Kill Switch update: Amanda's Letter add-on for The Pig has been Kill Switched due to an issue with incorrect RBT count.

An MMR question? Are you “taking it easy,” when you get paired against weak players?

Since new matchmaking I can tell in a lot of games right away that the other side is way outclassed. What is the “right way,” to handle this?

I used to go easy, as killer if I snowballed too quickly I would walk to the other side of the map to let the survivors rescue, heal and reset completely. As survivor I would let the killer have a hook or even let them kill me endgame for points.

Now I wonder if doing that would make MMR inaccurate so I’ve been just doing my best which had result in some feel bad games man. I know Otz stopped giving hatch. What is everyone else’s opinion? No right or wrong answer since we don’t know what counts as a win anymore really.

These matches were not uncommon before either, both ridiculously hard and laughably easy. Making it easy just means they will get stomped harder next time. Right now, I see a variety, which is much better than just facing more and more sweaty squads as I got higher, maybe that will change it will be worse, I don't know yet.

If you want to farm BP or whatever that's your choice. As someone who got boosted massively during the anniversary event by "nice" people trying to farm on both sides, I knew it would be bad when it was over, and it was. Do what you want.

Well,i have my moments when I go out and go"easy" for more points(prolonging the game). Other times, I don't care at all and obliterate them. Both for killer and survivor

Yeah mixed bag here, if I get like 3 downs and 0 gens have been done, I start giving out a lot of second chances and basically "following the survivors rulebook". Just to get them to save or to let them do gens a bit. Not a lot but enough to let them get a few bloodpoints. Unfortunately if there is one survivor in the mix that happens to be experienced and also a stereotypical "toxic survivors". Clicky clicky, tbagging and what not. I stop giving chances.

But honestly the devs should at minimum explain some of the things that determine mmr. Like if I give hatch to someone how much does that impact theirs and my mmr. If it gives them a lot of positive mmr I'll stop doing it because they should "be with their own" (to lend a racists phrase :P) instead of getting demolished by red rankers.

So I have a mixed opinion on whether to crush newbies or to give them a few good moments.

I don't play killer anymore. As a survivor, I sometimes gift the killer a kill at the end of the match.

Did that 2 days ago, because I was sure the killer was new. Turned out it was a rank 2. lul

I used to, but then i realized that sometimes i think their new and their not and i end up screwing myself. Ill still give hatch sometimes but i no longer take it easy on them

Edited to add: if i have 3 survivors down and one hooked i will let one wiggle free and let them reset. Thats more about trying to maximize bps than anything tho

At this point I’m starting to think maybe MMR isn’t getting better for some of us because we went too easy on people. So I’m going to be relentless for about a week and see what happens, I think survuvors are thinking this way too becauce the couple people I’ve denied hatch at the end weren’t even salty

I read a mod mention that there was a bug ( suspect it was in regards to rank 20s) but I started getting better matchmakings after enough games so I dont sweat it too much. I actually got matched with 4 survivors, 2 of which were red and 2 which were yellow that wrecked my #########. They played about equally well I would say which lends some credense to the devs statement that some low rankers play as well as red rankers.

I mean I people rarely got salty about the hatch to me anyway, most never expected it I assume. I had some get salty and called me "tuneller" because I kept finding him and slugging him. The only reason I did this btw, was because I found out they had low rankers among them, so I created rules for myself. Had to down and hang them all individually once at least before going for a second hook. And then give them all a second hook before killing them. And I went out of my way to not hook a person twice in a row. But I just kept finding this one steve over and over xD. He got really mad at the end but I gave them as many chances as I possibly could I would say. Even let them heal.

But thats just a classic entitled survivor at the end there. But yeah I might start "tryharding" on my less played killers to see if I get better mmr faster.

I just kill survivors like I usually do. I don't make an exception because they are bad, unless I'm doing a daily/challenge which I want to complete in one match, then I'm going to mess with them for a while after securing a win (2 dead on 4-5 gens f/e)

This is a good point to bring up, for me at least. Didn't even occur to me.

I'll often do similar things, let survivors wiggle while pretending to go to hook, missing and leaving, and I also go far away and let them reset if it was too fast before eventually finishing the job.

I do this for not only my points and enjoyment, but for the others too. I don't want people to hate the game because they were unfairly matched.

However, if I DO do this and the system reads it as they're outplaying me, it'll probably just match them up with someone better next time. So a big part of my reasoning is completely ruined, if this is the case.

    Shoot.

As a killer perspective, I'll leave them a chance of two before the final hook, And I eventually kill them since it would lower their MMR increasing their chance to have killers of their level.

From a survivor perspective, DAMMMMN some killers are merciless, I've seen some hardcore tunelling on pretty noticeable babies.

I don't know how y'all can recognize it so easily unless they're showing a misunderstanding of basic mechanics. Even prior to the mmr system, red ranks were full of survivors that were a deal less skilled than me as well as survivors that stomped me. It takes quite a while to realize that the survivors are significantly less skilled than what I should be up against. Not to mention, it doesn't actually happen as often as people like to claim.

Noone is “claiming,” anything... people are literally seeing it after hours and hours. Yes, people are popping in with screenshots of “good matchmaking,” but that could be from literally anytime. I’m watching streams from Puppers, Otz, and Tofu who have played lots and lots of games since this started and they are still getting babies.

As far as noticing it, as survivor I can tell in the first chase of a killer is really really new. They refuse to break infinite pallet loops, don’t know basic lathing, etc.

Survivor is tougher as a lot of red rank survivors got there just by a bad emblem system but if they run and never look back, drop pallets when you’re literally 20 meters away, etc you can assume they’re new
