System to Avoid Specific Killers?
We're getting to that point where we have a variety of killers to choose from ranging from terrible to over powered in terms of balancing and different abilities to use but should we start suggesting a system for survivors to prevent being matched with 1 to 2 or even 3 killers on a list such as a "ban list" of a sort.
Other games have such systems like if a player would not want to play on a certain map (Rocket League, as an example, you can choose up to 3 maps to avoid playing on.) or if the player wanted to avoid going against a certain character (Rainbow Six Siege "ban system" before a game you can pick what operators you don't want in the match to be played, up to 2 characters.). Implementing such a choice would affect gameplay and matchmaking whether it be choosing from the options on what killer you don't want to play against or some type of banning system in a random game or SWF game. This system could allow a player to choose up to 2 killers they want to avoid being matched with and to ensure that this does not completely affect matchmaking the player CAN still be matched with the killer but it's less likely that they will.
This would need some polishing if done but after a couple games I believe it would be a great idea. I am by no means a bad player but I also do not put enough time into the game to be considered the best, but with how matchmaking is unbalanced via being rank 5 and being put with rank 16+ teammates or rank 1, 2 or 3 teammates and then being put AGAINST low or high rank killers I realized that certain ranks the opposing player choose specific killers who are considered unbalanced and personally I do not enjoy constantly being put against same killers almost every match when I have high rank teammates.
This does not affect perks, obviously, the killer can use the teachable perks from other characters so it would not be unfair and it should not, like I said before, completely affect their matchmaking or time to find. It would be just a small implementation to lower chances of being put against specific killers.
Please leave feedback if this is a great or terrible idea and give a genuine comment rather than the "You're bad get good" excuse.
I have not heard of any other discussion with similar ideas or if this is planned so I just thought I'd put it forward either way.

Yeah, no. Due to the asymetrical nature of the game, even if survivors could only avoid two killers each, they'd be able to avoid well over a third of all killers as a whole. Just learn to play better and provide feedback to the devs.

Such a system would some be the same kind of bad idea as the suggested system that would let killer opt out of playing against swf. It would increase lobby times even with the possibility of ignoring the feature after ample waiting times like you said.
Also this would lead to additional outrages by killer player since it feels like catering to the bigger survivor part of the community without compensating the killer side at all. (Yes I myself am a killer-only player)

Sure, but only if i as killer get to ban perks too. Survivors get 4 killer bans (1 each) and i get 4 perk bans.

Sounds like a great idea if Killers (really everybody, including solos who get used as bait lol) also get an option to avoid swf, or indicate who is within a swf group while in lobby so they have time to dodge, or to at least add those players to a list that tries to avoid matching them together in the future.

That's way too hardcore than what I suggested. Banning something completely throws the game out of loop I brought up how it should just allow them to have a lower chance to avoid a specific killer but if a ban system comes to play I would assume it would be something less than a whole 4 perks and less than 4 killers.

Fine then, give me a system to "avoid" dead hard and DS every game too. Although the reality is if you do, it means i won't get matched in a single game, because those damn perks are in every single game.

Not counting the dlc killers yes but even then 2 is enough and like I said it's a lower chance not completely avoiding them entirely.
Also "Just learn to play better and provide feedback".

I almost never see dead hard at all and Im rank 5 as survivor and out of my 16 games today I've only seen DS once and for dead hard I was the only person to use it in 3 to 4 games compared to my teammates. More than half of my games were teammates below rank 8 as well so it's been a variety of players not a specific group.

I agree but I would say give an indicator if there is an SWF to dodge rather than avoid them like a ban list would be a good idea. Although for queue times I would not know how to fix those yet because survivor at any rank I get instant matches but killer so many people play that it takes almost 30 minutes every time to find a match.

Let's be honest the most dreaded killer atm are Freddy and spirit (maybe doc since he gives survivors).
So what about the people that to play the overall most hated killer, do they get their lobby search times increases several times because most of the survivors don't want to play against them?
Punishing the minority side of an asymmetrical game to cater to the numbers side is a sure way to kill the game sooner than later.

you get what you get and you don't throw a fit

What platform? I see DH and DS almost every game and suspicious amounts of spine chill while playing Piggy.

