survivors who's working on a gen you traveled to, and instead you'll have to wait for a boring and lame ~10 seconds cooldowns, forcing you to go for an M1 instead, on a survivors who's working on gen in the middle of nowhere, because if you try to wait for the cooldowns to finish, they'll be easily able to run across half the map and get to a pallet or a window.

You can if you didn't overheat the chainsaw.
0 -
But that's only if you let the chainsaw completely overheat. It takes a long time to overheat while traveling. Did you watch the video?

If the recharge rate is fast enough to make the overheat a non-issue under normal circumstances then it's whatever.
Otherwise, I think there should be a small compensation buff. They can't buff the charge time and buffing the speed would be a bit redundant, so maybe they could buff turning speed a bit?

Why put that rescriction on chainsawing across the map in the first place when Hillbilly is literally the most balanced killer in the game.
Honestly, it really feels like Nurse all over again with them adding a boring and lame cooldown just for the sole purpose of making the killer feel more restricting and boring so people would play less of that specific killer.
1 -
Im not a Billy players, but the video shows a very SLOW cooling oof.
Gonna have to wait and see, but its pretty hilarious that players predicted this after the Nurse "addon, base kit rework"
1 -
The player still can go for stupid choices. But gets a punishment.
0 -
The restriction doesn't even look like it would impact good Billy players all that much anyways, so I don't see the problem.
0 -
Doing a stupid action already got you punished. Survivors run away when you fail. Adding an extra limit to it was unnecessary for all of the same reasons Nurse was.
Now you're extra punished for failing. Because a slew of negative feedback is really what we killer players want.

My point is that I just want to have F U N with a consistent power that doesnt have so much restritctions to what I'm allowed and not allowed to do.
Imagine if Huntress would get a "Stamina" cooldown system, and you wouldnt be able to throw more than 2 hatchets in a short period of time..... Unless.... that's what they're already planning for her "addon" rework with "a small tweak to her base kit"
Honestly, who in the hell would ever ask to get more restrictions on a power that tell you what you're ALLOWED TO DO and what YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DO.
It's boring and lame, instead of adding this overheat as a mechanic, they should make is a "chainsaw graphics update"
No one wants more of these lame cooldowns added into the game on powers that are fun to use.

Fun is subjective, so you saying you want to have fun doesn't really say a whole lot. I wanna have fun too, but I don't think the change to Billy will neuter that for me.

Well time to play only survivor again. I remember that devs said that chainsaw killers will only get addon update? doesn't seem like it
1 -
Its literally the same cooldown as before.

They never said that.
