As a Killer, you are tasked to keep the gates closed. Yeah?

So what compels a Killer who is actually trying to kill (not farm) to open the Gate? What are some legitimate reasons to do this deliberately?

  I also wonder the same thing, they also give you 500 bp for doing that. I think the intention is to be able to use BW.

  For survivors that are hiding or taking the game hostage. You as a killer can open the gate to force them out.
