Is Oni OP?
im asking from a killer POV. I recently finished DBD for me personally (I wanted a good perk set on every killer) and Oni was the last one I had to do.
So heres my build I came up with:
BBQ (always good but actually extremely useful on Oni)
Monitor and abuse (synergy between Discordance and Infectious fright) 40m screams and easyer first hits on people)
Infectuous fright (fast downs are easy if people are close to each other)
Discordance (finding two people at the start is extremely powerfull! i try to get two people injured and then down someone whos full health to create maximum pressure at the start of the game)
So now to topic: Im rank 1 and I really dont lose with oni.
When I have a bad game its me to blame because i missed a demon strike or used my power at the wrong time.
There is no problem downing survivors with his abillty, its much easier then M1ing.
You get your abillity pretty fast and if the enemy team is unlucky and makes some mistakes the first use of my power will end in 4 slugs.
His "downside" is his early game where he is an M1 killer without power.
what you need to get your power?
either 2 hits on two full HP survivors
or 1 hit and some patience.
DISCLAIMER!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS NOT A NERF/BUFF POST
I only want to know what survivors CAN do to avoid his power.
Sure they could drop pallets early and dont let them hit you at all so he never gains his power,
but if you are not a 4stack SWF who knows what they wanna do, its hard to pull this strat off.
So pro survivors: what do you do against an oni who knows how to use his abillity?
I was once a billy main, but on ps4 the curving was kinda weird for me plus he became lame over time. But His chainsaw was way harder to use then onis dash.
Im interested in your strats against oni guys, let me know :)

They gotta understand when to hide and when to not make a risky play while being chased, cause it can cost them a lot more for a lot less.

if the oni is good enough, there’s not much you can do against his power.
of course, you can try to position yourself well and try to be really unpredictable, but a majority of the time it doesnt work.
though, i could be wrong. i dont go against good Onis that frequently to really learn how to play against his power to a top level, but it seems borderline overpowered from what i’ve experienced so far

I found out that he actually does good against survivor "meta plays"
So when somebody with BT or DS makes a risky play the oni gets more blood on the map, also its kinda to not heal wich leads to pools of blood on gens.
And even If adrenaline pops, he has an insta down.
Yes unbreakable counters slugging a bit, but not for ever.
So this "meta playstyle" makes him even stronger.
Maybe thats why hes good to begin with. Could be that hes weaker to other perks.

He's a good killer, definitely A tier, but no where near overpowered personally. Good survivors can dodge his demon dashes and demon strikes, and many great ones can do it consistently. The match up usually ends with the better player winning.

I just unlocked Oni as I always get whooped by him when I face him as a survivor.
Mad props to those of you who are good with him because he is WAY harder to use than I expected.
I'm sure after some practice, I can hopefully get good with him but my last game had a survivor take pity on me and gave me a kill (2nd game I've ever used Oni).
I'm Red Ranked 1 damn it, I shouldn't need survivor pity to get a kill :D

I think Oni is fine! He's practically a Billy that has to earn his Chainsaw except, survivor's have some control on when he gets his power by simply being god tier looper's and not being injured!

The oni is probaly one of the most balanced Killers in the game.
Only infectious fright might feel unfair on him. But that's the only thing i can think of.

Not really, he has a bad early game but damn he compensates with by far the best power in the game once its active.

As an Oni main, he's not. Don't greed pallets early game. Whenever you hear him activate blood fury, scatter and hide until his power runs out. Go into lockers if necessary, to avoid infectious.
I understand why he can give issues to soloq. But a team of knowledgeable players should be able to beat him consistently.

Pallets stuns don't break him out of his power like it does all the other killers. In that sense, it's unfair. I agree with infectious being a little OP, but I think that's more of a gripe with the perk than the killer himself.

you delay his power, drop pallets early and dont take risks the longer he doesnt have his power the less snowball potential he has
