Do people want Dbd to be competitive?
I started playing a couple years ago and loved it, but once I got to rank 1 I stopped cause it got too "sweaty". I came back every now and then to play for a bit, but just recently have started playing it frequently and still notice that the high ranks are too competitive.
Do others feel this way? I am not too wound up in the community but I am still curious

If it means balancing is taken slightly more seriously, sure. :P

Personally I love playing at high ranks as it often brings out the best in each sides, causing for a fun game (atleast for me). I try to not play to competitively as then I feel as if it gets to me, but I enjoy playing against people that I personally feel are going to make me play to my best.

Every game will be competetive, you can't change that. DbD on the whole though is not competetive, like everyone thinks the game should be balanced for the Killer to get a 4K. Even the devs themselves that each game should have an average of 2 people escaping and 2 people dying a few years ago.

Me personally, I prefer playing this game on the off chance I get a streamer to scream their heads off. Don't really care about the competition, care more about the horror experience.

I agree that there should be heavy competition in any game at high ranks, I just feel like I don't belong there, but that's a whole different topic.

I hate to break it to people that don't seem to understand this, but all player vs player games are competitive. I think what you might mean to ask is if we want it to be e-sports viable. This game is highly entertaining to watch so the one thing truly stop it from being e-sports viable is the balance. And I can't imagine why anybody wouldn't want this game to be better balanced.

That makes a lot of sense putting it in words, kinda feels like a stupid question now lol, but I still think the game is overly competitive for what it is right now.

Community itself is killing this game, because the developers still listen to the opinion of their community and everything only gets worse. this applies to both survivors and killers.

To me, the ranks mean nothing (or atleast very little). If you made it to rank 1, don't feel like you don't belong, because you do belong there. Although it doesn't show how good you are, it shows the effort you put in.
Soon MMR will be coming and you'll face players of your skill, you'll definitely feel like you belong at your MMR (although not straight away).