I play on pc and am killer-only ranging in rank around 10 since I don't play this game all the time. I see on average 50 % of the 16 survivor perks bring meta/second chance perks. It is astounding that this is seemingly the case on nearly all ranks. Sometimes you get survs with no perks at all and sometimes 4 purple metas.

Theoretically if the majority of all survivors choose to avoid 1 single specific killer it would most certainly increase match finding but this is a minimal suggestion not affecting gameplay completely like I've said it would lower chances for the killer to be matched not completely take them out and survivors can still be matched against them. If you believe this would be a game killer then you're definitely not thinking about this at all and just commenting first hand what you see.

If this idea was in place survivors would literally only fight Clown. Instead of holding survivors hands they should play the game and git gud.

Not even reading or thinking about the discussion at hand and just presenting what you think with "git gud" congratz you just showed us what type of dumb player you are.

I play on PC and see crossplatform players console and pc alike DS is a top tier perk and DH is good but literally not everyone uses it.

4-SWF each with 1, 2, or 3 killers on their ban list. That's 4, 8, 12 Killers they won't have to face, can you see how that's not a good idea?

I'm Nordic EU PC player playing red ranks on both sides, mostly on killer. DS is most common and and DH and adrenaline are close seconds.

and can you see how that's completely what I wasn't talking about or suggested at all? Did you read the full thing or just saw "ban list killers"
"This would need some polishing"

Then what does "a system for survivors to prevent being matched with 1 to 2 or even 3 killers on a list" and "allow a player to choose up to 2 killers they want to avoid being matched with" actually mean then?
And I'm sure you know that some things cannot be polished.

If i ban DS, BT, Adrenaline and Unbreakable, i doubt i'll ever find a game as killer
1 -
No offense, but that is because you are rank 5. Wait till you get to rank 1 and play with everyone in the game having thousands of hours. You are gonna see 3-4 DH and 2-3 DS every game.

So what happens if I make a 4 man swf, we all block 3 different killers each, so that we only get paired against 40% of the killer roster, predetermined and easy. "Hey guys let's go fight some pigs, legions, bubbas, and Mikeys so we can play ineffectively and bully them for playing who they want to play"
1 -
The wait times would end up spiking from the game trying to find a killer thats not on any of the 4 survivor's ban lists. A 4 man SWF for example could end up basicly halving the killer roster by banning 8 killers if each of em can do 2 each.
1 -
The wait times would skyrocket. This alone makes this a terrible idea.

Queue times for survivor are already long

On the one hand I love the idea because I would love to not see either Freddy or Ghostface for awhile. I see one of the 2 of them in nearly half of my matches. On the other hand I have to realize the fact I see them so much means if I banned them my lobby times would go through the roof because I would have eliminated 50% of the people that play killer.
1 -
They can do this when there's a system to avoid SWF groups :)

Just no.

@Peanits Do you mind deleting this discussion for me please? I'm new to this but I looked up how and was informed I had to notify a mod. My reason being people are not discussing or giving ideas but instead just straight up saying stuff like "yea no this is a dumb idea" etc. etc. I was hoping for more ideas/feedback or to piggyback and build ontop of this idea but what I've discovered is that alot of people get offended by the mention of change and exaggerate their salt.
Thank you if you get this message.

That isn't what you suggested at all. You literally compared it to a pick + ban system like in siege. If you were strictly speaking about an avoidance system, you shouldn't have even mentioned that.
And I'm sorry, but no. I don't think it's reasonable for Survivors, who have no unique qualities per character, to stop me from playing with a Killer I paid money to unlock and level.

I literally gave multiple solutions and siege was one of them. I did not create my entire discussion over a siege suggested ban system that was just one of them I gave out to see if anyone else would give out ideas or to build off of them. What I'm getting back are toxic and sensitive comments from people who exaggerating and being very defensive about an IDEA that hasn't even been put into play yet. I see comments and discussions constantly saying Survivors are over powered or Killers are over powered from various ranks even the highest ranking players and no one at all gives a solution on how they think could fix that.
By the way the discussion is literally "System to Avoid Specific Killers?"
