Legion is stronger, easier to play, and less interactive than Spirit

Phase Walk and Frenzy are comparable. Both give speed boosts, have a long cooldown, and achieve 1 damage state on a single survivor. The difference is Legion's Frenzy has 0 counterplay. He can see the survivor, vault windows and pallets, and know exactly where the survivors are with killer instinct. Basically once he goes into Frenzy and the survivor is within range that hit is guaranteed. Spirit cannot see the survivor, has to take into account windows and pallets, and gives off that she is phasing from a greater distance.

Legion is stronger than Spirit for a few reasons. Legion:

is 115 ms, which is a massive advantage

has a stronger power. Frenzy has no counterplay, can damage multiple survivors, applies Deep Wound, and gives information

Legion is stronger after ending Frenzy compared to Spirit after ending Phase. Consider the situation where both killers are chasing a healthy survivor. After they get the hit and their powers are on cool down, they are same killer except Legion is a 115 ms killer. WIth the double post-frenzy cooldown addons for Legion, Legion actually ends Frenzy closer to the survivor than Spirit. The attack cool down is 3.2 seconds. Frenzy cool down with double addons is 3 seconds, so Legion is 0.2 seconds closer to the survivor.

Legion can get free pallet drops in Frenzy by waiting at the pallet

Legion can Pop the Weasel a generator than catch up with Frenzy. This is a strategy that OTZ specifically mentioned using

If you watch Otz's VODs when he was practicing Legion, he basically got 3-4 kill every game at rank 1 with no addons proving Legion is a fully capable killer. I doubt Spirit could achieve the same. This is the VOD https://www.twitch.tv/videos/638323493?t=00h30m27s I think (didn't check all of it).

If anyone is wondering what my rank is, it is rank 1 killer.

Edit: as it seems people are still in disbelief, I have made a record of the amount of kills Otz got in this VOD as Legion at rank 1 (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/638323493)

No, Legion just has a much, much lower skill floor. So it's simple to pick up and do reasonably well for anyone.

Spirit has a higher floor, but a MUCH higher cap. Once someone is decent with Spirit, they're a powerhouse.

I 4k with Spirit with my eyes closed. Mind gaming is so easy with her just by standing still at a loop or pallet.

I always get gen rushed as Legion. Maybe I am just not good with Legion but they feel weak to me vs good survivors

Yeah, I’ve watched Otz play Legion and he’s very good. That doesn’t make Legion better than Spirit. Any success he has with Legion he could also have with Spirit, and he wouldn’t have to try even half as hard lol.

Thank you. Gods, I needed that laugh.

But I'm still a little frustrated, so I'm going to go murder a few lobbies with the apparently-weak ghostie gal.

Just because Otz performs well with him doesn't make Legion a top tier Killer. Just makes Otz a really good player.

I prefer Legion over Spirit. Obviously one could consider Spirit more powerful, but I dont find her fun to play. I prefer Legion and I have both p3ed.

thats just my opinion though, every player will have different preferences. But I choose Legion over Spirit daily because I play Legion every day but havent touched Spirit in a year

    "Legion's Frenzy has 0 counterplay"

spread out, power becomes useless, becomes an m1 killer. if you are close, run in a straight line away or juke them.

    Yikes. Just yikes.

Legion is generally seen as one of the worst killers in the game for good reason. Their power is nonlethal and incredibly punishing for misusing it. Just because Otz got a couple of 4Ks as Legion doesn't mean anything, Otz is one of the best killer players in the game, he could reliably 4K as almost any killer. Legion's power has Counterplay, if you spread out it becomes useless.

He’s not stronger but yeah he’s easier to play and less interactive for sure.

Am I being swerved? Legion stronger than Spirit? In what universe.

Spirit is less loopable, has better map pressure, and better chase potential. If the Spirit opens her ears and just listens then it’s very hard to counter a Spirit.

With Legion just pallet loop them. You can’t actually down survivors with Feral Frenzy. This isn’t 2018 Legion.

Their Frenzy gives survivors Borrowed Time and a sprint burst and they are basically playing tag with the survivors. It’s super uninteractive and tedious. Not strong whatsoever though.

Legion HAS to slow the game to halt in order to have a chance. All Spirit has to do is track well and quickly end chases.

