The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

why do people care about graphics so much over gameplay?

Personally i'd prefer if a game was not good looking if it means the game can be...well...a game.

The new graphics are good looking...but:

The killer is legion, but somehow worse

The yamaoka map is even harder to see through

Badham is so crowded it's nearly unplayable

They made graphics better, but not hitboxes

new graphics chug the performance way too much.

I don't know about you, but I play a game to play a game, not to gawk at. It's trying to appeal more towards people that watch DBD content than people who want's to play a game.

I saw some people start referring to the new killer as a demolegion. 😂

The graphic updates are nice but I'd rather they focus on bug fixes and optimizing console than making old maps look prettier. I usually don't spend time walking around a map looking at pictures on a wall unless I'm farming... Or there's a bug that's made me stuck in one spot... 🤷‍♀️

the only people who care about graphics are the financial aim of BHVR. Nowadays you need a good graphic to gain more public, but everybody at high ranks plays dbd with low graphics.

Zoomers like shiny objects. Back in my day we had a 2D space and we had two buttons, a start and select button, and a directional pad and we were happy with it.

The people who did the graphics will not have anything to do with the Balance of the game.

Graphic Updates are cool. And even if they would not have brought a graphic Update, the content of the PTB would have been the same.

OP never said that, OP said that would like more than that, that they actually fix bugs or gameplay problems.

The people who did the graphics are different to the ones who balance it.

I think one doesn't slowdown the other.

It would have been easier to see and there would be less object placed everywhere. In order to make the graphics look good, they had to change some of the map's context.

I don't think I've seen one single person that said anything like "I think the graphics of this game are more important than how it plays to me."

Not one. Maybe they exist and I'm just not seeing it. Like a previous comment said though, why wouldn't you want a better looking game? I'm pretty sure different teams work on that kind of crap.

I’m on board of fix my damn bug before you give me better graphics. The game looks fine as is. But if my survivor lags on a vault and I take a hit or I spam attack button and nurse just freezes up them fatigues then it’s not desirable to play. So what good are graphics if you lose half of your community because you chose to put money into a graphics buff instead of fixing what’s there. As a dev what if you take your car to shop and you know it’s the water pump and you tell said mechanic it’s definitely my water pump so when you go back to get your car they say well sir your tires were bald so we put tires on it. I know you said you have water pump issues but your tires are more important at the moment. So here’s your bill pay up sucker. So I feel when I buy killers, skins survivors and others stuff I spend my money on. So I feel as if my money should be dedicated to my play experience along with graphics. I’m sorry behavior but you better be on notice because one day someone with get enough people on board to say hey fellow consolers let’s boycott DbD on there next killer release and not buy a damn thing until they start to listen about our problems. I don’t know about anyone else but I’m tired of spending my hard earned money on a game that has this many bugs. Sorry for rant guys but from past post I’ve been reading the only folks that will see this is you guys. Behavior has bothered to respond to any of y’all’s requests I’m no different

Personally I have never ever seen anyone asking for graphics updates. I thought the game was looking just fine and esp when they cant really optimize it in general I wouldnt bother asking that ever

Tbh graphic is very important to me. And the update is so great! I didn't even had fps drops. And My pc is 3 years old. So it's not a new one and I had so much fps drops before. They really optimised it more than before.

Trust me, those players will be turned off in a mere second once they realize how the game is played.

Because a lot of people enjoy games visually. People just Last of Us for it's story and visually stunning detail. Imagine if Last of Us was made with roblox/minecraft graphics. Wouldn't be nearly anywhere as popular as it is now.

With high quality graphics makes for the highest gaming experience in my opinion. Graphics is actually the first thing I look at in a game before deciding to play it.

I'm not saying a game CAN'T have good graphics, i'm saying that a game should put gameplay first before graphics. Cuphead's selling point is that it is animated like a retro 1920's cartoon, but despite that, they focused on making a polished, playable game first, then they made the graphics (yes, I know, there should at least be placeholders when developing a game. You can't make all of the gameplay without knowing what it looks like, that's impossible. I'm not saying the graphics should look the same as looking at video static).

DBD is clearly not polished enough to start looking toward graphics, it's a buggy and un-polished game, most (if not all) people agree on that. I'm not saying DBD is unplayable. I'm not even saying that DBD should NEVER update graphics. I'm saying the BHVR has a big game priority problem.

If you thing it help the immersion of the game...what? As you hit an invisible wall, run around a piece of wood, suffer game lag, having your arms broken in 70 different ways (that is unintentional), a cartoony circle in the middle of the screen, flying 10 miles off the ground, Duplicating yourself into 30 more of the same person, SEEING another person you are playing as, and seeing the same robotic movement over and over again, i'm pretty sure all sense of immersion is lost (and those are just a few examples). Those cannot be fixed with new graphics.

It’s on their list to look at all the maps and change the loops, tiles, size etc.

Whilst they’re changing it, might as well graphically update it, it’s logical.

The Devs are killing two birds with one stone. Efficiency!

There always should be a balance between them, but many of us have their own preferences when it comes to games. Some may prefer a smooth gameplay and dont be bothered by crapy graphics and some may play a game for its stunning graphics even if the gameplay is garbage or almost nearly mediocre.

I am the gameplay type of guy but i can't lie when I tell you that seeing BHVR getting rid of that blue chromatic scheme on MacMillan Estate made me open the game almost instantly, burn that offering and spend some more hours playing while also genuinely got me more interested in the game.

When the gameplay is bad you need good graphic but this game still have ps3 graphic even with the map upgrade. That why i think this game need a huge graphical update if i play assassin creed then i go play dbd right after i will start a headache after 10 minute because of the graphic

I like the graphics a lot, especially on the badham map but I think they should optimize the game anyway since the new ormond map is coming and the fps will start to drop brutally

I'd be elated if the next killer was a straight up black rectangle with a knife that looked menacing enough as long as it felt good to go against in terms of gameplay.

The new graphics decrease performance while not adding much of anything that wasn't in 2016 DbD in terms of atmosphere. The amount of intricacy in the minutia is unnecessary and leads to a lack of attention to a more complex, overall, mysterious feel.
