What Am I Doing Wrong? - Killer (Shape) Edition

so I've been playing for a while and I'm mostly a killer main with a bit of survivor here and there. I know the basics of chasing, mindgaming, etc. Shape, Legion, and Pyramid Head are my mains with Shape being my primary main.

for some reason every time I get to around rank 8 or so, I start getting completely trounced. I have all the perks on good ol' Miguel and most of his addons (minus a few that just...refuse to show up for some reason) so theoretically I could use any build, but unless the survivors I'm going up against are absolute potatoes, I get completely wrecked unless I play cheap (tunnel, perma t3, etc) and I don't wanna be that guy.

basically what I'm asking is, are there any tips or tricks I'm just not getting? I've watched a ton of videos about playing killer but it feels like no matter what I do, I'm just not getting how these guys are so good. and I don't wanna resort to making the game unfun for everyone else just so I can get a few kills once in a while.

I had the same issue for a while. If you practiced mind gaming in lower ranks then what you’re about to learn is your mind games didn’t work because you did them right. They worked because way more survivors below purple ranks don’t know how to mind game and screwed up.

I got past that wall by relearning literally everything and breaking all of the bad habits I didn’t even know I picked up.

Mindgames that work against green ranks don't really work against higher ranks. You just have to do a double mindgame. Which means make the survivor think you are going to mindgame and not actually mindgame. Which means playing like a rank 20 is very unpredictable at high ranks.

The issue is that your playing a slow killer who needs to snowball off of survivor's mistakes(Such as letting you get out of tier 1 quickly) and against good survivors michael can be completely locked out of the game based on how walls spawn + survivor's knowing how to use them.

You might need to run early game slowdown/group up so you can get out of tier 1 in a reasonable amount of time which your pretty much restricted to corrupt intervention with Monitor and Abuse.

The Shape without its power functions like any base speed killer except Evil Within 1. When you stalk to tier 3, but don't want to use it yet, be sure it has alot of progress beforehand.

Starting a trial, use Michael's lack of Red Stain and Terror Radius to your advantage, but keep in mind you cannot gain bloodlust in a chase. If it is not cutting out, advance to tier 2, and now Michael should be at 16m Terror Radius give or take what perk/add-ons you do or do not bring.

Tier 3 speaks for itself when applied to your knowledge of loop skill. It is mainly using your Terror Radius' small range to get close with less reaction time from survivors, even if they have Spine Chill.

    Evil Within 3 pro tip:

    - Since it has faster base kit Bamboozle without the block, window long wall jukes do not work on The Shape.
