Does anyone even own the Stadia?
I mean. I feel like we're wasting time rolling out cross progression to a system with almost zero playerbase.

I really wish these companies did their research and looked into a service called OnLive.

Personally, I want them to bring DBD to PSNow so I can play the console version on PC ๐คช
1 -
Never even heard of Stadia
1 -
We got cross progression for Stadia, but not Xbox or PS4 ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ
18 -
Bets on how long Stadia lasts?
6 -
I forgot it existed. I'd assume they're doing cross progression with that first because it's easier rather than actively prioritising it.
1 -
Sony has always been tight on cross progression and play. Their finally starting to ease up but it's not a walk in the park to convince them to let your game have it.
Microsoft is no excuse since they actively encourage cross play and progression
Idrc if the game is on stadia more people get to play the game and who are we to be mad that more people get to play the game.
5 -
i forgot Stadia was a thing.
0 -
Cross play and cross progression are 2 different things.
0 -
Im referring to progression not crossplay.
0 -
They actually announced that your can upload your save file from one platform to the other than?
0 -
Youre probably right. Hell, maybe even the Stadia port is just a ruse to test crossplay
0 -
Yes indeed. Switch and Stadia have cross progression.
0 -
Now that's just sexy AF.

With a game like DBD and all it's DLCs, cross progression gets kinda sticky. Each company gets money when you buy a product through their platform, but what happens when you buy abunch of DLC on steam where its often times cheaper... Should you get that stuff on Xbox with Microsoft not seeing a dime?

I don't look forward to playing with people using the stadia personally unless they've fixed their latency issues. I welcome the other platforms however.
With cross progression I'm more so curious if cosmetic purchases and auric cell purchases transfer as well.
1 -
I'm gonna be honest here, I had no idea it existed until they announced dbd would be compatible with it.
3 -
Gets me pretty angry knowing they spent resources, time, devs and coders into this instead of fixing their game.
Here's a $30 Cosmetic.
8 -
Apparently Paulie now does...

Only 11.6 thousand active stadia players
3 -
LOL probably not

People are quick to dismiss Stadia, but especially with cross-play, it's a phenomenal "platform."
ESO is a great example. You can get the basic edition on Stadia for $10 ($20 but right now everyone gets $10 off first purchase) and it's basically the PC version of the game. You can play it on any TV with a Chromecast, any computer with a browser, and most Android devices. The Division 2 is the same way. There is literally no cost of entry. You don't need a few hundred dollar console or a thousand dollar PC. If Stadia goes under, the entitlements are account linked so you could play on PC with your full account.
That said... would I personally invest a lot of time or money into a game that doesn't have cross-play/progression? Not just yet. But it's definitely the future.
There is something magical about being able to play (ESO in this case) on any TV in my house, switch to my phone when I'm watching TV, and on my work laptop when I have downtime. I'd honestly go so far as to say the portability makes it my preferred platform, despite having Xbox One X and PS4 and a gaming PC.
I can't wait for DbD to come to it. The only thing I'm bummed about is my DbD account is on Xbox so I'll have to rebuy stuff and get all my perks again.
Also regarding the latency - looking at ESO as an example, while you are adding latency because it's streamed, the actual game had less latency on Stadia versus running locally based on some users analysis. Hopefully this holds true for DbD as well.
Anyway, just hoping to shed some light amidst the constant childish "omg why Stadia with it's 6 players."

Most people bashing Stadia have never tried it and many are defensive because they've paid into expensive hardware systems (consoles, PCs) that are somewhat (though not entirely and never entirely) obsoleted by Stadia.
It's actually a fantastic system and it has totally replaced my other forms of play. All I need is my lightweight tablet and wifi or a mobile hotspot and I'm good to go.
If anyone wants to give it a shot, Stadia is free without Pro but you can also get a free 1 month trial of Pro and like 20 free games with Pro. Give it a shot.
Also if you do have some periodic stutter or something try troubleshooting guides especially if you're on wifi or using a mac (Macs don't have good wifi drivers or good video decoding).
If you have any questions or need help check out reddit com/r/stadia And feel free to ask anything

What is a stadia? /s

This forum name seems biased, and consequently suggests that there is some selection bias in the people who commented. I am not a gamer, and only own a Chromebook and no gaming console.
I started using Stadia a few months ago, and it has a surprisingly large user base and community, playing games casually was above and beyond my expectations, there's little to no lag, I play on my large TV, etc.
I suspect that you all aren't the target audience for Stadia, I'm not sure why you're so passionate about disliking it. In its target audience of non-gamers with no hardware like me, it's amazing. Maybe it's not for you, just like buying a dedicated having console is not for me.
Cheers

HELLO STADIA USER JUST DROPPING IN IT WORKS WE'RE HERE ACCEPT US ITS THE YEAR 2020 stadia actually works do your research๐ค guys come on

Oh man! What a positive community you have here! Can't wait to join you all once the game comes to Stadia! It's gonna be fun! ๐

