a qustion about camping
I want to hear an opinion of the community.
1 surv is dead, 1 is on hook, nobody does the remaining gens , nobody even started doing them (a common situation).
what should killer do? Should he pretend he does not understand what is going on?
Should he not defend the only logical objective on the map? You patrol the nearest gens+hook therefore deleting one more surv out the game and watching gens.
I bet most of complains about camping comes from such situations because this is an unwinnable situations for survs and they start whining because they cant repair gens, they cant unhook their teammate they pretty much lost the game .
Im not even saying about situation when 2 survs are dead and one is on hook, in such situation im like a "good" killer silenntly walk away at 30-40 meters and obediently w8 till mister survivor unooks his friend and then give them time to run away.

Spot on. Lurking nearby using the hooked survivor is a baiting tactic, like you said, why should you walk off and put the kettle on....

Theres a lot of factors, such as perks, the killer, map, etc.
For instance, you're playing a killer that can easily get back to hook if you patrol away from hook, you can probably get back depending on hook. They could still get the unhook but you'll be right back to get the hits (unless they have BT) even if they get unhook its ok cause youll be near and they're not doing gens.
If you're using reading perks or gen perks (Infectious Fright, Thrilling, BBQ, Discordance, etc) you have a general idea of where the other survivors may be. If no one is doing gens they are either cleansing totem, going for unhook, or if ur Trapper, Hag, Demo, etc. theyre cleansing traps. You could easily find and start a chase, but if they're intentionally trying to be chased that means the other is gonna unhook, and so look for the other one. This could be worse if theyre healthy so keep that in mind.
If its a big map dont go as far as you usually would. If the surv r by the other side of the map you can cut them off somewhere. If its a smaller map you can patrol farther, but the surv have a likelier chance of already being near hook. Indoor maps are usually difficult to patrol and navigate anyway, so you dont know where the other surv are you may not want to stray too far, but dont just flat out sit at the hook, never do that.
Tl;dr: be aware of the circumstances and such that are present and assess from that point. People get mad at camping when your just sitting at the hook and not moving more than 5 meters away. If they still complain even thought many plays are laid out they may just be entitled, but I'm not assuming.
This is just how I would go about it, they're probably many flaws in my statements so feel free to correct me or if I didn't make smth clear
