as killer how do flashlight stuns work?

the reason im confused is somtimes when i get blinded while holding a survivor im forced to drop them while other times i get blinded but the survivor stays in my hands. whats causing this difference?

    If they blind you before you finish your pick up animation you dont drop survivor, if they blind you after you oick up the survivor you get stunned and drop them.

    God I remember the update where at anytime you got blinded or pallet stunned you'd drop the survivor no matter what.
