Console Survivors, please at least try the crossplay...

"Until DBD runs at a stable 60 fps for Xbox"
My dude - if you wanted stable framerates, let alone a stable 60fps, you shouldn't have went to way of consoles.
2 -
lmao you're scaring me!
😨

I'm on PS4 and will try it out. If it's no good, then I'll turn it off. I'm planning on playing several matches before having to do something like that though.

Stretched res is likely being patched out soon.
Hackers are exceedingly rare unless you're a streamer who is being stream sniped. In 3500 hours on PC I've seen one hacker.
That program that tells you who the killer is was patched. It doesn't work anymore.
Game file modifications? You mean custom perk icons? Oh yeah. *huge advantage there*.
4 -
Sooooo much advantage with custom perk icons, they should waste their time trying to fix it.
2 -
I'm playing on the standard Xbox one and my survivor games especially used to be almost 60 FPS, hell sometimes 60 FPS. Now it is terrible, so clearly there is potential for this game to run good on the standard consoles also. Until that potential is achieved crossplay will be off for me personally.
0 -
Godspeed to you, I see no qualms with that. From what I heard the latest patch has hurt performance across the board, People should be able to play the game they paid for, regardless of platform. I'm trying to speak out to the crowd who think they wont stand a chance against PC players.
1 -
It's perfectly doable to have good fps on console. Many developers do it.
1 -
Give PS4 and Xbox an exclusive option NOW.
0 -
The fact is, you're assuming without proof that this is a PC player, it could easily be Xbox / Switch / PS4 (idk what plat you're on).
2 -
Gonna try this out, does anybody know have they enabled end game chat for console? Please say yes
0 -
So basically you're saying if you don't have a PC don't even play this game?
0 -
I hate these elitist comments.
Bro, my Xbox X can run Gears 5 at 60 FPS 4k no problem. But DBD plays like someone shoved a turd in my disc drive. It's the game not the platform. Devs don't give a single fat ######### about console players, if they actually devoted the resources to it this game could run at a butter smooth 60 FPS on Xbox.
9 -
Kindly point out where I said that, or kindly keep your mouth shut. Thanks. :)
It's not an elistist comment. Up until a couple years ago I did most of my gaming on a PS4. Truth isn't elitist. It's truth that your average PC is more capable. It's truth that consoles are made of inherently weaker hardware with the purpose of lower energency consumption and high efficiency. It's truth that weaker hardware performs weaker. Nobody is saying DBD is well optimized - but to sit there and expect top quality performance out of your console based on tech from 2013 (yes, even the One X is using an architecture from 2013)...my dude get real. There's a reason that RDR2, one of the best optimized and most beautiful games of the last couple years, doesn't even have graphical settings on PC low enough to match what it looked like on consoles.
2 -
Well I went against my first PC huntress and she ragequit, lol
1 -
Keep in mind - the MMR was just disabled (meaning its back to rank based matchmaking), and while it was enabled, it allowed a lot of potato baby killers to get to red ranks because the game was feeding them baby survivors. So, now we have the issue of baby killers now being at red ranks. Thanks BHVR! lol
2 -
The truth is that the game could run just fine on console if the devs devote the resources to it. Plenty of games do it, with better graphics and run butter smooth. However we are merely an afterthought to them. They literally put in the bare minimum effort to get it functioning on console.
9 -
They will stand a chance but they will be at a disadvantage right now due to terrible FPS and occasional stuttering. That is why so many console players are asking for PS4 or Xbox one only matchmaking.
3 -
Again, not saying it's a well optimized game, but there are also other factors.
The game has an ambiance and atmosphere that needs to be maintained because it's a core part of the gameplay and balance. Map fog, debris scattering, shadows, draw distance etc. To lower any of those to help with performance (with the possible exception of draw distance, like they did with Switch) would probably create balance issues.
1 -
Just played my first game on cross play, everyone was PS4 besides a baby Dwight. Not sure if he was memeing or if he was just an absolute potate. They really need to enable the chat box, whats the point in adding these players to a friends list if there is no way to communicate? Or am I missing something?
0 -
I would take into consideration queue times. A majority of console players probably don't know how/don't even want to turn off cross play and that is going to be painful for your queues.
0 -
I think they assume that the friends system will be used for people who already know eachother, and talk on Discord.
0 -
Yes, but that is a performance issue not a balance issue. If devs were to actually fix framerates like they rightfully should have done already, then I would hope console players would not feel disadvantaged grouping against PC players, and then the devs might decide to open up other PC exlusive features like graphical options and Keyboard support, like other games have done.
However if the devs were to cave in and separate PC from matchmaking before optimization, then nobody would even try to play with them,it would alienate the PC playerbase and remove most of the benefits for matchmaking and game health. That's why I'm fine if people don't want to opt in now, but letting people separate from PC players is not the way to do things. This game CAN run at 60fps on consoles, so the devs should be making it a priority.
2 -
well I'm a lowly Xbox player but I'm going to keep cross-platform enabled. Can't improve unless you play against better players :)

