Why do some people say Franklin's Demise is a counter to keys?
I don't speak for everyone who uses FD, but in a majority of games where I bring it survivors who bring keys don't carry them around the whole game. Once they figure out I brought it they drop their keys somewhere as, unless you're using it for tracking, its a late to end game item that you don't need to carry around the whole match. The person who's holding the key, if they are heading to hatch, is either actively avoiding being spotted or has a survivor behind them to prevent them from being hit. Obviously FD counters it if you're both right on hatch, but in most threads I've seen this isn't the case all the time. This isn't a nerf keys post also.

I'd say it's a soft counter.
If you find the person with the key and hit them, you can patrol the key in-between gens to either guarantee it gets destroyed or get free hits on whoever decides to come back for it. Although this depends if the person with the key doesn't just stow it somewhere, as you said.

For what it's worth, if someone hides the key somewhere, there is a non-zero chance that you randomly get within range of it and spot its aura through Franklin's Demise. If that happens, you can now sorta play keeping that in mind, particularly when the game is close to reaching a point where the Hatch spawns. It ain't much, but it's something.

I believe the killer is only shown the aura of the item if its under FD.
So a survivor who drops their item shouldnt be seen by the killer unless im understanding the perk wrong.

I think any item should automatically start a degrade once set on the ground. Open items in a chest are a different story.

From what I understand, the item won't be put on a disappearance timer unless the Killer knocks it out of their hand, but all items not being carried will be revealed by Franklin's Demise.

I shall test momentarily with friends in a custom game and report back unless someone can confirm with 100% that it does show you the item even if you didnt knock it out.

Thats what i thought, and thats how it should be. You waste a perk slot while i go hide my item in the corner of the map.

That's really what I meant to say, but people from Twitter, twitch, forums, ect... say it's a direct counter when it really isn't.

Regardless, it’s still a counter. If only survivors could counter Moris like that

Run toolbox and sabo hooks before the survivor gets hooked

Leave players on hooks for longer. If another gets injured/goes down go for the unhook. And just gen rush. Its really not that hard unless playing against like a really good Spirit or Nurse.

It's a hard counter when used on Trapper.
Step 1: Slap Key out of their Hands
Step 2: Put Trap onto the Key
Step 3: Since you are a Trapper you have no Reason to leave your Area you are currently defending.
Step 4: Laugh in Malice while watching the Key disappear.

Mori's are my most disliked thing. The only counter is to not get caught. Easier said than done in most cases. I can tolerate green and yellow, but eboni sucks. They can be used after the first hook, and cut a match super short. 4 hooks instead of 12 and less time chasing. I think eboni should be after 2nd hook. You can still kill all 4 survivors, but 2 hooks to use it.
