Why so many spirit posts suddenly
I know that spirit has been a hotly... debated... (More like 50 players just telling each other to git gud and not actually making any actual points)
Im not gonna make too much of an argument for either side here, but im just gonna describe what i do to escape a spirit.
1) Keep distance if possible. I generally start running away as soon as im sure the spirit is heading toward me. I also just tend to hold W a lot to get to the next window / pallet ASAP
2) If you hear the spirit's TR remain the same volume for more than a second or two, get off the generator and walk away. Then watch your idiot teammate get yoinked off the gen. Then watch your teammate DC.
3)Run through a pallet, then double back through the pallet, then drop the pallet. Then run toward the spirit's husk. The spirit will 90% of the time end up on the wrong side of the pallet and you will be 100 miles away. This works better if you follow the your own trail of scratch marks, so it looks like you just dropped the pallet and stayed at the pallet.
I generally survive much longer than my teammates against a spirit.

Literally everybody saw this coming. Now that Billy's addons are a dumpster fire, people want Spirit gutted too
19 -
Spirit gives no feedback, so most people dont like the fact that they cannot react.
But at the same token, it basically just makes her good at the chase aspect of the game, but bad for the protection of gens. Shes kinda Like DS, you can guess all you want, but in the end, if shes there, shes there.

Someone's practicing Spirit and playing her a lot so people are running into her more and getting salty. I noticed when I was practicing Deathslinger a lot of nerf calls were done for him. Coincidence? Eh probably.
1 -
Yea, it seems that if 1 survivor dies but the rest escape, the killer is bad to those 3, but the one that died thinks the killer is overpowered. Its typical confirmation bias, mixed in with being mad that you couldnt escape a game where not all 4 are supposed to escape.
3 -
Yeah ig everyone wants all killers to be weak :(
3 -
The entitled survivor mains just want killer nerf after killer nerf after killer nerf. They know the devs favor survivors more, as they make up a majority of the community, and will ######### and complain if any killer have the possibility of actually killing. Sure, I agree that spirit doesn't give that much feedback, but they are relentless with the nonstop begging for killer nerfs even when unnecessary.
1 -
Maybe cause she lacks counterplay and information? A spirit change is something people have been asking for since her release, unlike Billy.
4 -
The evil survivor mains want the evil devs to nerf the oppressed killer mains once again :,(
3 -
Because
Standing still shouldn't = Free Hit.
7 -
Survivors can't think beyond looping, in most cases. I agree she should have more tells, but a lot of posts again boil down to 'I can't loop this killer like usual, thus they must be bad.'
2 -
Yep pretty much.
Spirit is one of the few killers I don't bother leveling up to P3 Level 50 because I despise her existence in this game. I don't blame survivors for suiciding on hook vs her. My primary bias stems from me hating RNG and as a survivor you lack so much information you're essentially guessing most of the time vs her. Against an above average Spirit your team pretty much is going to lose.
I do agree with Hillbilly's addons being gutted but saw no reason for the basekit nerf. Granted it's not as bad as everyone is making it out to be although it was pretty bad in the PTB.

Cause its the Spirits turn to go through the bhvr rehab program.

There would be a lot of WAAC, or Win At All Costs, players who have jumped on the Spirit bandwagon as she's easier to play than Nurse and about as strong as Hillbilly was.
Not defending the Immersed playstyle, but when we play stealth, survivors get called trash, toxic and all that fun stuff because rather than trying to escape a chase, some of us would just rather avoid them altogether. Killers can't find them and they get frustrated. When I'm playing killer too, I get frustrated when I can't find someone, and that is also because I like to spread out my damage and hook states amongst the survivors.

