How the recent gen speed can be fun for SURVIVORS?!

!!!WARNING!!!

I am not a Survivor main, I actually play both sides and completely understand the fact that the Killers can be easily demolished by gen speed against amazing swf teams. In this post I am just complaining about how the repairing feels as solo Survivor sitting in red ranks.

HOLDING M1 HAS NEVER BEEN THAT BORING and lack of objectives.

Although all the gen speed nerfs developers have done so far are justified in the term of balance, all the changes have deepened the problem of the Survivors' main objective been very boring Let's look on how the gen speed was in 2016:

  • Repairing one gen took 70 seconds instead of 80.
  • Great Skill Checks gave 5% bonus to repair progression, not 1% like now.
  • Survivors had no any penalty for repairing together, now the penalty for each Survivor is -15%.
  • Also, Killers did not really have slow down perks.

Again, the gen speed was TOTALLY BROKEN AND UNCOUNTERABLE. However, it was not that butthurting for Survivors due to repair time being not that big. And hitting Great Skill Checks was something very satisfying. Also, with the sabotage mechanic which allowed to break hooks permanently (WHICH ALSO WAS UNBALANCED AS HELL), Survivors had plenty of things to do. The gameplay as them was a lot more interactive. What options do Survivors have now?

  • Focusing only on repairing (gen rush).
  • Cleansing Totems which mostly a prophylactic action. You can break all the totems and cpend so much time for nothing because Killer did not bring any Hex perk. If you do not use one specific perk called "Inner Strength", cleansing Totems does not give you anything other than Bloodpoints.
  • Sabotaging, like flashlights, is very situational and unreliable.

Although the number of actions Survivors now have is more by 1, the quality of them is very questionable.

Simply decreasing the gen speed is an easy solution, and extremely lazy. Due to lack of useful interactions and secondary objectives granting a great reward for their completion, and camping/tunneling being a common strategy right now, Survivors in most scenarious are forced to sit in one place and skillfully hold m1 to escape. How interesting and exciting!

UPD: I forgot to mention Killer perks directly affecting generators. They provide Killers with really nice tools to counter the gen speed and gain more time to deal with sweaty swf teams. I understand this, but I am sure there can be more ways other than impacting the most boring action in the whole game in a negative way. For instance - Survivors' Objectives overhaul.
