Casual Play (like Gwent?)
I see a lot of requests for casual play in DbD and I'm not sure its exactly what the game needs. The reason I say this, is because of Gwent. In Gwent it was fairly easy to rank way up if you wanted grinded, but I feel like at the moment they have a relatively balanced rank system. They do have a casual system though, and its the WORST place to play IMO since people have nothing to lose there. They experiment and f* around and try weird stuff. In Gwent, this is kind of OK because its 1 on 1... but if you get frustrated with other survivors being f*ups in ranked, just wait to see what they do when they have way less on the line.
I really think that they just need to adapt the ranking system to factor in a number of things such as your player level, your character level, your SWF combination, and your season "rank". All of this should be factored in when trying to create a match. We want to be able to hover around areas where it feels competitive, and people don't have time to really f* around and be toxic. This won't be easy, but I think its relatively possible.
If you've ever been a killer at rank 12-ish, and suddenly been dropped into a game with a SWF group where the low player is 10 and then the rest are 1-2 rank, you'll know exactly how casual will feel.

I never heard of Gwent and had to look the damn thing up. But I have played both ranked and casual in Overwatch, Paladins, and Heroes of the Storm.
Now, what you say is true in regards to a casual or quick-play mode. However, consider this as well: I purchased Dead by Daylight to play at being a horror film killer or victim, be it a licensed Killer than brings up nostalgia from my childhood like Myers or Freddy, or Laurie as a survivor (I'm 45-years-old), or an interesting original Killer like Doctor or Clown, or Dwight as a Survivor (for some reason, I like the little nerd).
I gave-up playing Ranked mode and worrying about being competitive and climbing a ladder over a year ago. It's why since early to mid 2017, I only played casual modes in Overwatch, Paladins, and HoTS.
So, here in DBD, I'm playing just for fun. I don't care what the meta-perks are or all the meta tactics. Survivor or Killer, I'm just here to have a good time. I do not care about my rank in DBD. I do not care about climbing the rank ladder. Now, since there is not a casual mode, that means that as a survivor I might very well be a liability to my fellow survivors (when playing Survivor) who do care about it. Oh well. Not my problem that the only mode that offers Bloodpoints is the Ranked mode. I still won't be forced to worry about climbing a ladder.

@Kilmeran But do you find yourself ranking up? When I made that same switch (to just play for fun and try ######### perks out and stuff), I tended to hover around 10. I don't see much toxicity, flashlight spamming, etc.

No clue yet. I am very new to the game with limited play time, so really haven't really been able to see how it balances out as far as Rank goes.
I love the idea of hunting victims as Myers and Freddy, but right now I'm also trying to get a feel if this is a game for me or not. And if it is, do I have the time to spend learning the ins and outs of a new game from scratch (especially when I've never played a hide-and-seek asymmetrical game before), or will I just end-up going back to Overwatch, where I already have 2+ years and a ton of game knowledge and experience.
So, we'll see how this plays out over the next month, and where my gaming motivation ends-up.
Right now, I am on the fence. I'm not sure I like how the Blloodpoints vs Perks/Add-on system is done for a PvP-style game. Right now, it smacks too much, to me, of an MMO PvP gear grind system before you stand a real chance of doing anything. I stopped playing MMOs last year (and stopped PvPing in them a few years ago), precisely for that reason. My initial impulse is that I prefer the systems used in Overwatch, Paladins, and HoTS, better, where there isn't anything to grind out like that, and it's more skill vs skill from the start.

The point is you shouldn't be that worried. Spent like the 90% of the time as survivor and yet my level with Myers is 49 and I still have a ######### ton of add ons to test out. It doesn't take that much time to grind I think. Relax and take it easy!1 -

I just play to have fun and to learning about gameplay. I'm having fun and I don't feel like I need a few months to get good tho. Also, this afternoon I had a blast testing some builds with Myers (I gotta share them with you)

Thank you. And I will definitely keep this post in mind.
I won't lie. Part of it is laziness. I have such limited play-time, that a part of me looks at learning this new game versus Overwatch where I already know so much inside and out, and tends to lean over there.
The flip-side is that I then queue into an Overwatch match (did so two nights ago) I am quickly reminded why I purchased DBD and its DLCs in the first place.

If you also have someone to play with sometimes, that should make some games more fun ^^

For me, I can't come back to Ow. I just, I can't and I'm not strong enough, sigh.0 -
@chococri said: I see. I hope we can play together soon. Definitely SWF is the best option and you get a lot of fun.

Don't worry. I lasted two matches. Just two, and the second one was a queuing debate to begin with.
Right now, I'm focusing on Killer on what little play-time I do have, but when I do Survivor for a spell I'll ping you via Steam.
