Some are really good and other not so good much like many developers of the games they make.

so? he's a community manager. he has nothing to do with balancing or reworking a killer.
Also being rank 1 doesn't mean you understand all killer in depth.

have played against Peanits as killer and on his team as survivor. I think I can safely say Id rather him on my team than majority of randos.

No seriously theyx may be not the greatest but who is. I know many of us thinks theyre gods even they aren't. They're just chillin when the play and like many of us they play how they want and enjoy the game in their own way. Technically most of them aren't that good.
It's like they knew what the play was, but they did sth different.

they only play as survivor in most time, so they don't see how bad killers are already

Peanits has probably 0 impact on balance decisions. He is more like the middle man between mod and actual dev making game decisions.

Well, not trying to say you're wrong but you would be amazed about how many "devs" out there in the real world are not being take into consideration sometimes. Of course, since he's a player (not_Queen plays as well although I am not sure if she streams it) I am sure he's one of the person who they rely on to give input before they release the PTB

I doubt that. I was discussing with Peanits A LOT and he always had really good idea. But I don't see his ideas implemented anywhere. I actually really don't know what his job is in the dev team

But he is Partnership Manager not a designer, so doesn't make the decisions with anything related to that...so it's immaterial how good or bad he is at playing the game anyway.
Quite a few of the designers play, Almo & Jeff are the two that come to mind...they play both sides consistently and have a lot of hours in the game and are both pretty good. And Peanits plays a lot, again both sides and as BHVR works as a team then I think it's fair to say, his opinion is probably listened to.

Unfortunately, in modern times, most devs don't really play their games. By play, I mean really play. This, I believe, leads to a disconnect between them and the playerbase, especially if the playerbase generally has a large amount of time invested into the game. Just because a change is statistically good doesn't necessarily mean that change will feel good to the players. This is what the vast majority of devs get wrong in gaming. Playing 2-5 hours a week is good and all, but you're not going to get the grind and game experience of the person playing for 20-40 hours a week. Not only is the playtime important, but the mindset as well. Devs can circumvent this shortcoming by talking to and watching the best players in the game, as those players are the players that do a really good job of breaking the game. Unfortunately for this game, the devs seem to largely ignore what the playerbase says and they don't do a very good job gauging skill, so taking statistics is all but useless. Moreover, nothing is done to encourage survivors to play killer or killers to play survivors or to combat toxicity in the game and generally a nerf or a buff one way is largely seen as zero sum.

Most of the community think that way anyway. Official word from bhvr regarding that sudden, not communicated nor teased massive nerf to flashlights was "it was in the works for a long time." Mccote being owned live by Koreans and being called a noob in the end chat was NOT a reason to do it asap. Right.

He said once in a stream that sometimes he approaches the balance team about stuff that he thinks is op and they tell him: "No, it is not."
From that quote I would assume that he gives inputs regarding balance sporadically, but the final say has the balance team.

Just because the balance team is honest, doesn't mean he doesn't have control over them. I'm sure he mostly gives them free run, but I don't think the balance team really has that much say on what's screwing up the game's balance anyways. To my knowledge, the balance team is separate from the new character development team or least that's what I've heard. Hell, I don't even know if the balance team the one who do reworks either.
And when you really face facts, the things that are really impacting the balance of the game are swf, genrushing, tunneling, and camping. While they cancel each other out, individually they all have a significant impact on balance. It's possible the balance team considers all that balanced, but it would strike me as odd if they did. I can't help feeling it's somebody else who's saying that's not worth focusing the team's efforts on.

If Almo is really half of the balance team, than I would say the issue seems to be, that the balance team consists of two or three people, so probably they don't have the time to fix all the things that need fixing.
But I don't know if McCote is responsible for how many people are hired for which team, so I wouldn't want to blame that on him without knowing that.
And for who is controlling whom: As long as we don't work there we will never know, but I would give McCote the benefit of the doubt.
As for SWF, tunneling etc: I think some people see it more as a issue to fun than to balancing and SWF for example is rather hard to fix because it's related to Marketing interests.
Like probably the majority of the community I'm not happy with how long some bug fixes and balance changes take, but if they really have such small teams for these areas, I'm not surprised.

i mean, i doubt a majority of the devs really play dbd outside of work
working on a game 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for 4 years would definitely make you not wanna play the game in your free time

How long is "a long while now"? Unless it was less than a year, people who's job it is to do more research than me are also getting it wrong.
Of course, it doesn't help that BHVR seems to gotten rid of the staff list from their website and other sites don't seem to have been updated yet.

If you notice his job title in the 3 year Anniversary post @Dehitay you will see him listed there as Head of Partnerships or Partnerships Manager there as well. I do know he's not connected with Design and they have their own people.

The only that I've seen who was decent was Not Queen. She plays an okay Nurse (and is a pretty good survivor). Haven't seen her play in a LONG time though.

Basic word definition. I think we can both agree on what game means and both agree that in this scenario it specifically refers to Dead by Daylight. You can pretty much guess the etymology of director by the similarity to the word direction. The director is the person who determines direction. So the game director of Dead by Daylight would be the person who determines the direction of how Dead by Daylight progresses if you used deductive reasoning.
I really thought my intention was obvious considering how when I used the title game director, I specifically used it with the words game and direction, but I apologize if my intentions somehow weren't clear. But honestly, I think you flat out knew that and specifically chose to ignore it and use the phrase "game producer" even though neither of us had used that phrase at this point. However, Mandy makes a valid point in stating that Cote is no longer the game director of Dead by Daylight for at least a year now. I just wasn't aware of this cause I had never seen it mentioned until this thread.
