Spirit using stridor has no counterplay. Change my mind

I am not attempting to be toxic, just informing you that the game IS balanced around solo play. Yeah, information perks close the gap, but do you know what they also do? Take up a perk slot. SWF groups get all of them for FREE. More space to aggressively exploit second-chance perks. If you don't see how it's balanced for solos and SWF breaks the game, then I can't help you.

To be fair, you have to be a very skilled killer to play Spirit. The timing on her phase attack is extremely subtle, without a solid grasp on your mouse to use it, which the typical killer simply is unable to do, you're going to 0k. There's also Spirit's mindgames that you have to take into account, do you use your phase at a pallet to hit the person on the other side, or do you simply do nothing and wait for the survivor to do it on their own? The best Spirit mains understand this stuff.

Your implication is itll ever be repairable..it cannot be..therefore the game can no longer be solo balanced..the devs are finally realizing this

I've been playing spirit for less then a week and already 4/3k almost everygame
Shes really not that hard

Exactly 👍️ 😂

It’s a copypasta, they’re not being serious lol.

r/whoosh

I only read the first sentence lol

To this day I have never understood how anyone considers Leatherface useless. Compared to spirit without add-ons, he's stronger. Instant downs, pallet breaks, and normal speed vs spirit with slow speed and a power that enforces chance.

Yea i realised you were being sarcastic lol

I don’t know if I’m just good at facing Spirit or if everyone else is just bad. I never complain about facing Spirit, she’s unique and different a and requires you to play differently.
If you have Iron Will and the killer has Stridor then you are still making injured sounds at 50% quieter than normal which can still throw off the Spirit’s tracking. I’ve gotten throw off of my tracking with Spirit even when I have Stridor equipped because the survivor was quieter than normal or something like wonky scratch marks.
Spirit can still hear you but you’re still super quiet (depending on the survivor you are playing) and you can throw off her tracking but when you make very predictable movements and camp pallets then it is a cakewalk for her.
It’s not like you can hear the Spirit’s footsteps or use pallets and windows to your advantage. Nope. She’s super uncounterable.
And usually when people say “change my mind” they are already set in their ways and won’t change their mind regardless so what’s the point.

It's really not that hard to track survivors with iron will if your using stridor and have good headphones
I used stridor before i prestiged her and only 3 survivors in all the games I've played managed to loop me for longer then 30 seconds
I am open to having my mind changed if someone could actually tell me how to counter her.
Im a Spirit main btw
3 -
They just need to make Stridor not work on folks with Iron Will.
I mean it's bad enough we have to run Iron Will to counter, but then to have a perk that counter the counter? Hell no.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to play Spirit. Her power usage is extremely subtle, and without a good headset most noises will go over a typical DbD gamer. Spirit mains understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of the mindgames, even if the survivor needs to guess what you're up to - survivors say the counterplay is that you must SUCK. As a consequence people who dislike Spirit truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, Rin's existential catchphrase "Wah!" which itself is a cryptic reference to Waluigi, Mario's brother. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Spirit players get hits without even touching the keyboard and mouse. What fools.. how I pity them.

As a matter of fact, Iron Will needs to be slightly nerfed (it is a meta for a reason).
On the other hand, Spirit needs massive nerf to either tracking mid chase or overall movement. So she either becomes a great assassin but subpar tracker (like Nurse), or she is average at tracking and good at chases if killer is good predicting.

I’m a Spirit main as well, I have been ever since her release almost two years ago.
There is no clear cut “counter” to Spirit other than predicting where she is going to phase and not moving in a predictable pattern. Most killers “counters” are either basic looping or dropping pallets early (Freddy, Clown, Doc). Spirit is different where you're basically just predicting on where she’s going to phase and listening for her footsteps. Is it a guessing game? Yes. But that’s just how she is designed. If survivors knew the Spirit’s exact location while she was phasing then she’d be terrible.
My point is that survivors are STILL quieter than normal especially someone like Ace and you can still disorient and confuse the Spirit. It’s not impossible run a Spirit if you know what you’re doing and don’t make predictable movements. Of course you’ll eventually go down but that’s supposed to happen, it’s just more unsatisfying to go down to a Spirit because you can’t physically see her location.
You can still do things to disorient the Spirit in a chase and confuse her. She’s a strong chase ending killer. Of course a GOOD Spirit is going to end chases quicker than a Bubba.

I'd guarantee it will not drop her in rank. At all.
1 -
That isnt very comforting, because It very much would, killers need sound..making her blind and deaf just means she will almost never land hits in phase..unless they were bots
0 -
She already got a nerf. What do you want?
2 -
Spirit with stridor is easily countered just like almost every killer in this game. Stay split up, do gens, leave. End the game before she can snowball. GGEZ
2 -
Iron Will does not need a nerf. An injured person still leaves blood trails. And, it takes other perks for an injured person to be able to get away from a killer, not Iron Will itself. Besides, Iron Will is one of the few stealth perks so there should be no nerfs to it.

