How would we be able to contact crossplay players?
You can send them a friend request, but that's about it. How else would you be able to message them. They don't even know what platform you are playing on.
This is why we need pre-game lobby chat and also post game chat.
And for the players who don't want it to be in the game for consoles because it's too toxic? Disable it and move on.
Crossplay is good. With chat it would be even better. But they can take their time with that. Crossplay itself / without chat is also good. Well done.
And also, I can't understand people who say "Crossplay is the worst change ever made". How about disabling it? They knew some Rank 16 console players don't like crossplay, so they added that option just for you.

I play on PS4 and I’m honestly really glad that there’s no chat. Too toxic.

I haven't bought a console since Xbox 360, so I may be wrong on this but... don't all console players have unique gamertags?
So you could probably open up the Xbox game companion app on Windows (or login to xbox's website) and search for them there if you want to message them. Not 100% sure on this, but perhaps this is a way for you to get in contact with players. Could work in a similar way when trying to contact playstation 4 players too, but am unsure tbh.
You'd have to guess what platform they're on, though.
Also just to say: I love interacting with players so not being able to chat with players from other platforms kinda puts me off cross-play. I have found myself playing more games with it disabled than with it on just because of the communications barrier.

Im not entirely sure ps ToS lines up with xbox ToS, which would make chatting difficult to implememt without moderation. And I know no chat aligns with nintendo ToS so those players just wouldnt be allowed into the party regardless lol.

PC and Xbox can use party chat together. Did it today with a friend who was on PC. But.. he's on my xbox friends list already, if he wasn't then no there's no way to communicate because the See Profile option is grayed out on crossplay users

I think BHVR moderates the inGame chat on PC. So they also should be able to do it with the other platforms typing something inGame. You can get banned in DbD if you type something bad in the chat.

If you are on ps4 you dont know if a chat would be toxic or not plus you can always close the chat and its the same as before.
With the option to basically remove the chat i dont understand people that are immediately against an implementation of a chat.

Are you kidding me? Lol. Chats are nearly always toxic in video games, because people don’t know how to use their manners online.
If I could disable the chat entirely, fine, but that doesn’t change the fact that I don’t want it at all. I couldn’t care less about getting a chat system going. I like that it doesn’t have that feature. But that’s my opinion, and you’re entitled to yours.

Nah. There is no rudeness whatsoever. We are just having a discussion.
I’m against it because I simply don’t like it. Most of the time, chats in video games involving competition bring out the worst in people. I think people are just better off without reading all that negativity.

That i understand some players can be really mean and hurtful when they get owned.
To be honest i dont really care about the aftergame chat more the pre game chat to write stuff like: i have plunderes pls leave chests or i have bt let me unhook etc.
Its kind of annoying not having a way to communicate and seeing that on pc this is possible.

That's because all PS players are trash killers who only know how to camp hooks, tunnel, and hover. Seriously it's made the game not fun anymore.
