Crossplay... Is it time to just allow game chat?
Lets be honest, the main reason most are excited for crossplay is shortened queue times and being able to play with friends on other platforms. With that being said, one of the best parts of playing with friends is communicating with an individual or more that you like. Lets also be honest about communication in this game, excluding the switch, Xbox, Playstation, and PC all have ways around it (Xbox/Playstation Party chat, PC Discord). Why not have game chat? Sure you will get the sweaty SWF's who run OP perks together, but id rather face that once in a while, over not being able to communicate with my friends on other platforms when playing survivor (Which you face anyway due to ways around it as stated before).
I don't know if the devs want it off for "immersion", if so honestly I feel more immersed when I can yell to my friend that Michael is about to kill me. If they want it off for balance, once again there are ways around it, so just enable it, and balance Killers/Survivors accordingly.
This could be one of the best options for full crossplay support, for people like me who have old friends on console I want to play with, If no game chat is on the title however, we will be more inclined to play something more mediocre that has voice chat just to hang out with each other.
Adding game chat will also solve the debate of "nerfing" SWF's, as stated before yet again, if enabled the devs can just balance the game as if every survivor can talk to every survivor (Most of which would be easy, just tweaking specific perks).

Yeah lets make the game like friday the 13th where squeaker kids yelling the N word when you down them or not chasing them.

No thanks. And no in-game voip either. I rather not make every survivor have the power of a SJW.

If they add voice chat in the game, believe me this will no longer be a horror game.

What did he mean by this? It's a video-game, the most common thing to find in online game chats is excessive slurs and targeted profanity.

Well some people don't want that for immersion, just because you woudn't mind dosen't mean everyone else does.

I see a lot of people who don't want to hear other people, *Disable Voice Chat*, problem solved.
3 -
In theory you wouldn't hear it, seeings how it is between survivors.

No no no, I'm agreeing that adding voice chat is a gateway into the hell hole that is old school MW1 and BO lobbies with 9 year olds who just learned how to say the hard R. Saying it gives power to SJW's is the most bizarre thing I think I've heard all day.

SJW and survivor rulebook is lowkey tied, or he mistyped and meant SWF. Anyways, like any other games where voicechat is optionnal, everyone rather disable it anyways so I rather see devs focus on others aspects of the game.

I'm not doubting that, however, there has to be something. If not the majority point of crossplay is voided. Adding voice chat I assume would come with a "mute" option.
1 -
Focus on other aspects, sure. However I find it hard to believe adding voice chat is a tough task.

Ugh, I hate when people do that. If voice chat gets added to dbd this game would die.

It should be okay if you could silence them. I have been playing TLOU factions and when I come across a tryhard insulting everyone for not playing at his level I just silence him and call it a day.

that has literally been my response to everyone, if added, I would assume a disable feature would come with it. It wont however, I can see a large amount of negative feedback just here alone. I will just play another title with my friends as usual.
1 -
Most of the negative feedback come from the fact it failed in the games of the same genre, you're still free to use discord & stuff however.

Friend, voice communication would be a great contribution in many games, but not in this game. You would not understand..
2 -
I would rather if the voice chat was only avaiable to swf instead of all public lobbies.
2 -
that is what i would want as well, just so i can actually communicate with my friends from PS/XB, otherwise I dont see the point of playing with them on this title which we all love. I also don't see how that would affect anyone else.

No. The DBD community is not NEARLY mature enough to handle this.

Proximity chat is such an easy thing to implement and is needed for solo queue IMO. As long as the killer can hear it nearby, it would be balanced. Sweatlord Spirit mains will protest it because they hate the idea of solo survivor being something other than free kills, but it would actually be a quality of life upgrade for killers as well. There would be less SWF at high ranks because solo wouldn't be such a guessing game, and stealth killers would be able to get the drop on survivors easier & possibly take valuable info.

I wouldn't mind voice chat, but I'd like it if we can hear others only if their near us and their voice will fade as they get further from us. There would need to be an option to mute specific players and an option to mute all players automatically before each game starts (without having to set that up each game).

It would make it easier to balance around voice chat finally. Make it proximity only, give a mute option and make it fade far away. I wouldn't be against it as long as the implementation wasn't terrible.
