I hate Self-Care as Survivor

Dont get me wrong, i believe it will be relatively balanced once the healing cube comes. However the thing that gets my blood boiling is the habit of many/most of their users of not letting me heal them cause they wanna have their sweet BP for themselves.

That makes perks like Autodidact, Pharmacy, Botany, We'll make it etc. all useless and kills a medic/altruism playstyle.

I suggest that BHVR should remove all BP for Self Care and in turn increase the BP for healing others to 500-600.

Also Self Care is inferior to Bond. Offers so much more versatility and allows you to get healed.

######### Self Care.

I don’t run SC just because I know one too many Survivors who are overly reliant on it. They absolutely crumble under pressure of being injured, and make some stupidly HUGE mistakes because they are so used to “always being healthy” they panic like crazy when injured.

Plus, for the reason you said. They just want you to rush gens while they soak up the points.

Yep, true. Something has to be done about it cause its not healthy for the game even if many people disagree. You know these adorable Claudettes running Empathy to heal you back up as soon as you are safe? I havent seen for quite a while and miss that.

Self care crushed its value too, an entire playstyle dead cause of one perk.
  • I use empathy and SC ^-^. Empathy is really good because if your pal is in a chase you can find and follow them to either heal them if they lose the killer or you can flashlight save. I myself run self care because you can't rely on anyone in this game, most people are snakes and will try to get you killed to benefit themselves in one way or another.

Well, thats actually not about self care, but about bp distribution, which lacks in the team aspect of the game.

    Don't see the problem personally.

I run it on Meg, and you still have to escape the chase and find somewhere safe before you can use it. Too often I find other survivors don't heal each other, run the length of the map after unhooking me, or plain ol' f*ck up the skill check.

I'll usually let others heal me if they do show up... but that tends to bite me on the arse quite often. Only last night, a Dwight missed the skill check and then, in a panic, pulled the pallet down next to us. Killer was there in seconds.

The group's Claudette... was hiding in a bush in somewhere.

And when playing killer, it really doesn't bother me. Sometimes it's a blessing, Nurses Calling is occasionally the only way I find people quickly.

I don't run self care because it's too crutch and too many people rely on it to survive. And I do run bond in its place lol. Isn't bond great??

Monitor and Abuse + Nurse's Calling on Nurse. "You're already dead."

I never run SC as a survivor unless I’m playing a medic build with botany knowledge, empathy, and or pharmacy. It wastes so much time self healing and it makes the game so much more suspenseful when you don’t have an infinite heal in your back pocket. I’ve always thought they should give SC a certain amount  of charges (like a reverse stake out) so you can only heal yourself a number of times in a match. Make survivors be careful and choosy when they self heal and encourages teamwork so you don’t waste them. Also it’s a horror game! Come on what horror game gives you unlimited resources unless it’s a cheat code? 😋 I will say it’s a great beginner perk for people who aren’t positionally aware or play aggro all the time. But there should be a price for that just saying.

I took David to P3 during the bbq event, and self-care didn’t show up for over 100 bloodwebs. I didn’t have to play him of course, but he had the most bbq invitations. I had to adapt to a different play style and it was actually very fun. I have been enjoying the liberation of not running it anymore. It frees up a perk slot. I usually use Bond instead now. Not only can I track someone down to get healed, but it provides a lot of additional information about what’s happening around you.

At rank 1 you almost have to have it since there's so many Rambo's out there, people that don't belong there, ones that're trying to depip and who'll happily take you with them. It's just a must when you're in solo queue and can't trust others to be consistent.

It's even more of a must when you get a known griefer in your group who'll purposely screw up the heal and or run to you with the killer in tow using bond.

I run SC and we'll make it together because I'm a selfish altruistic healing ######### :p

I play with friends of varying skill a lot, and sometimes Self Care is far more useful than running to someone. Killers seem to forget that injured survivors are lightning rods for being found. They leave blood trails, make incredibly loud moans and whines, and have to make desperate dashes to try and avoid being caught if you're nearby as it is.

While Bond is the better perk from a design perspective, DbD has long been built to accommodate Self Care in the meta. I know people think that's a bad thing, but you have to remember that Self Care's value as a survivor perk directly correlates to counter perks, such as A Nurse's Calling. Just as SC is widely used, so is A Nurse's Calling on multiple killers. I mean, seriously, how often do you heal near a Nurse, Hag, or Huntress?

I would argue that dropping most of the killer roster's terror radius 2-4 meters would be a strong buff to A Nurse's Calling vs. Self Care, but then you just run into situations where A Nurse's Calling and Monitor & Abuse become a more mandatory/meta combo.

It's a delicate balancing act for SC now, and the most they could really nerf is 1-2 seconds without nerfing it very hard and making Bond baseline in some way.

The reason I hate other ppl healing me is because I've gotten killed by being healed too many times. It's annoying that you can't force ppl to stop the heal action. Many times I've been in a situation where I have seen the killer coming straight towards me while being healed. And what can I do? Wait until the person healing me stops, more often than not leaving me injured right in front of the killer... And off to hook we go... So no thanks, if letting friends heal me has a high risk of me getting killed, I'd rahter do it myself

Same story here. Im not sure if Self Care is so good it spoils people or just overrated.

You CAN stop the healing action, though. By running or holding the run key you will deny all healing actions. This applies to when you're downed as well as injured.

Huh? You get way more points from gens and completing them faster means you're more likely to escape, aka even more points.
