9.7% of players
have prestiged Level II with any character??????
does that sound off?

Steam achievement values aren't a good measure of anything.

Not really. Prestige is a waste of BP, considering how many characters there are that you can use. It's just good for flexing.

seems like it...

why would I bother prestiging?

46.7% of people never rank up, and Dead by Daylight has had free weekends. So I'd say double any achievement you want an accurate score for. So 20% of players have hit Prestige 2. Some players never prestige at all though. Think it's wasteful and what not.
Man, looking at the achievement list I'm definitely the odd one out. .2% of players have Adept Executioner and .4% Adept Deathslinger, and there's a lot of angy posts about them (or there was). Makes ya think.

lmfao i'm not a hardcore player, i just moved from ps4 to pc...how has only 9.7% of players prestiged to level 2 with ANY character...

Free weekends. I would imagine that the vast majority of the players tried out Dbd, got scared by the broken status of the game, uninstalled, and never touched it again.

The prompt asking if you want to prestige after every bloodweb gets annoying

I know this is niche game... but some of thr steam achievements...

Adept seems to be a hit or miss

It still seems low...but you have a valid point.

but steam only tracks steam i'm guessing... i wish all platforms could be tracked

We can always hope👍

I think that sounds accurate. DBD has one of the worst grinding mechanics of any game that I personally know, and if you have multiple teachables unlocked for survivors and/or killers, it can take you millions upon millons of bloodpoints to get back everything that you want to be running with your characters. And since I only play this game casually, I have no interest in prestiging.

No, its okay, a lot of ppl dont prestige at all because it really does nothing for you beside some blood splatered basic skin. And because a lot of players picked up the game in free weekends (increasing temporal population) or buy the game and not played that much because its repetitive or grindy as hell. So yeah, like 10% its actually a lot of players to reach that amount of prestige, considering that you must rank to at least 40 all those character that you dont play but want the perks.

You really have to get into this game by watching youtubers. There's no other way. When you load up the game for the first time, you don't know what's going on. What's a loop? What's a pallet? Oh god he has a chainsaw. Why is white mask man staring at me? That hatchet didn't even hit me etc.
Once you get into the game it's fine, but yeah. It's not a learning curve. It's a learning cliff.
1 -
Yeah, no. Did not ever need youtubers for this.

There's plenty of reasons. There's initial launches where people can decide they just don't like it. Free weekends where people give it a try and don't continue. There's plenty of people who just don't prestige. There's the MASSIVE WALL of characters locked behind paywalls that put a lot of players off instantly.

While I agree you don't need to have watched streamers to get into this game, watching very experienced players play this game really sells it though!
Watching entertaining streamers like Ohmwrecker and Otz can make DBD seem a lot more fun than it is, and that's only because they have thousands of hours invested in the game.

Why should someone prestige?
I have done it one time and I have immediately regretted it. There is no gain besides a skin, in comparson to loosing all of your perks/addons on that character.
Also I bet that not everybody who has bought DBD, plays it.
That is to see by every game across the globe. Some people buy it just to play it in their holidays and then forget about it while they laying on a beach in Hawai as example. Or the free weekends already mentioned. Also some people have give up on DBD and I bet there exist a lot of those type of former players for DBD.
Everytime they nerf something significant for one particular part of the playerbase, some people give up on the game. Luckily for them, their upkeep on new players is higher as the downkeep of the other people, if we look at the steam-stats.

I'd feel bad for the people who never prestige if the devs rework that mechanic eventually like they said they would.

I've already seen some salty people saying they deserve bloodpoint refunds because of the bloody overlay that was on the PTB, because that might be a new prestige.
0 -
More then half of the playerbase never ranked up apperently
Only 2.8% of players sacrificed more then a 1000 survivors
Slightly less then 3/4 of players never had a 4k
That onlt 9.7% prestiged to level 2 seem to be the least sketchy of those numbers

As a general rule, I don't prestige in any games, it makes no sense to me. Why why would I reset all of my earned perks and have to go through the bloodweb all over again just to get a lame bloody version of the basic outfit? If prestige gave actual good outfits I might consider it, but as is, not chance.

I made sure to get all perks on max for all killers and survivors. But then since I'm loaded with items and addons there is nothing more to spend BPs on, so during the event I P3 five survivors. So now I'm going to do the same with every survivor not because I care about that at all but just to spend it in something.
Then when new killer and survivor comes it's the time you need BPs again. It's all about that stupid 1 million cap, there should be none and there would not be a problem. Guess they just want us to play a lot when new characters is released.

I've heard tell in ages past that if you P1, 2 or 3 any character rare items appear in the blood web progressively more frequently. I've p3'd a few characters now and I can safely say that rare items don't feel like they appear more frequently so I'm not sure if prestiging adds any more value than just the blood stained skins.

Well, Steam system counts every person, who owns the game and launched it at least once (as far as I know). So, it doesn't mean that other 90,3% are actually playing the game, a lot of them left it either recently or long ago. Moreover Prestige doesn't give you that much. If there wasn't an achievement for that, I probably would never even start prestiging my characters.

Because most people don't even care about the prestige cosmetics. I've only ever prestiged Kate, and only to prestige 1, and only because I like the bloody shirt. And was never any other incentive to prestige, so most people didn't bother. Of course, now the Devs are talking about adding extra rewards because everyone that prestiged who isn't a completionist realised that they got scammed, but here's hoping it's not an unfair advantage.

I have never used a prestige feature in any game. "Redo this grind for a lame cosmetic?" No thank you sir!
