Can't remove camping from the game? How about BP compensation instead?
The devs tried to slow/stop the sacrifice progression while the killer is within a radius of the hooked survivor in the PTB, but survivors abused this and it was never implemented.
Instead, the same system should be used to award the hooked survivor a portion of points that their teammates earn while they are camped (instead of halting the sacrifice progress).
If I'm going to be stuck here and act as bait because the killer is walking circles around me, strategizing how best to prevent my unhook and plan out the different escape route scenarios I might choose once unhooked, I should get Distraction scoring event equal to a portion of other survivors' actions (seeing as I'm refusing to attempt to self-unhook / continuing to struggle, and buying them the time to perform their actions).
This does several things:
- Survivors will suicide on hook less often
- Killers might camp less often, knowing they're just giving the hooked survivor more points by doing so
- Other survivors will make better use of their time while a survivor is being camped, knowing that even if there's nothing to stop the killer from camping they can still try to get the poor fella some points
- Killers who want to camp to be toxic toward a specific player will have to camp further away if they really hate the person and don't want them getting any additional points
----
"But killers will use this to justify their camping. They'll feel free to camp knowing that the player was duely compensated for it and can't complain..."
Killers who want to camp will camp, and they can use anything to justify it. You would rather see the camped survivor continued to be screwed over, just so that killers don't have one more "reason" to camp?
- "I saw scratch marks near the hook"
- "I didn't see 3 auras with BBQ"
- "There's a loud gen nearby that I kicked. I know someone's close"
- "Survivors have been unhook-rushing the whole match. I know they're just nearby waiting"

This i think is the best wat to handke it

I agree, there you be some sort of compensation. Distractions points would fit the theme of staying on the hook as the Killer has to wait longer before leaving the hook.

I've said this on posts about punishing camping. If they give %gen repairs and distraction points it makes it worth it to stay on the hook. Have it be enough to safety pip. Right now survivor on hook, especially if solo, has no reason to not speed up the hook process by attempting escape and then not struggling. Currently they might get struggle points but that's really not much. They definitely end out losing a pip which just feels like waste of time when you could be looking to get into a new match quicker if you just attempt escape/don't struggle on hook.

Well, all 4 of your listed reasons are actually valid reasons that killers stay close.
So I dont really see your point in trying to use those as a "shame" tactic to say campers are gonna camp, here is why, and then list reasons that GOOD HIGH RANK killers would use to stay close.

"I'm not camping, I'm patrolling..."

I mean, if theres a reason to patrol, why WOULDNT they?
Do you expect killers to just wander blind for you? Because they dont for me.