She is literally cancer. I can take on Nurse or instant teleport Hag any day but not this cancerous of a killer that is Spirit. People say shes hard to master, really? Even a Baboon can master her in 10 seconds. Thank goodness I found a way to dodge lobbies.
0 -
I get where you are coming from with how strong it is on her but at the same time it’s the only real thing to counter sound bugs and bugged iron will
0 -
Iron Will/Off The Record do absolutely nothing to counter Stridor, she can still hear you fine
No Mither is a death sentence, so don't even try to pretend like that's a legit strategy.
Nice whataboutism. Just because one thing is OP doesn't mean the answer is more OP mechanics.

why all these threads lately, is this some kind of agenda to get her nerfed next?
0 -
Spirit is mostly balanced, and her strength when using Stridor is more of an issue with the Perk than the Killer herself (why does Stridor ignores certain Survivor Perks?).
The only change that may need happening is with her post-phase movement speed. For new players, this acts like training wheels so is perfectly understandable (the Spirit does have a high skill level). For veteran players, this gives her excess power. A veteran player will be on-point when it comes to hunting Survivors, but the post-phase movement speed ensures that they will always get a hit.
Her post-phase movement speed needs to be toned down. A different part of her kit can be buffed to compensate if necessary.

No she can't hear you with "Off the Record" and "Iron Will". In the first chase, sure, but after that you're invincible.

SURVIVORS WHO USE THEIR MIND HAS NO COUNTERPLAY. CHANGE MY MIND.
You can track spirit in phase shift just like she does it to you, and counterplay her mindgames, Lol.

Agreed. You shouldn't have to spend literally all of your perk slots to counter 1 killer.
0 -
Her counterplay is extremely restricted. Thats the reason why she is so hated.
0 -
Don't get hit and just vault through a window crossing your fingers that she is on the other side and not yours. Most unfun killer to go against, besides a good nurse.
0 -
That "nerf" shouldn't have existed to begin with. It was barely a nerf in the first place.

Spirit being deleted from the game would be nice. Then again who doesn't love a constant guessing game where it's near impossible to read your opponent in a competitive multiplayer game.
I'd rather have OG Nurse back in the game than play against Spirit when I play survivor because at least Nurse is exciting to play against. As killer I'd take the return of OG DS to delete Spirit from the game.
0 -
Delete your game then or play DbD 1.9.3.
1 -
Exactly. People just want to stupidly abuse pallet loops and infinits.
1 -
Nah - Easier to just main killer and assume Spirit eventually gets nerfed into oblivion where she belongs.
0 -
>Nerfed into oblivion.
Nah - I don't even need a Spirit's power to get 4k.

people that complain about swf teams havent played this game enough yet to realise those are just the games you dont win and be honest how many death squads do you even come by on a regular basis? because believe me its not that frequent, its the same for survivor their are games that you dont win like an iri head huntress with an ebony, How is this even a debate?

i hate this argument so much, "ahh your just mad because you cant bully her, you dirty looper" its not that you cant run her its like old legion no matter what you do your going to die theirs no input you can make that will change the outcome of a chase their are really strong killers like hillbilly where i can get curved on in the first 20s of the chase and i still had fun during that chase because i was actually outplayed, the killer used skill and experience as well as game knowledge to use his killers power in a way that i didn't predict, spirit takes little skill which is part of the reason people hate her ive been playing huntress since 2017 and when spirit came out i immediately started doing better with her compared to any other killer, because spirit is too strong for how easy she is to play.

Because no mither just tells the killer to tunnel you to death

This entire thread
Killers: She is only strong non gimped killer left, she is countered by simple pallet drops and evading like other killers.
Survivors: She shouldnt be able to hear survivors, or move as fast, or hit survivors after phasing, or move to fast. Actually, give her a cooldown before her recharge.
1 -
As I said, a perfect balance for this issue is simple. Spirit reduces her ability to hear by 50% on phase. If you use stridor you have normal hearing, but iron will still works.
0 -
who would ever run anything interesting as survivor when 4 second chance perk go brrr
0 -
That is not what a strawman is.
Please learn your fallacies before calling people out on them. Otherwise you're just gonna look really dumb.
1 -
Unless they run father's glasses they won't see blood
0 -
Not just every stealth it counters the spirit mind game of standing still

I love playing spirit and her design but if i get caught off guard wihout iron will due to challenges or a new chharacter against i spirit ill either quit or idle out the match.
ONLY situation ill ever play that way. Pure rng for only one side is not engaging gameplay

I don't really understand why people find Spirit so problematic. Is there seriously no fun in trying to be unpredictable with your pathing and stringing together a series of 50/50 choices? If you genuinely think that Stridor Spirit is a 100% guaranteed quick down even with Iron Will, then your pathing is way too predictable. Stridor does not amplify Iron Will to such a degree that she's guaranteed to have error proof tracking. How many players are walking around with $500 headsets and spatial sound turned on?
