Terror radius idea for Pennywise. Reverse terror
Hey guys,
I just had this crazy idea of how Pennywise terror radius could be different from other killers.
What if it worked the opposite way to the regular terror radius?
Outside the 32m survivors would hear a regular heart beat (not too loud), and as Pennywise got closer, the would start to fade away, until it went completely silent, meaning he was right on top of you.
I believe this would help inducing more fear Into the survivors, which is the whole concept of Pennywise.
Do you think it could work? Would it be good?

That sounds pretty incredible. Maybe have some other sound along with the heartbeat. I'm not sure. What a grand idea though.

I have to vote no. I love the idea, I truly do. But basically, you’ll NEVER have a terror radius. That’s too OP for a game already struggling with balance issues. While nice to see it’s be one of the few things killer sided, it just cannot be allowed.

Sorry, I misunderstood. You were saying his TR would only be non existent if he was right on top of you. Even better, ignore everything I said because I apparently have literacy issues, your idea has my support, apologies.

This idea would be insane, and I would LOVE to see it paired with a power that can scare the ######### out of survivors!
But a change that big, you now have to think about TR perks. Most would probably benefit, like Unnerving Presence, Coulrophobia, Diversion, and Stake Out. But some would be butchered- BT would be practically gone, Dark Devotion would nullify the abnormal TR, and Furtive Chase/Monitor&Abuse- how would that work? Not saying the devs can't do it (what with PH overthrowing a ton of hook perks) but it's interesting from a gameplay perspective.

Basically, whenever you stop hearing the heartbeat, it means you're INside the terror radius.

Everything is kept the same.
The only thing that changes is sound.
Inside his terror radius would be silent, while outside you would hear the regular heartbeat.
Unhooking someone while there's no heartbeat would proc BT the same way.
The position of his terror radius remains the same, just the sound is shifted.

A normal killer terror radius starts with a very subtle heartbeat that grows louder as you get closer to the killer.
This terror radius would be the opposite.
It would start with a regular heartbeat, and it would slowly fade away as you got closer.

If it's the opposite you'd always hear a heartbeat until the killer approaches. And if the killer finds you, I'd presume the silence would be broken with chase music. So constant noise.
Or is it like Pig approaching? You start to hear a heartbeat then it goes away? Dunno. If I heard that in-game and it wasn't tied to an activated ability, I'd chalk it up to the audio being wonky. Or the killer circling the area; not beelining towards me.

If I try to imagine it, the terror radius audio would have to be like Circus music or something like that. Some sort of music (like whats used in any of the movies, new or old) which is technically soothing/fun music but there is something off about it. Something creepy. Like Pennywise himself. A clown is technically supposed to be fun/relaxing of sorts. But there is something off about Pennywise (well thats just clowns in general, but Pennywise especially :P). Kind of like the idea of it working across the map but dissapearing when he gets close. Something that would usually let give you relief (unless playing vs a stealth killer) but now thats the time for terror.
But the reason I would want it to be a bit more calm or relaxed music(despite still being creepy) is, if you have played vs Legion when he uses his Iri button add-on. Holy ######### my ears are just abused by the constant barrage of loud audio.

Having his TR reversed would throw off every survivor instinct for veteran players. I love the idea.
