How to counter PH in a chase?

As I've been settling in the MMR system I've found myself running into more and more PH, and from the beginning I've said this killer is extremely strong. I don't think he's OP, just a reminder. Although I don't understand how you're supposed to counter his long ranged attack in a chase, he can just quickly cancel it without any consequences, it basically offers little to no counterplay unless I get a high ping pallet stun on him. It just seems like the chase is always in his favor when it comes to a loop.

I don't think he's op I just think the long ranged attack is extremely bad design and it's frustrating.

The problem is he is very good for camping and tunnel. Red rank killers with PH do this. In chases u can early drop palets strong windows avoid visual contact, fake vault and pallets.

You can't unless he's bad. Then it's just a matter of choosing the right angle to vault and watching when he put his sword on the ground.

good Phs are very hard to play against because they fake half of the time (or more) and see your reaction, if u try to move they fake and because of that you lose distance and is mostly a free m1, if u dont they will try to hit u with the power, but is hard and it also depends on the tile u are using on that especific moment aswell, if u try to wait till the last second without trying to juke the range hit u will get baited, or you dropped the pallet get hit with range same with windows if u keep running most likely you will still get the hit so is hard.

the best would be running dead hard to make him lose as much time as possible also the best bet would try to play around structures and try to no outpositioning yourself, the range attack is not that hard to evade unless the killer has im all ears wich is a very well known perk for Ph.

Dead Hard will save you once, because his ranged attack will not hit you immediately. This perk is a guaranteed dodge from a hit. Then basically all you can do is waste his time. Just run away. You can also drop pallets early. If your team is doing gens, you will be fine, since he has no mobility tools.

Is this fun? Not really. But he can be easily beaten if ppl do gens and don't get caught too easily.

I find him mostly balanced, but that ranged attack is just... ugh. you loop him and eventually you will have to drop the pallet, when you try to do so all he needs to do is get his ranged attack ready: if you drop it he hits you with his power, if you don´t drop it there is no penalty at all for deactivating his power, so it´s basically a hit as you can´t make it to the pallet in time. Look at huntress for an example: she can hit you through pallets, however when her hatchet is up she moves slower ( while being a 110% movement speed killer!), making it so you can go for another loop if the huntress respects and winds up her hatchets. Doesn´t happen with PH though.

I kind of figured, I almost want to pick him up to be honest the fact he can just do that is insane. Even nooby PH seem to excel at him in chases, although they do get punished for it because they're new, but it almost just seems worth it to use your power at pallets, it seems like a guaranteed hit every single time, just keep a comfortable distance and you'll win the loop unless ofc they have DH but with dedicated servers, it's really difficult to land a perfect DH, on top of ping.

Avoid windows at all cost. If a Ph sees u running for window. He will use his ranged.

    stealth

Then when you do get in chase break los and haul ass to another tile.

But if you ignore the stealth aspect youre f-in up

When I play PH the better survivors usually drop the pallet early and immediately take off at an angle to avoid the ranged power then they loop the pallet and fake the vault to get me to prep the power and then I cancel and then they make the vault and take off at an angle. It's tricky but it happens often.

You can also use high obstacles around pallets that block line if sight and just hang out behind them and keep moving back and forth periodically to keep PH guessing if they're trying to get you from behind a line if sight blocker. Doesn't work if they have I'm all ears equipped tho

As PH I use STBFL so I'm punished for using his ranged attack and only use it as a last resort avoiding using it where possible in favour of M1 and relying on his chain trench thing to fug up survivors screens so they make mistakes more often. I probably shouldn't be using STBFL on him lol
