Until Dawn
One word: wendigo.

Manhunt
Ah! Forgot Dead Space.
I left out loads of popular zombie games too.

I was also a huge fan of the dead space games. Also I'm not sure if my choice is more action or horror but before Dead by Daylight I put so many hours into Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. It was by far my favorite game series before Dead by Daylight came to console.

Outlast
Limbo?
That's a really odd option, i'd consider it creepy at most, and i was a crap-my-pants kind of guy back when it came out.
Amnesia would've been a great replacement.
Had difficulty between Outlast & Until Dawn, but due to how rushed the last few chapters felt in UD, i'd say Outlast.
Outlast 1 only though, Outlast 2's only good parts to me was in school flashbacks.

I’m a bit of an anomaly for the audience of the game, since I’m a major horror wimp. Always have been. Not one to play things (or watch things) that trigger a fear response from me. DbD came to my attention from a channel I watch playing it, and while it looked too creepy as a survivor for me to enjoy it, the killer role looked like a ton of fun. This mentality and further videos from them convinced me to try it out. I was...a very immersed survivor the first few games I tried that side, but my general enjoyment of the game kept me around.
Otherwise horror doesn’t do it for me - though I do enjoy reading horror plot synopses for some reason, and based off that alone I’d say Silent Hill of the options given. But I’ve never played them and don’t plan to so I feel disingenuous voting for it.

Outlast
Outlast is absolutely terrifying. I took a year plus long break in the middle of the first game because I was too horror-struck to continue but I eventually finished it and it's DLC storylines (there are two if I'm not mistaken).
I bought the second game and I'm doing the exact same thing, it's been a couple months or over a year since I last played and I still haven't finished.

Silent Hill
Other games like Outlast and Until Dawn are scary and all, but Silent Hill will always be the most memorable, mainly because I played 1 and 2 at a young age and I remember how terrifying it was. The atmosphere is insanely creepy and the soundtracks are gold. Even nowadays I still listen to the Silent Hill OST, it's oddly relaxing.

Outlast
Outlast and Alien Isolation are terrifying, Until Dawn and Silent Hill are awesome, Friday the 13th is hilarious.
Also why Limbo is there?I don't think it is a horror game.

Outlast
Yeah the first one was the best with the whole asylum like feel it was terrifying in a way, but Outlast 2 really pushed beyond comfort for me, I almost couldn't play the game anymore after finishing it, it was just to much all at once.

Friday 13th: The Game
I loved Friday the 13th the Game, even thought it had a lot of problems with bugs right from the start. And then the lawsuit just took care of the rest.

The only other horror game I've played is Danganronpa ;;

Five Nights At Freddy's
I'm not as big of a fan as I used to be, but I love the story

PREY (2017)
This game is an absolute masterpiece and it shouldn't be overlooked. Having threats around every corner disguised as innocuous furniture or objects while also having very limited resources to keep yourself alive both make for an amazing experience.

Silent Hill
Silent Hill. Sillent Hill 2 in particular, caused an enormous impact on me. That story is haunting, heck. That game is haunting and immersive af to this day.

Alien: Isolation
I dont even consider Dead By Daylight a horror game lol but alien isolation by a landslide, Dead Space 2 is a close second

Alien: Isolation
I can't choose between Alien: Isolation and F13 game, but I just said screw it and put on Isolation.

I'm a huge fan of Frictional Games. Soma is my favorite horror game of all time and Amnesia: The Dark Descent is another one of my favorites. I'm so hyped for the new Amnesia game due out this year!

Manhunt
manhunt, at the time it was stand alone and pretty brutal

Silent Hill
Silent Hill brought psychological and intelligent horror to the games industry, and no game for me since has ever engrossed me as much as that has. The closest since has been Outlast, but Silent Hill is just special.

Outlast
So glad Outlast was an option. I'd love to see a DBD crossover, but with the outlast trials coming out, chances are low.

Five Nights At Freddy's
I like the scary bear game, sue me.
it's just fun (especially some of the newer ones)

Silent Hill
Silent Hill and Layers of Fear.
I don't really play that much of horror games but these two have a special place in my heart mostly due to their lore.

Alien: Isolation
Alien isolation when it came out I was so excited for. Not only was it a good looking alien game for once but also a Survival horror where rather than being not afraid and blasting them with a gun it really creates a huge sense of dread anytime it was around both with its sounds and music, incredible AI that it used on its own to not be something like other games where it can be found to have a pattern and would change constantly to every input and would learn along the way, and the Mechanics and story of the game really just meshed well to make one of the best done horror games in my opinion.
I honestly wanted to play the game so much but the game built up so much anxiety and fear around the alien and the mechanics of the game like saving along with a driving plot that legitimately interested me that I could only play for so long. No other game has done that to me to this day in horror. My heart has never been so constantly high and beat so hard that after awhile that I wasn’t taking a break to take a break I just absolutely needed to for awhile as like a benefit to me as a health reason. It’s a fantastic horror game and I hope there’s more to come and more like it .

I’m guessing you guys are too young for the fatal frame series? Crimson butterfly was awesome.

Alien: Isolation
SCP Secret Laboratory. Its so tense its amazing. If I had to pick one on the list I'd probably go with Alien Isolation, I'm a sucker for intelligent antagonists.

Manhunt
Not at all. I remember when horror games were the likes of Ghouls n Ghosts, Castlevania and Splatterhouse 😄

I haven’t thought about splatter house in years. I still play ghouls and ghosts and castlevania on a modified console. Horror was a bit simpler back then.

Manhunt
Absolutely it was. I used to get a cosy feeling when playing those old horror classics.
I found Ghouls n Ghosts and Castlevania very tough, they were pretty ruthless games.
The 2010 (I think) Splatterhouse reboot on PS3 was a good game too. Funny to think at one point the Sega Splatterhouse games were peak gore 😂