12,000 people worldwide ? That's fairly shocking. Probably cause Google has screwed up the delivery since Day 1. I was going to give it a shot until I saw reviews. Then I saw how Google were acting as parent with content creators on YouTube and completely refused to get Stadia. It is a trust based console and Google are not a trustworthy company. They could pull the plug on it at any minute and you'd lose everything. Even games you buy there, you don't own. You basically borrow them and they are completely tied to the service 100%. I've been seeing a few Stadia commercials lately and no one is interested. It is like the modern Atari Jaguar. I've got amazing Internet and I've tried streaming games on PS Now and thought it sucked.

not true because you shouldn't trust any company not even devs but ok will see and 12k users? stop making up numbers dude you dont own your games on steam either so that logic is out the window and youtube has nothing to do with stadia stop reaching and everyone who has tried GFN compared to psnow knows psnow sucks GFN and stadia work FLAWLESSLY what happen to microsoft os on nokia and zune music player? check out the subreddit be more open minded and do your research dude๐ good day to you cant wait until this game comes out !

me too STADIA PLAYERS WALKING INTO THE HOUSE WHAT UP !!!!!! lmaooooo
2 -
Can't wait to play in competitive DBD Stadia tournies. 16 trillion dollars as 1st place reward and key to the city.
1 -
Bro, please don't post on my wall when I don't even know you. You like Stadia ? Cool, but bashing others doesn't help your case.
2 -
Great first impression of the Dead By Daylight community!
1 -
You know that OnLive isn't a thing anymore right?
1 -
He's talking about how all these streaming services are coming out of the woodwork and they forgot about On Live. I've tried game streaming with PS Now in the past and hated it. I've got great Internet cause I don't bother with Cable or Satellite TV. For shows and for horror movies, I've got Netflix, Shudder, and an HDMI DVD player. That's why I pay for premium Internet. Still games were laggy and not a good experience on PS Now. A few months ago, a thunderstorm took out Internet lines and it took a few days to get them fixed. Too many factors out of my control when it comes to streaming games.

I have Stadia, and I love it... but I am their target audience. I don't own any major console newer than the original Wii. Casual gamer, not interested in spending hundreds on a console and $60-$70 each on next gen games. I can deal with minimal lag and it IS indeed very minimal. All in all, couldn't be much more satisfied other than not being able to OWN the games. Worth it to not have to upgrade consoles when the new shiny thing comes out. I will not be taking questions, thank you.
1 -
I don't get the arguments for it.
It's not particularly cheap. You could get a PS4 second hand for basically the same price, probably less after the 5 comes out.
It's not particularly functional, it's designed for portability but requires a solid wifi connection.
It's not particularly reliable, it's a rental system from a company who is well known for just closing non-profitable ventures.
2 -
PS Now is #########, you should try Stadia or GFN, pretty sure both of them are free right now
0 -
You know that it's free right? You just have to buy the games and you can play them.
0 -
Literally my point, which clearly went above your head.

Everything I'm seeing online says even just the controller costs $69.

They're not all this scummy and toxic. But there's still a lot.

I really don't get all of these posts saying you're renting games... you're not you own the game just like any other downloadable game. I seriously doubt you'd lose anything and they'd be in hot water if they just up and shutdown and took everyone's money. You all do realize that cloud gaming is the future right? Games are getting bigger and consoles and even pcs won't be able to keep up. Look at all of the complaints for when a modern warfare update comes out. Your console will have room on it for one game. Internet is getting better I have 0 latency and guess what?! no more lag kills because all players connect to the same session in the Google data center.... so if you have ######### internet and you are the killer you won't be teleporting around the map and killing people from a mile away. You will simply stop moving.

I'm seeing a lot of new users with one post commenting and I don't know if it is the same person or what. Anyway, Stadia is very individual dependent on the success or failure of it. Someone might have a good connection with the data tower and someone else might have a terrible connection. Cloud gaming will without a doubt be good in the future, but not now. Google sure won't be like Neil Armstrong on the Moon with it either. Microsoft is releasing XCloud soon and that will crush Stadia. Sales for Stadia have been very poor and they recently released 3 months of Pro for free as a result. People can be in denial about it, but facts are facts. It is massively failing.
Google also has a nasty habit with shutting down projects. You say Google wouldn't screw over Stadia users when they have done that to various customers in the past. Microsoft and Sony are more trustworthy with ecosystems compared to Google. Cloud gaming is cool if you care about it. I have excellent Internet and didn't like my experiance with PS Now when I tried it. I stick with Nintendo these days cause they never follow trends.

I feel the same to be honest.

It's already dead
3 -
You do realise that stadia likely getting crossplay with pc over ps4 and xbox is because stadia is a pc not a console so it's the same version as pc?
Proud stadia owner here , also own xbox ps4 and switch ...... stadia gives no latency, works flawlessly how about giving it a try before you ######### on it , also player base is huge not small
Thanks for reading :-D
