Rank Resets ?

can someone please explain to me how this stuff works , i was a rank 8 survivor and i got reset to rank 13 , does the ranks reset based off of how good you do in a game ? I need this to be explained to me....sorry if its a stupid question im still learning

    I'm new too, so I'm just guessing... But I thought that you just went back to the closest increment of 5. So a rank 1 would become a rank 5, but a rank 3 would become a rank 5 too. A rank 15 would become a rank 20, but a rank 13 would become a rank 15. So on.

    But maybe we just go back 5 ranks? I honestly have no idea, and some clarification would be great for new players!

    You go back to the highest rank of the previous color.

    Brown: 20 - 17, Yellow: 16 - 13, Green: 12 - 9, Purple: 8 - 5, Red: 4 - 1.

    e.g. Rank 5 goes to Rank 9, and Rank 12 goes to Rank 13.

    If you were already Brown rank, you return to rank 20.