Legion is low tier and Spirit is top tier. I don’t see how anybody can logically think Legion is stronger.

Have you... played as Legion and Spirit to be making these claims?

"know exactly where the survivors are with killer instinct"

This only works in their terror radius even then, after the first hit, what are they going to do? Like there's so much wrong in this post its not even worth going over it all

The mistake here is the idea that random rank 1 survivors aren't, on the whole, boosted. They are. The entire meta of DbD at a high level is "play wounded, rush gens". What do you think that means for a killer whose only power is to wound people easily, and has no way beyond regular chasing to incentivize a heal? No counter to pallets? No nothing?

Legion sprints halfway to the kill and crawls the rest. Spirit sprints, takes a moment to recharge her power and sprints again. That's not the same vs skilled loopers.

True. Both killers punish a specific health state. Legion punishes healthy survivors but has a hard time downing injureds. Spirit is the other way around which happens to be the more efficient way. I do think legion is a bit underrated, not strong but certainly not among the weakest.

This is just not true at all.

Legion eats a 4 second stun that removes his ability to see for those 4 seconds whenever he uses his power.

    Spirit has no stun.

Spirit can move farther in base Phase than Legion can in FF.

You can juke a Legion fairly easily, especially on console, they then eat a 4 second stun.

Even if you juke a Spirit, they do not have a stun, so they are right back on you.

If Legion hits one Survivor, but all the rest run away, he will almost never catch one.

I think you are a relatively low ranked Survivor, who has played against a lot of Legions, but has made one fatal error. You healed. Legion's general win condition is that if the Survivors heal, he wins. You will waste FAR too much time healing. Additionally, Spirit is a relatively high skill Killer, certainly higher skill than Legion, so you probably wouldn't find a lot of them at low ranks, certainly none that are good.

There is not a way Legion is better than Spirit, and I am a Legion main who managed to 4K 20ish matches in a row with him at Rank 1.

This is so stupid, I can't even think up a sarcastic remark to reply so as to make fun of somebodies' intelligence.

Are you proud? You literally have me in a stunned silence because of the stupidity of this post, and a showcase that you are not just a clown. You are the entire circus.

I play all killers and do well with Legion in red ranks, and also as solo survivor rank 1 I often have problems going against Legion. I know he is said to be so bad, but I don't think so. I think he is around Ghostface class not very good and not that bad.

You're cherry picking probably one of the best Dead by daylight players to make your point and completely fundamentally forgetting spirit advantages of a Legion.

Spirit moves faster and has the ability to actually down somebody.

Spirit is not punished for messing up attacks Legion is.

Spirit power is considered a basic attack which means it works on all on hit effects which includes exposed.

Spirit have more advantages when it comes to tracking than survivors. She can see scratch marks and hear survivor sounds and with a specific add-ons you can also see blood stains.

This means that despite the inability to see survivors a good spirit can very easily track down where people are survivors you have no way of knowing where the spirit is beside the whoosh if you're not in The Terror radius.

Legion is tracking is purely direct line of sight visual on the survivors and killer instinct they can't see scratch marks and they can't see blood stains. This means if killer instinct is not currently active and you managed to stealth a Legion they won't not know where you are.

Also most importantly and I'll see this again you're comparing a non-lethal power and a lethal power.

That is legitimately like comparing the doctor's shock and pyramid head's punishment wave because they both shoot a floor wave in front of you and both go through walls

If you're going to use Otz playing well with Legion as your point to why they're better than spirit then we should all come to the agreement that Wraith is a top 3 killer because Tru3Talent got like 20 4K's in a row with him, and he said so.

Any killer is viable in this game with an experienced enough player (yes, any killer even Clown and LF), that does not make them top tier or better than another killer.

"less interactive"? I'm sorry but ######### what? Spirit doesn't let you have even a chance of making meaningful decisions, Legion has literally nothing to help them in a chase. He's as basic and interactive as they come as far as chasing goes. Sure it's not that fun or exciting but you know exactly what they can do, which is the fundamentals. It's why Legion is a good killer to learn how to chase survivors better because you have to rely on your skill as a killer, unlike Spirit where you're essentially playing a single player game.