PS4 player here
Out of six games I had one OK match.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1. PS4 Bubba (good match)
2. Wallhacking Spirit
3. Insidious Bubba with an Ebony Mori who was teleporting.
4. Laggy Billy
5. Laggy Bubba
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Safe to say Crossplay is #########. Now whether that's from the system itself being ass or players having garbage internet connection, I don't know.
3 -
What is your proof that they were wallhacking? I've got over 3500 hours on PC. I've seen one hacker. It'd be pretty wild if you saw one on day one of crossplay.
Insidious Bubba isn't exclusive to PC, and neither are laggy killers. But yes, let's pretend Insidious Bubba only exists on PC, and the Spirit was wallhacking rather than just using Stridor and a good pair of headphones. Solid rationale.
3 -
It's awful. Every single game is a lag fest.. I turned it off after 5 games and have noticed no queue differences
2 -
I stopped playing on PC around the time when the endgame update was released because it was a too big and extreme toxic community. And even if you blocked the player u got into lobbys with the same players again and again. Then the dedicated server came and hitboxes got broken. So I stopped but was still a fan of the game itself!
At the beginning of 2020 I bought dbd for the switch, started again and enjoyed the game until today. Medium large Community, I can block killers and survivor I never wanna see again, no hacks and searching for lobby was always fast. I played 5 games in Crossplay now and the same issues that I had on PC are there again but I guess much worse. Now I saw hacking survivors and killers and the amount of players is so high that blocking a player doesn´t matter anymore because there are still enough other players which are doing the same.
1 -
I have video proof of the Bubba.
The Spirit had NOED, Franklin's, Ruin, and Stridor, yet she knew exactly where everyone was at all times. I'm not guaranteeing cheating, but it was suspicious. She also had the crossplay symbol.
1 -
I swear you guys must have the worse luck in history because in 600 hours I think I saw 1-2 hacker and that was mostly when I just started playing, pretty sure you are just assuming they are hacking.
1 -
Video proof of the Bubba doing what? Lagging? or Insidious camping? And what do either of those things have to do with crossplay?
Also - the Spirit had stridor. Of course she knew where you were. Stridor on Spirit is broken - but again, that's not a crossplay issue. That's a game issue. I could jump on my PS4 right now and mop the floor with a lobby of survivors using a Stridor Spirit. It's that powerful.
1 -
How do you know those were PC players specifically? The crossplay icon doesn't specify it at all. You could have been paired against a switch Leatherface down in his actual basement with his modem in his kitchen. You also can still leave the lobby if the ping looks bad to you, the servers were a little wack for a while before today as well.
1 -
Why would I want to play against PC.
You have better frames per second
You have cheaters on PC
You have nurses who can use M and K
No thanks I'll stick to playing on console on an even playing field
6 -
Who here willing to go up against their favorite DBD Streamers on THEIR PC while you're on Console? 🤔
1 -
For me as a killer frame rate sucks. Sometimes people disappear in front of me, and i got aiming issues as well
2 -
- This is subjective - and pending you can at least stay at 30fps, with a controller you shouldn't be at much, if any disadvantage.
- Cheaters exist everywhere - but if you want to be real, after 3500 hours on PC I've only seen one hacker.
- You are at zero disadvantage as a survivor while using a controller. I play survivor exclusively with a controller on PC. It's even easier to 360 on a controller. Mouse and Keyboard killers will seem more powerful than your typical console killer at first, but you CAN adapt. Controller for survivor is not a hindrance.
All I read are excuses. Enjoy your 3 hour queue times.
1 -
Played like 10 games with it, and oh god it’s so laggy. If they fix that, and add the end game and pre game chats.
Id definitely do it more often. At the moment, it’s a no.
3 -
So this isn´t hacking?
And perma sprintboost for survivors are normal, so fast that they can overtake you across the map?
I have some hours on switch..... NEVER had this on switch.....
I have 5x more hours on PC than on Switch (and more than you) and when I quit PC dbd the hacking was nearly normal.... And I saw around the last 50h on PC between 10-20 hackers. I know it was getting better since then. Btw the killers I has in those 5 matches were all Rank 20-18. I think, that the hackers maybe made a new account only because of crossplay now. When I will play the next matches and see something like this happening, I will search their names on steam to proof that this are new accounts.
1 -
Hackers exist on other platforms as well, I have faced one on PS4. But they are overall rare these days, I have only faced 2 since switching to PC a year ago, including the one on PS4.
Your skill as a survivor is not affected by the Nurse with a mouse. PC survivors do not have an innate advantage that you as a console survivor lack. You ARE on the same footing as those survivors.
I admit that performance is terrible right now for consoles, and I won't blame you for opting out until this is fixed. But if it IS fixed and you have a stable framerate, please try opting back in. You as a survivor have the same potential as PC survivors to outplay killers.
1 -
This is me playing on PS4 a year ago. Hackers are NOT exclusive to PC.
Since making the swap I have only encountered ONE other hacker, overall they are extremely rare nowadays.
1 -
Ping doesn't mean anything. I've played matches with 40 ping and been hit on the other side of pallets several times.
0 -
I wouldn't call full on teleporting "lagging"
0 -
The que times are virtually identical for survivor with crossplay enabled and disabled. Killer is basically instant though.
1 -
I love how everyone acts like all hackers are going to be blatant as hell about it. A smart hacker would be much more subtle about the advantages they give themselves.
1 -
dbd for switch was released on sep 2019, not even a year ago. The Xbox and PS release was in June 2017. They had a lot more time to program hacks for any other console/PC than for switch. I agree that hackers are not exclusive to PC. But I never heard from any switch player who saw a hacker and couldn´t found any proof for a hacker on switch which wasn´t explainable with high ping.
1 -
Lagging can directly cause teleporting.
1 -
Nope, theres nothing from cross-play that benefits a console player. Wait times are the same for me also, garbage.
They couldnt even give us the chat function, we've to play together but not talk to each other at the start or end of a game.
2 -
I play both but prefer survivor and so far have had no issue with crossplay as survivor on Xbox, however I can certainly say when I tried to hop on killer they've been the worst experiences I have had on the game in a while.
1 -
Agree, like WTH we don't even get to see the end game chat? My wait times in lobby seem absolutely no different I dare say a TAD BIT LONGER actually.
1 -
There's literally no upside to crossplay on console.
