Why is it so easy to rank up as killer or is it just me?
Seriously, I have bearly played any killer this season but somehow I still manage to be rank 3. Sometimes I occasionally play killer just to get a break from survivor but I why do I have to go against the same people killer mains do. If I had to say personally what rank killer I was, i would say around 6/7, but i cant get over the fact 3 or 4 good games can get you to rank up. I think the should bring back old rank reset. It also annoys me that if you're rank 4 you just go back to rank 5 at reset.

For me it's very subjective to what time of day you play. If I play in the evening I tend to get very easy games at rank 7 killer, however once it starts getting later and eases into the very early morning hours I get ultimate sweatlords, regardless of rank. Some times it feels impossible to rank up and others it feels way too easy

It’s more so to keep people from dropping into green or lower ranks to bully new players. Sadly, many players in our community play like this.

I find it 10x easier to rank up as killer than survivor, but apparently I'm the odd one out.
Many people find survivor much easier to rank up on.

i'm playing by the survivor rule book for killers, I'm not ranking up.

Same here. I only play killer in the mornings to the evening never at night or like 12am to 5am that's usually when the red ranks show up. With the matchmaking the way it is I have to take precautions as a Killer.

Because ranking up as survivor is super easy, lot of potatoes in reds, makes ranking up as killer easier

One big reason Killer seems to be easy to rank up is that it is hard to derank in general. Odds are you will get at least a black pip in 95% of your games as Killer once you learn how to play. That makes it so you have no choice but to gain rank sooner or later.
Survivor on the other hand. They can lose ranks more often. Tunneled, camped, mori, you name something that takes them out of a game too soon and it WILL lead to a derank.

How easily killers rank ups is based on what killer you play:
You can be afk on legion and probably still pip.
Meanwhile if you constantly keep players broken as the plague then you can 4k and still DEPIP(This has happened to Otz on stream I believe that or Tru(Maybe both)).

I remember seeing that video, I believe that's because he killed them so fast he didn't get the chance to earn points in other categories so he pipped down
I think the emblem/pip system is in dire need of a rework, it feels odd to want to not end a game if it's very much in your favor to allow the other side to recover enough to ensure you get enough points to rank up.

Depends on the killer, and unlike @The_Bootie_Gorgon I do just fine with letting survivors have a turn at playing the game. Easy Relentless for majority of my games.
Then again, two of my top 3 most played are Pig and Legion, who I also specialise in slowing down the game.
The secret here is that if you let them heal up a slugged target, then you get more emblems for hitting, chasing and gatekeeper.

Killer emblems syngerize with each other making it easy to gain emblem score for multiple emblems. Survivors have to do different tasks to get their emblems up for pipping.
The real reason people say Survivor is easier to rank up is because it's harder to depip as a survivor as survivors have lower thresholds so survivors who get boosted to red ranks tend to stay at red ranks instead of depipping to where they belong.

No ... Its situational. Especially with how broken matchmaking is (still) it really is very random, you just got a string of inexperienced players. I keep getting 4s and 5s in my 15 rank games. Its not "easy" for me to rank up. However that is okay too. I think people put too much stock in the Rank system honestly. This is not an Esport, its not regulated as a competitive game so there is really no rhyme or reason to the rank. I have seen rank 20s who play like pros, just like I have seen rank 5s play like trash. Its all subjective.

Hell, in the Anniversary stream, even the guy that is working on the MMR system and had a segment on it admitted that the ranking system is more indicative of time played than skill.
And when I can be gone for a few months and come back to DbD as a fully decked out Rank 20 Killer . . . yeah, the ranking system is absolute trash.

I generally don't let people run away. I have however, planned on streaming killer to see how far I can rank up without deliberately killing anyone.
Probably going to play Legion for that one though.
It should be theoretically possible to do quite well with zero/minimal kills.

The luck of who I face plus the time day seems to factor with me. If I play on a Friday or Saturday night, the odds of facing SWFs vastly increase, and it is a lot harder to rank up. Other times though are good times to rank up. It's just the luck of the draw really.

For me is ranking up as survivor the most easiest thing in the world.
The only reason i depip is when i get facecamped on the beginning of the game otherwise I either pip or double pip.

Legion is the best pippers because of the amount of hits they are able to get per match. Get to rank 1 on nothing but legion hits. No hooking, no killing.

It’s because you’re decent at the game. If someone has a problem pipping as killer that’s just a yikes.

If it is, then I didn't read that part. The only "rules" that I adhere to are against tunnelling and camping because I have been on the receiving end of them too many times myself.
And hooks are a vital part of pipping, more than kills. My challenge is no deliberate kills, try to rank as high as I can.

The only things I don't do are tunnel and camp. I very rarely slug too but sometimes it's the only way and it must be done.
And yeah, you literally need hooks to pip. I've gotten several hooks in games where survivors would immediately heal every time they unhook and I still barely manage to get brutal killer at 2k and sometimes even 3k

Depends on how you play tbh. If I stuck to Pig all the time, I think I could at least hit 5 pretty quickly, and perhaps beyond. I seem best with her so far. I'm leveling all of the killers though, so its been an eternal loop of 11 to 7 and back again for me. Still fun.

It is the survivors you get.
The game takes ping into account and attempts to match you with people near you, so you just happen to live near casual surv players.
myself on the other hand live where there is a small player base and i would say 80% are non casual swf.

How did you do that?! From what I hear it's impossible to rank up because every game is a sweaty 4 man swf. My mind is completely blown right now. I swear if you say your games don't last less than 4 minutes then I'm calling you a hacker.

I've been playing this game for about a month. For the first 2 weeks I played pretty often and for the last 2 weeks until about 4 days ago I haven't played. I am currently rank 2 with 3 pips on killer. In 3 days I went from rank 10 to 2 and will easily get rank 1 today in a game or two. I feel like this game is way too easy to rank up as killer. Idk if I'm just a natural at nurse or something, but I literally got rank 9 in my first week of playing the game. I haven't played a lot of survivor but find that way harder.

The Emblem and Pip system could definitely use some work, but I think it's because the objectives for the killer all kind of work into one another. Hook a survivor and you have points for brutality and chaser all from that one interaction. With 3 or even 2k you're probably going to end the match with the Gates closed which is Gold Emblem for gatekeeper I think. For a survivor to reliability pip up, they need at least a Gen, Totem, Unhook, Heal, and Chase I think. Each one is fairly compartmentalized which makes it harder to get to every one of those in a single match. If that makes any sense.