After the Sabo changes, pallet reductions, toolbox nerfs, insta-heal reworks, Endgame Collapse and both the Freddy and Doctor reworks, it's really hard to say that this idea is true. The survivor nerfs/killer buffs are generally more rare, but they hit harder.
But, if we're talking truly entitled survivors then yeah they will whine about any killer until they become a joke. Thing is though that there are players like that on BOTH sides.
I'd also like in general for nerfs to just stop and for smaller changes to be made slightly more often. Not Overwatch twice-weekly levels of often, but more than we currently have. Just small number tweaks to some perks or powers every now and again to spice things up and fix issues as they happen rather than sweeping changes that are going to annoy a lot of people at once.

What are you taking about. That's a super advanced big-brain tech that only the best Spirits can use
2 -
if spirit were to get any changes, i would make it so that using her power would completely drain her meter. Thus survivors could gauge when it is possible for her to be phasing. But then reduce the overall charge time of her power.
something like this:
Spirit: *Stands still*
Survivor: ooh no. you just came out of phase 6s ago! you definitely arent phasing!
2 -
I play both sides and I mained her before I realized how boring it was- she needs to be brought down a few notches
2 -
The Spirit is fine.
5 -
People who do not know how to counter it are because they have never interpreted the spirit.

It seems that you play against a 4SWF squad and only 3k. And the killer cry because he can't 4k
0 -
Imagine a fighting game where the character you're against has no animations but still has hitboxes that can do damage,. That's chases against a spirit.

Nurse was da best, gets gutted
Billy was at the top, gets shanked
Spirit simply s the next "ttop killer that needs slight adjustments or addon pass"
Funny thing is that lots of us seen it coming with nurse and called certain survs outfor back then for what theyre still continuing till today. Its especially aggravating since the balance ideas for default-swf is in favor of the lower end while the killer-tier-list gets always changed at the top, when it'd be better if the lower tier killers got buffed to lessen the gap between the killer tiers.

I did say how I agreed she was strong.
0 -
Because Scott Jund said she’s unfun, so she’s unfun.
/s
2 -
She's been unfun since her 2nd set of buffs. I've been complaining about her since her 2nd set of buffs. This is nothing new.
1 -
Spirit is hated because
- She can't be mindlessly looped
- Lack of information
- She's a gamble
I enjoy Spirit from both perspectives. As a survivor I enjoy not having to depend on looping her because it makes me use different tactics. As a killer I enjoy her because she flips the script on survivor's and makes them feel like they can't do anything (which is how it feels to play M1 killers), plus I don't have to use the same tactic to deal with looping when I play her!

"They know the devs favor survivors more."
In what ######### universe do the devs favor survivors more? Killer mains get any sort of nerf and immediately jump to sobbing about how survivor-sided the devs are, forgetting that survivors get nerfed every other damn patch.
Toolboxes? Nerfed.
Medkits? Nerfed.
Borrowed Time? Nerfed.
Decisive Strike? Nerfed.
Balanced Landing? Nerfed.
Self-Care? Nerfed.
Exhaustion Perks? Nerfed.
Survivors have gotten tons of nerfs, It's much less "The Devs favor X" and much more "The Devs suck at game balance" Anything that is a minor issue is nerfed into the ground without a second thought.

You are 0.01% of the player base. OP asked about sudden recent complaints. I just gave my theory, which I am allowed to do.

I don’t really hate spirit, but I find her quite “boring”? The fact that survivors can’t really loop doesn’t bother me, and I dont think it bothers survivors mains as much as ure all saying it does.
Look at nurse, I find her really fun to verse, even if I get completely demolished by her, she’s literally the funniest killer to go against, and I know there’s a lot of other people that also think like me.
What people don’t really like about spirit is the fact that standing still is a mindgame, that u don’t know if she’s phasing or not. I don’t really mind that tho
what actually bothers me is the fact that one of her downsides, her normal speed being slower than most killers, is basically nonexistent since she can use her power for like half a second to keep up to u, u get what I mean? The fact that she can use her power whenever she wants is confusing to me, why not make it like legion so that u can only use it when fully recharged? That would also make “standing still mindgame” easier to tell if it’s fake or not, and actually make her downside an actually disadvantage.
Imo, everything else about her is fine (I’m only talking about her base kit, spirit with stridor is another thing since the problem is more towards the perk I guess)

Sorry but the direct attack failed so badly that I have to rebuttle. The first few words of my post are about how there is a 1k kill to a 3k escape. Yet you somehow failed to read that, so its mentioned again. Not once is it mentioned about a swf, or anything else for that case. What im explaining is confrimation bias, and it seems to hold strong to you.

