Question to killer players.
Do you prefer to not have Whispers or run Whispers? I ask because me as a Killer I love knowing when someone is near to pinpoint exactly where they are so hiding is very hard for survivors. However if I don't run the perk it makes finding the last survivor pretty rough and makes me feel dumb knowing I might be looking in an area that no survivors are in. Just a curious thought would love to hear other peoples ideas behind their choice. One reason I could see why people prefer not to is to save that perk slot for specific builds, to not waste a slot, or to make the game more challenging.

Sometimes I run it, sometimes not. Depends on the killer, intended playstyle, and the importance of other perks.

Don't think i've ever ran whispers on my killer's. I've always preferred infectious fright over it.

Personally, no.
Whispers is only useful when there are 2 survivors left or when you patrol the exit gates.
I don't like saving perks to use in the last moment of the match and for this reason NOED also seems a useless perk to me.

I dropped Whispers since BBQ came out. Finding the first and last survivor of the game doesnt cut it anymore to me, there are stronger perks to track survivors. Some of them have more benefits, like Thrilling Thremors is a BBQ/Genslow-hybrid and BBQ itself is a better Whispers if you ignore hatch. I can see some uses for Doctor and Pig in particular, but generally i find it too weak nowadays.

I really dislike Whispers tbh. I don't find that much value from it, because I can find more value in other perks. I got some pretty ######### hearing too so having the noise being made in the background does actually hinder my tracking too (which is bad enough as is lol). I just dislike the perk, and I find that I can get more value from, say, BBQ, I'm All Ears, Nurse's, etc.

I find it's not that useful when I really need a perk to be useful. It is an amazing tracking tool for the start of the game... And that's the only time you really get it to shine. The moment you find someone, it becomes worthless in almost every situation bar a small, select few. Stealthing survivors? Whispers doesn't actually help, since they're usually so spread out you can't use your radar. Need a chase? Whispers doesn't actually help, since the person on the hook is taken into consideration and that's usually the time you need a chase the most barring stealthing survivors.

It helps most at the beginning and end of games, but I don't use it much because after awhile you get a sense for where people are anyway. If you watch some of the streamers with thousands of hours they look clairvoyant and know where people are before they do.

I run it on occasion, it definitely comes in handy when checking exit gates.

It's the best tracking perk in the game if you use it right. I almost always run it.

it'll probably take some getting used to like spine chilld oes, but once you get a feel for it like spine chill it'll always be able to work and provide some extra information like knowing good spots to phase as spirit or where to crouch and creep as ghost face... so long as they're not using spine chill ha ha ha. the problem is being limited in perk slots for killer because you also need something to delay or notify you on gens like sloppy or discord, and if using some like says urveillance they're best used in combo like surveillance+ruin and with only 4 perk slots I prefer less guesswork. So the list of kilelrs I'd go with whispers for over something is limited myself. But , I'm not an experienced killer, so much like with when I first started trying out spine chill I'm probably not using it well.

I use it on several killers. Love it on doc especially. Used to run it on LF a lot too for those last survivor kills.

Thank you all for answering I love the variety of play styles here <3

I don't feel it's accurate enough. I prefer "Spies..." personally

I run it on Doctor to know if my Static Blast will get value. Not a fan of it overall and I'll most likely swap it off when I get something better.

I never run Whispers.

I like whispers because finding survivors is really hard, especially early in the game.

I love it, probably one of my most used perks, if you know how to use it then it can be a real horror for survivors, it lets you know if someone is there and at endgame it's probably the strongest perk if there is only 1 survivor alive.

It really depends on the killer. Ones like Huntress and Billy where I can drop a perk slot and finding survivors is difficult due to loud lullaby/chainsaw, it is insanely powerful. People often get confused about its worth, saying that there are better tracking perks, but the true value of Whispers is that it tells you where survivors aren't. If I come across a gen that's been worked on at either early or late game, without whispers I'll likely spend time searching around the gen for someone hiding. But if I have Whispers and see that it's not lit, I immediately know I'd be wasting my time and move on.

I love whispers. It's great for both beginning pressure to find a survivor before the 1st generator and to ensure that 4k in the end. Also it helps in between of course, it's a go-to perk for killers in my opinion.

Depends on the killer. I tend to only run Whispers on Huntress, occasionally using it with the Hillbilly.

I would tune it out while using it because I'm so immersed in regular audio and crows. Now I wouldn't even run it because I don't need tracking perks to get a sense of where certain players might be. On my gen builds I run alarm perks anyways so I'm always chasing someone and on my basement builds survivors end up gravitating towards the shack anyways.

Whispers is a coin toss because it helps a lot in early or late/endgame but useless mid game

Whispers is phenomenal on doctor with his shock therapy, and as others have stated it's definitely handy to have when it comes to finding the last survivor. But otherwise it can be a bit of a pain since Whispers does take into account people you've hooked, so it won't accurately tell you who's nearby another hooked survivor.
With so many other better tracking perks like thrilling, BBQ, bitter murmur, etc, Whispers - while nice - isn't as accurate. Even at level 3 the radius is it tad too big.

I've used a Whispers a few times, but often I find myself not using the information from whispers to track survivors outside of finding the first survivor and running a perk just to find the first survivor when I already have a good idea where they spawned is not really that worthwhile to me.

Depends on the killer. I like it on Pig, because I can match it with M&A and know when I should crouch.

I used to run it all the time, because of how useful it was. Overtime, though, I found myself too reliant on it. Once you learn the mindset of survivors you can kind of predict or take really good guesses as to where they might be. I think it's better to ween yourself off of Whispers at some point so you can add in a much stronger perk for the slot.

I like it if you don't have any other tracking perks. Finding hiding survivors is super useful, especially in end game.

I like Whispers and will usually bring it if I don't need a 4th perk slot for whatever build/killer I'm currently using (provided I actually have Whispers III on that killer, Whispers I & II aren't very helpful).
I do agree with Khar though, it is a perk I've been forcing myself to use less in favor of other perks that are arguably more valuable in the middle of a trial (the value of Whispers is primarily in how you can use it at the very beginning and very end of a trial). Though realistically, I just alternate it with Discordance, my other favorite tracking perk. I mainly prefer to load up on tracking perks to help with those matches where audio/visual elements get derpy, which happens more than I'd like it to on console.
I used to have a similar addiction to Spine Chill on the survivor side of things.

I never use it as it's too imprecise/confusing to me. All it really tells me is that a survivor is nearby (or maybe I just don't know how to use it well) . I much prefer stridor

I'll use it if theres an opening in a build I'm making and theres not already a tracking perk, it's a good perk I just dont think about it enough to make it work to it's full strength.
