Mothers helpers thought process

So I tried to see the benefit of this add on and i think there COULD be something to it.

Hear me out:

One of billys perks is lightborne

So I think what the devs were thinking is:

If the player has lightborn and somebody is trying to flashlight a pickup, you could catch the flashlighter off guard with a bit more movement speed to punish the flashlight save attempt.

And i think this is a good thought!

You know, add ons that synergise with killer specific perks are nice imo.

Its the same thought process with the 10 second flashlight invulnerabillity after a stun, it comes handy with enduring for pallet blinds.

So I still think these add ons are trash, but i believe this is the thought process behind them^^

Mothers helpers could actually be good if they tremendously increased the speed.

like if you make it usual speed (115%) while being flashlighted at when picking up... dunno what do you think?

If it gave a speed boost for an additional limited time I could see it being worth using. Ten seconds of increased speed.

The complaint is that the moments survivors use flashlights on a killer is when the killer is immobilized. Pallets, pick ups. Moments when movement speed is not a factor. If it extended to a moment where movement speed was a factor, it might be worth something.

If survivors know you have lightborn however, they'll probably stop using the flashlights.

To be fair, an add-on shouldn't require an perk to be useful. Add-ons are about improving a killer's power.

And even then if a survivor is flashlighting you they move slower so the extra movement speed isn't even useful in the situation you aren't animation locked while being flashlighted.

They could change it to instead of movement speed buffs but killer interaction buffs. Faster hooking, faster pick up, faster breaking of pallets, etc.

I refuse to believe the people who came up with the addons play DbD at any experienced level. This addon would work in one of ten matches against rank 20s who just unlocked their first flashlight in the bloodweb. I know what their thought process was, but only a brand new player would think it would ever be useful.

but well, I suppose a huge part of the players are casual players with below 100 hours of playtime in average.

Thats was the reason for the ruin nerf so... I SUPPOSE it can be fun in KYF.

I still dislike that an Add-on needs the opposite party to use a specific Item.

I mostly get Survivors without an Item at all, then comes Toolboxes, then Med-Kits, and even Keys seem more common in my lobbies.

I would never actively go for this Add-on on my Bloodwebs.

well to be fair, you can see the survivors in the lobby. If theres 4 flashlights some people equip franklins, same would go for add ons like this. You can equip them if needed.

I think add ons could be usefull for specific items that survivors bring if the add ons would do something^^

    Sure, that's one advantage.

The downsides seem to outweigh the upsides for me though.

There could be no Flashlights in the lobby, so you don't take the Add-on.

But they could easily find a Flashlight in the trial, and now you can't take advantage of that.

I don't see Franklin's Demise comparable to this Add-on btw, that Perk works with all Items, it'll work on any Item the Killer could see as problematic.
