Should your MMR be visible?
While I understand that the numbers and calculations for getting an MMR score should remain a secret locked away from the playerbase, I wonder if it's really necessary to hide the score itself.
As a player who cares about improving it would be interesting to see what my score is for each killer and to see how it changed as a result of a finished match.
Ranks are important to players to gauge their performance and experience to create a sense of improvement or success against their opponents.
Since traditional ranking is gone, the closest thing we have now is our MMR score and maybe we should be allowed to see our scores.
Thoughts?

It wont happen they don't want it to be visible because it would expose how bad the system really is.

I concur. I think that since MMR will be replacing the old rank system, it should be shown to the player. In games such as Overwatch, they have a distinct ranking system that goes along with your MMR. I would love to see something like that in DBD, it would certainly motivate me to play more.

This whole system is a mess, getting past the fact that it doesnt even work properly, it just makes no sense the way its put.
Why does rank exist now, like it literally doesnt have a purpose it is so confusing.
And yes obviously it should be shown but it will never be because only bhvr knows why

I agree it should be shown if only to prove that its working.
Without that I doubt people will accept the current matchmaking is working without seeing the numbers given how bad the old system was.

it's a very easy answer.
yes.
people need to know if things are actually working out, also, people wanna see how high they can get

I'm not sure why your new MMR rating isn't visible, it would be interesting to see it though.
On a related note, I kind of wish they would hide the emblem ranks of other players after a match now. Those ranks aren't relevant to the matchmaking system any more and I think having them visible is just confusing people who think that when they see a disparity in the ranks in a match it automatically means something is wrong. They should probably keep the emblem rank on your personal character and loadout screen but hide the ranks of your opponents.

They can't show it, because it would show how nothing has changed at all. Before you would have Red ranks grouped with brown ranks to get brown/yellow ranked killers. Now you get 4 million MMR survivors grouped with 6 MMR survivors to face 6 MMR killers for the ggez lul baby killer games.
Remember ranks don't matter, only mmr!

to be honest i might unpak the game and look for any hints of mmr because knowing bhvr its probably in a file in plain text

They should. Hiding them makes me suspicious. When matchmaking eventually fails down the road, we won't have the numbers to show it. Which makes me think that's exactly what the devs want. If we can't show that matchmaking failed, such as with ranks, then we can't hound them about the issue.

It should not. while I’m sure there’s reason why if you can see you number you can figure out how to control it up and down. that’s info you don’t need just play and have fun

Absolutely not. The last thing I want is a never ending dick-measuring contest between everyone when the system itself probably doesn't even work all that well.

Yes, you should be able to see the metric by which the game matches you with players.
In every other game with skill based matchmaking (Overwatch, League, Dota, Smash, etc) you can see the number the game assigns as your skill rating (or at least a value that correlates with it).
All we can see right now is rank, which has nothing to do with matchmaking anymore.
Hiding skill ratings is just completely pointless and robs us of any sense of the game recognizing the growth in our skills.

If the system isn't designed terribly, the condition for raising/lowering your MMR shouldn't be something you can easily cheese/manipulate.
If the current matchmaking system is anything to go off of, having a high MMR is absolutely essential to having an enjoyable time in this game, because without it you just get a snoozefest that you win in less time than it took to find the match.

Yes if only so we can prove that it’s working.
1 -
If it's working fine, what do they have to hide?
3 -
Oh you know it's definitely not working. They haven't even explained how MMR is measured, nor how they will calculate SWF matchmaking. 3 rank 1's and a rank 20, what killer will they go against?
0 -
Yeah, I still don't understand what determines your MMR?
Chases? Hooks? Unhooks? Gens done? Escapes? Not being chased? 4ks in a minute? Escapes in a minute?

TO EVERYONE SAYING JTS NKT WKRKING PROPERLY: YOURE SUPPOSED TO PLAY 10 TO 20 MATCHES BEFORE IT BEGINS TO WORK WELL. STREAMERS WHO HAVE PLAYED ALL DAY TKDAY ARE GETTING TO A POINT WHERE EVERY MATCH IS A FAIR SPORT. THIS IS A GOOD SIGN. STOP SHITTING ON A SYSTEM YOU DONT UNDDRSTAND.

tHeY AlReAdY SaID mMr WAs RuNing IN ThE bACkGRoUnD BeForE THEY reLEAsEd It TOdAY. That being said, almost everyone's MMR should have already been established, yet everyone is still having ######### games.

Fat Thumbs, sorry Professor Meg. I didn't realize speaking on a forum required perfect grammar, capitalization, and punctuation in order to be read coherently and effectively portray my point. Oh, and by the way, when making a list, unless you've constructed one of full sentences, they aren't supposed to have punctuation. Have a nice day.

And i understand that, but still. Give it more than an hour of gameplay before shitting on a system. Maybe those rank 20's are winning a match or two and are getting paired against high ranks to actually judge their skill in correspondence to a higher ranking player to better place them? In which case, sure, a ######### couple games of number crunching. But then, you'll be put where you belong.

I can understand they want to hide it so you can't gloat on the forum or in chat. That whole "My MMR is higher than yours, you are noob and your opinion doesn't count" ######### wouldn't be there. And it would make sure No one could abuse the system (but I think some hackers will get it sooner or later) after understanding what affects your rating.
But I would like to know after the match if it increased much (green double arrow pointing up), a bit (same, but with normal arrow), was approximately stable (grey ~), decreased a little or much (same as above only in red). Same for all others in the match.
For me, the emblem system doesn't reward my Martyr/Paladin like playstyle well. So I would like to know if this system does it better.

Spot on mate!

It is more like you are writing for people who want to read what you say, not how you say it.

Can’t show something that doesn’t really exist
1 -
I understand keeping it secret. I'd like to see my own just so I can see how much I go up/down from match to match. Just seeing "mmr increased/decreased" would be nice if can't see actual amount.

We both know that's not going to happen.

I'm just tired of people saying "its not working" after 4 matches when its literally been said multiple times that its going to take a couple of DAYS of in game time to accurately matchmake for you per killer. Everybody on the forums has played 3 matches and said wow mmr is #########

There just needs to be some way to indicate whether or not you gained MMR or lose MMR. The only feedback you get is whether or not you pipped, but pipping and ranks don't mean anything so that's useless information.

I mean, you're not wrong, but if you want your message to be heard, those things are important.
They said MMR was running in the background for about a month now, and that it was going to be actually running matchmaking from now on. They said it would have been calibrated by now, which is what I think a lot of people are confused/frustrated about.