Scottjund made his anti spirit vids about 8 months ago. At the time there were also tons of anti spirit posts. but then they died down a bit after the spirit tweaks.(The one that gave her a vault animation).
Then suddenly there is a resurgence of spirit posts.

^ this is the video I am referring to.
pretty recent.

oh yeah. i forgot about that one.

Billy? Nerfed
Nurse? Nerfed
Legion? Nerfed
Legion again? Nerfed
Pig? Nerfed
Hex ruin? Nerfed
Dying Light? Nerfed
Knockout? Nerfed
If entitled survivor mains start an outcry for a killer to be nerfed, more times than not, they will be nerfed.
All of what you mentioned are nerfs that balanced the game more, while three of what I mentioned I agree needed a nerf, but they went too far.
Nurse? Yeah, Omega blink nurse was broken, but they nerfed the base-kit as well as the add-ons
Billy? Yeah, the instasaw was broken, but they nerfed the base-kit unnecessarily.
OG Legion? Yeah he was busted, but they went ham on his nerfs.
Self-care is still a good perk, but there are better perks than it.
DS was op, and deserved the nerf it got.
Balanced Landing nerfed? You mean the nerf that removed the effect of being less staggered during fall, while still exhausted? That just makes sense.
Toolboxes? Genrushing?
Med-kits? You mean the insta heal BS? That was broken and deserved the nerf it got.
Remember when the devs started banning people for using two of legions add-ons that worked well together, instead of fixing it, Like not letting the two work together or putting a cap on the max deep wound? But when it came to Wake up being bugged and working on every action, no punishment for the people abusing it? I remember that.
The devs tend to be more on the survivor's side, and it just makes sense for them. The Survivor mains are a huge chunk of their source of money. It doesn't help that they also suck at balancing their game.

How can Spirit be nerfed in a way that her power is still useful during chase? If you make it too obvious where she's going she just becomes a glorified Wraith with a cooldown.
1 -
You know, I honestly don't remember the last time a Spirit just stomped me into the ground and I had absolutely no control over the chase. People who complain about Spirit are just bad at mind gaming her plain and simple. They want to know when she is using her power but fail to realize that getting that feedback makes her power useless outside of gaining mobility, these same people also fail to realize you can HEAR HER FOOTSTEPS. I use this against a Spirit all the time also the number one rule of thumb is W away, you never walk back to a Spirit's husk that just makes you a fool and you deserve to get hit. Gitgud, seriously.
3 -
They got Hillbilly nerfed so they're moving to the next target. Forum history proves Survivors will just whine about the Killer they don't like until they get nerfed.
2 -
Didn't Spirit just got nerfed like a year ago? Do we need to do another one? Yet Freddy is ok with his dream pallets which is basically the same thing since you have no idea which one is real in a chase. Just like Spirit.... it's called a gamble. Just like pallet and tile placements.
1 -
I don't know it's being fixed or not, but sometimes survivors can hear the phasing sound in her terror radius
So every time i do this mindgame at pallet, i always use my power, but stand there. Most of the time survivors vault back, and i'm not even joking.
But with that said, i don't use this mindgame very much unless i can almost guarantee survivors will vault back.

My thoughts with it is that:
If Spirit wasn't here, they would be asking for Nurse nerfs.
If Nurse wasn't here, they would be asking for Freddy nerfs.
If Freddy wasn't here, they would be asking for Deathslinger nerfs.
If Deathslinger wasn't here, they would be asking for Doctor nerfs.
Continue until you get to clown.
