Someone explain to me how the MMR is turned off yet in about 6 different games with Cross play turned on/off, I’m still getting anywhere from Rank 8-1 when I’m a Rank 16 Killer?

Sorry you had to go through that but...

There are 0 killers on PS4, and the demand for them is insane.

I'm not sure how Cross play helped that, but....yeah.

I understand, I’m an OG player from when this game originally came out on PS4, but I don’t have the time to play like that anymore and want to play for fun but when I have to basically Face/Proxy Camp to get two. (They T-bagged at every whipstitch) And I’m not having any type of fun. That’s my biggest complaint.

It's because the matchmaking always sucked. MMR just made it suck a little more for a bit, seemed to finally be leveling out for a lot of people, including me, right when they turned it back off.

Or maybe they didn't turn it back off and just said they did so they could point out how peoples' perception of things influences their biases, who knows.

Because matchmaking was already garbage. They just turned the new jank off for the old jank.

Again? I thought since many killer on console opted out of crossplay and only a part of the survivor side stayed in, the ratio of both sides got better.

But I hear arguments in both directions, some like yours and others saying they get better queues on both killer and survivor. -.-

And again those posts more than often are missing key information like region, platform (mostly PS4 meant here) and daytime of playing.

That's not new that the matchmaking system is broken.

No matter your rank as killer, you'll always find high rank survivors.

No survivors at your rank apparently, pip as survivor is way more easy than killer

Because the old matchmaking is garbage too. MMR was a nice experience (at least for me).

its because matchmaking altogether just sucks. Any ranks can be paired with each other if one side has been waiting in queue for too long

mmr was just wayyyy worse, i played regularly but almost every match was against survivors who were playing their first game ever of dbd

MM suck already before the NEW MMR.

I mean they weren't trash for the same reason. The reason mmr was utter trash was because red ranks kept going against rank 20's. The rest was mostly (a "few" exceptions aside) fine and even better than the old system. Like I was getting good survivors vs the killers I was doing really really well on. And I was getting decent survivors against the killers I were playing for the first time in years (nurse and Billy) giving me a chance to practice them. And when I was winning a lot I was getting better survivors. When I was losing a lot I got worse survivors.

It wasn't perfect by any means, and if rank 20's/new players werent getting whiped off the face of the earth and getting insanely unfair matches I would have been against removing it.

You killed two of them. What exactly is the actual complaint here?

As others have pointed out, with the MMR turned off they went back to their old matchmaking setup which puts together matches based on ranks. It used to be a mess when it was restricted to one console, but with cross-play now active, the fact that it's still a mess goes to show just how poor of a matchmaking set up dead by daylight has. I'm a rank 14 killer myself, and I'm getting matched with people that are roughly 10 levels higher than me. It's ridiculous!

That’s been the case for me as killer for over a year. I play on PS4 and have almost always been matched against red ranked survivors when playing killer, regardless of my rank at the time. I assume it’s because there aren’t enough red rank killers, but it’s also very difficult to rank up with that kind of matchmaking.

When MMR was active, it was the closest my ranks/skill level has been in a long time. I actually enjoyed playing killer again. I hope they tweak it and re-release it.

Since all the console players have joined with PC (or vice versa, idc), I've seen a lot more purple ranked survivors in my games whereas before I'd see more red ranks. I think it's just a survivor glut.

Yeah when MMR launched people were pretty close-minded and forgot that the rank system was even worse. So they took us back to the stone ages right when MMR was gettin good.

You want to know the really funny part?

Rank-based matchmaking can often be just as much of a joke as the "MMR" system was, for the same exact reasons. I can be a rank 1 killer and be matched up with a bunch of rank 1 survivors. Except I'm trying a new killer out and have like 200 hours in the game, while all the survivors I go against could be a 4-man SWF with 6k hours each, or even just a bunch of solo queues with 4k hours each, in either case I'm at a tremendous experience disadvantage because we're both at the "top" of the rankings even though the skill gap will be enormous based on time played alone.

But people think because they see equal ranks that they're somehow getting more "fair" matches. Outside of going against obviously-brand-new rank 20s, rank seems to be functionally meaningless. But we heard the exact opposite for the entire duration of MMR's short existence.

because they took the new unbalanced matchmaking off. the old unbalanced matchmaking is still there. I actually do kind of believe the larger issue is attracting newer survivors into the game so that there can actually be enough people higher than 15 to make everyone have balanced games.

Gonna make an archive response of commonly explained answers. The reason your getting wonky ranks is likely so people aren't stuck in lobbies everyone wants matchmaking to be equal ranks but sometimes your playing at a time period where either there's a lack of survivors killers or just a general lack of people playing the game. Believe me you don't want hour long queue time's just so ranks can be correctly matched.
