AFK Killers

I really don't complain alot about this game because I really enjoy it, good and bad, but there's one thing I've been seeing alot recently that's really annoying, AFK killers. Often they're playing as Wraith so you can't even find them to farm chase points so all you have to do is gens and totems, then leave. I get some people are doing this to rank down, but man, it is such a pain in the butt! I've lost pips over this and the bp is terrible. There really should be a way for the game to detect an AFK player, both killer and survivors. I honestly wouldn't say anything if I weren't seeing it so much. Anyone else run into this? Any killers use this, uh, "technique" for any reason?

You can report them for it. I used to come across the same Wraith player on PS4 who would stand facing the exit gate and as soon as the last generator popped he would open the gate.

Sometimes they really are away from the game, doing something else important. That's why I don't report them. A dude could have had his pet choke on food and I don't want to get him banned.

I've run into it in red rank. I figure they're either trying to derank or they had bad match and they're taking it out on next group without mori. I had one with a wraith, I found him because he's so loud breathing when cloaked. I pointed him out to the randoms so we spent time running in basement for extra points. To safety pip you need your team to not rush out after doing gens to get extra points, but that is hard as solo. Search chests, if you find toolbox you can damage hooks. Working with teammate on gen gives you extra points for coop. Run around basement you can get boldness. Only one you really end out getting hurt in is altruism. It can be annoying but doing that stuff you can atleast safety pip.

I actually had never really thought of it as a reportable offense really, I may try that. I don't usually like reporting killers for anything because I feel like the game is hard enough for them already and most killers playing "toxic" are usually just new and figuring things out. What should I report the offense as?

Luckily killers make louder ‘breathing’ noises so I’ve been able to spot these invisible Wraiths. If someone has a flashlight, you can burn them out.

That's awesome advice! Thanks! I don't really like reporting anyone, especially not for that because they might be having a legit issue. I'll definitely do this next time I run into it.

I wouldn’t personally report somebody for doing it once as they could genuinely be AFK. But if you notice it’s the same person that keeps doing it like I did, then I would report it. It comes under griefing as the killer is deliberately forcing survivors to also lose BP and depip.

You can report in the post-game screen. On PS4 at least, next to the name, it's just clicking the thumbs down and choosing the unsportsmanlike conduct reason (AFK is listed under it). If they're genuinely AFK for a random reason, they won't get banned off one standalone report, but if it's something they continually do and continually get reported for doing, I think that's when BHVR looks into a ban.

I’m neither condoning or condemning this, but the killer doesn’t have the ability to simply die on a hook to leave. Might not like the map etc. I’d rather a killer afk then simply quit.

they are not taking game hostage you can do gens and leave. is what it is, that shouldnt be reportable, u dont know if they had to leave because they had a real life problem, or they had to go to bathroom or whatever by not any mean that should be a reportable offense since you all can do gens in 3 minutes and leave to next game.

I don't like reporting people anyway, even if they're being legit trash, I was just wondering if other people were running into this problem. My biggest issue with it is the lack of bp and losing pips because of it, but someone was kind enough to tell me how to safety pip in the situation.
