Did the Ruin change actually ruin survivor games?
When they changed Ruin it was, at least the reason they was to help newer players. This was because newer players found hitting Ruin skill checks extremely difficult. I've long argued that as old Ruin Ruin didn't really effect experienced survivors it's change didn't really effect gen speeds.
That said, I am forced to wonder, did it have the secondary consequence of flooding the high ranks with bad survivors? I remember the trouble Ruin gave me when I was new. Without that hindering them. I believe new survivors are finding it much easier to rank up. Reaching ranks that aren't a true reflection of their skill.
Anyway, that's my crazy theory. Does it sound plausible to you guys? Or am I completely nuts on this one?

You're damn right. Ranking up as survivor is easy and doesn't demonstrate any skills besides holding M1. We can just wait and see how this new matchmaking system will be.

Working thru Ruin isn't bad till the killer has a 3 gen setup and then to only find out he has Pop as well =/

That wasn't quite where I was headed in my reasoning. My thought process was without old Ruin newbie survivors can complete gens not too much slower than an experienced team. As a result you get overall shorter matches. And as we know, shorter matches favor the survivor team. Meaning more escapes and pips. Without needing to develop game sense or any of the other skills needed against good killers.

Then, yes.

Actually it wasn't just new players they were nerfing it for. It also said they were nerfing it as well due to some survivors not being able to hit great skill checks.
It was those two things combined that pretty much allowed any survivor to reach rank 1 easily, with just holding m1. You don't even need to know how to loop in order to reach rank 1.

well for one rank don't matter right now also if they just do gens they wont pip,why i think there alot of (consequence of flooding the high ranks with bad survivors) is swf with high rank friends playing with the low rank friends helping them pip up fast.

That actually explains a lot, but i doubt thats the reason for the flood of bad players.

Not by itself. But I feel like it was a big contribution to this problem.

What? If you're working through Ruin then the killer's Pop is disabled. You can't kick a regressing gen.

You really don't need to now. Just run in a straight line from pallet to pallet and you'll be fine. Assuming your team is doing gens while it is happening.

Behaviour helped newbies by making gens easier... Now that it is easier and they don't blow up gens, they can't loop the killer because most of the times the also noob killer doesn't find them leading to inexperienced survivors on red ranks...
We learned to play the game with old ruin, why does the new players get it easier? And why we have to suffer from their lack of experience looping?

now bots just repairing, saving and hiding... pip.
but devs still saying its killer's fault.

He meant old Ruin, new Ruin regress gens whereas the old Ruin regress a tiny bit when survivors hit a good skill check.

You're absolutely correct. Yes, it flooded high ranks with bad players.
Aside from flooding high ranks with bad players, the maps were reworked to compensate the Ruin nerf.
Smaller maps, faster chases, no more God loops.

"Reworked" is not really the word I'd use. Sure they removed infinites but maps are still incredibly large for 90% of the killer roster.

We came to the day that it is so easy to escape that I'm running autodidact just to have fun hoping for a single skill check when healing someone...

New Ruin might actually be even worse for new survivors. A lot of time newer players play scared and leave gens and hide after hearing the slightest heartbeat so it could be just as punishing.

True. But you also see alot less Ruin in general. So it still wouldn't be a problem for them.
