Devs, This Needs to Be A Priority
This is what the majority of my killer matches have looked like for the past couple months. It’s no better when Solo Queuing as Survivor either. This really isn’t fair to all the new players and it’s not very fun to play against ppl who are just starting to learn/play the game.
I noticed it’s not as bad when playing on my Pc or Switch but it’s horrible on Xbox right now since DbD is on Game Pass. This is going to scare a lot of new players away.

Yep, my first post was that the MM needs to be the highest priority. I quit playing for a while because it was so frustrating

I always end up apologizing to the killer when I go against someone that's clearly new. :/ I always feel extremely bad for possibly ruining a new persons first experience of the game.

Question. How long do you wait for a match? Because I usually don't get those ranks. I am red rank too and I get matches pretty fast.
Are you waiting like a few minutes? Maybe that's why. But I couldn't explain why you are forced to wait that long if that's the reason.

yeah this is what I'm afraid of. It's painfully obvious when survivors have 20 hours in the game vs 2000... and if the MM doesn't get changed but rather disguised, it's STILL going to be frustrating, maybe even more. Now you can see at the end game "oh my teammates were rank 18... I'm less mad at them and more just frustrated with the MM". But if they just hide ranks? New players are going to get FLAMED. Even more than they do now.

Nah, I just show em when someone tries claiming it only happens to one side or its proof that theres not enough players on one side. I had someone recently going on about how they mustve been SWF and screwing with the system to go against low ranking killers.

My Killer wait time is usually between 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Survivors queues for me are like 8 minutes.

Been happening to me too. I was a rank 14 killer going against a 17, 3, 1, and 1 on the survivor team.
I stood absolutely no chance of winning let alone even putting up a decent fight. No matter what I did, they were right there with a flashlight, hopping in a locker and then stunning me as I tried to catch someone else or just endlessly looping me around a wall. If I gave up on one survivor, I'd just go off and encounter the same exact thing somewhere else. I stood no chance of winning, they knew it, and they behaved in a very toxic manner because they knew they could.
Another time, I was introducing two new players to the game. I was a rank 8 survivor, playing with a rank 5 friend and two rank 20 noobies. We were matched against an 18 killer. Me and the 5 were able to do the generators with no problem, run the killer when needed, help and guide the new players. They didn't really learn much because for the most part they could safely sit on a generator and just do that while the other two of us were able to do anything that was needed. It wasn't super fun for them and I can't imagine it was for the killer either.
I really don't know much of a solution though, because SWF is going to skew the numbers dramatically. I feel in cases of SWF though, the higher skilled player and the ability to communicate should weigh the balance towards the higher player, not an average and definitely not towards the lower player. In the first example above, the killer should have been towards the 1-5 range to give that team a challenge. In the second, a level 10 killer should have been the minimum, and even then it would have probably been survivor lopsided.
I feel the wait times have also been quite long, especially on the killer side. 5+ minutes seems to be the average, which is a fairly long time to then be put into a potentially lopsided match.

Why are you punishing rank 20 players? It’s quite easy to determine the rank of everyone you’re going against. Matchmaking will never be perfect, ever. However, you make the game enjoyable for others, and maybe teach them something along the way. Getting a 4k vs a team like that can’t be satisfying (and if it is...maybe it’s time to play a new game)

The best thing is, they want to introduce crossplay but only for friend invites so swf gets more popular.
And as I stated in another thread this might screw the console player since they are limited with their turnspeed with a joystick against mouse, on killer as well as survivor.

So what, just let them live along with 60% of the other new survivors I've been getting paired up with for the past 2 month? While I feel sorry for them I'm not going out of my way to help a new survivor(when I'm Killer). Calling me a bully for just wanting to play the game isn't fair.

From my experience on Pc I don't think it'll be that big of an issue. I play with an Xbox controller on my PC acct and don't have too much trouble unless I'm playing a killer that depends a lot of turnspeed or aim like Oni, Nurse, or DeathSlinger. I haven't had too much trouble with killers like Huntress.

Well it may be just my preference or feeling but I don't like to play first person games with a controller since it always feels harder/slower to turn.
Since you are playing with a controller, how hard is it for you to handle 360s from the survivors? I go 50/50 because I get surprised or mindgame myself to hit in the wrong direction.

360's can be a pain sometimes usually I'll stop and wait while their spinning to line up a hit. I usually only have trouble when playing killers like Spirit who have short Lunges.

Based on the community survey from a few days ago, the devs know this is an issue. It's kind of hard to not know matchmaking is busted if you play DBD. However, I doubt they'll fix it anytime soon.

No, don't worry about that.
We have to implement killer and perk changes that no-one asked for before even fixing the broken state of the game...
EDIT: Just had a game where 2 red ranked survivors were talking trash to a green ranked killer. With this rank system broken, it only discourages people from playing the game.

Every killer (aside from T1 and T3 Myers) has the exact same lunge. Some might look shorter (spirit) or longer (freddy), but that's just the animation. The actual hitbox is identical.

Yeah I never feel bad for killers, but when I went against a rank 19 or something deathslinger with only hex: retribution, I couldn't help but feel so bad.

We all know the matchmaking is currently pretty bad, but let's give them some hope and faith. I mean, im not a programmer (even i know a bit of it) and im pretty sure that the MM expands his search when he's not able to find people in that range. What i don't really know is if the MM counts the ping, region and/or hours of the current user when doing that kind of search.
Reading a bit of the topic, found that the developers wanted to add an "internal" rank to do the pair ranking. Maybe that should make things a bit softer while the issue is currently on?

A while ago I had to create a new account for dbd and I had to start over. I got red rank killers when I'm rank 20. I wasnt noticing it because I was usually red ranks on my old account, but as soon as I got to red ranks I was going against rank 20's. I would let the killer kill me because I can only imagine how mad they were.
