How to ‘counter’ clicky clicky survivors

I used to get frustrated whenever I was playing killer against survivors who were constantly clicking the flashlights on and off, but I recently realized the majority of survivors who were doing it were intentionally trying to start a chase.

In most cases (at least with good survivors) the clicky clicky is a distraction to pull killer away from something important like a gen that’s about to get done or a healing team mate. It’s also commonly used with SWF groups who can call our when to start a distraction.

It can be helpful to think about what they are trying to pull you away from before committing to a chase.

An example of this working would be that I downed someone on death hook, slugged and looked for another survivor. Rather than having to look someone runs in front of me and starts clicking, this tells you that they’re very eager to start a chase. Using that info I decided to check up on the slugged survivor, and sure enough their teammate was about to finish picking them up. By realizing the nature of the clicking I was able to prevent a pickup and continue applying pressure.

The clicky people are of no importance. What is is to defend the gens and only commit to chases early on if you know you'll get a quick down. If all they do is click, then they are effectively reducing 4 survivors doing useful stuff to 3, which is fantastic for the Killer!

Yeah thats pretty much it. If they click, they want you to chase them. Check if they are a good looper. If true, go find someone else and don't actively go for that person unless they are out of position. Kill their friends and hook them, they are the clicky clicky persons problem now.

Sloppy butcher can be useful, since many clicky clicky person brings medkit or self care. This waste their time a lot.

They can't do gens if they're clicking a flashlight

If I'm out of position and I have a flashlight I start clicking it to make you think I want you to chase me, but in reality I'm kind of boned and hope you think I want you to chase me so you won't chase me.

    Mindgames.

I was going to say this, just chase someone else and they will probably chase you both... if you can ignore the clicking that’s two survivors out of play at once

I often get clicked at when there's a few survivors to choose from, and one wants attention, often because one is dead on hook or something like that. I'm generally not a dick as killer and won't intentionally tunnel if I have an equally healthy survivor next to them, but if you click, you better believe I'm going for the other one until you learn not to be an attention seeker.

Best part is it usually means 3 hits instead of 2 because as soon as you down the other person, clicky will be behind the nearest object waiting to blind you.

Lol, this reminds me that the other day I ran into one of these clicky clicky survivors but I had a mori and they kept trying to flashlight me out of it (?????). Then, I broke a pallet and they blinded me so I shot blind and landed a chain into them and mori'ed them.

Both them and their SWF disconnected. It was beautiful. In that moment I knew no greater happiness. I was at peace.

Survivors like this are not dangerous if they just running around. As Killer I much more triggered by survivors with Object of obsession looking at me while doing a gen across the map. There I feel helpless like rank 20 again.

I usually ignore them because I know they are just trying to bait, or distract me. Shamed to say what *does* get me to chase them is when they constantly blind me during the pickup animation. I just get mad at that point and start targeting them out of revenge and anger.

If they are sweaty competitive 4 man swf

    Then the killer probably f*ck.

Only Mastered Nurse and Spirit could stop them.

I just play Doctor and shock them. Madness 3 disables the use of items, including flashlights.

    Franklin's Demise.

It's extremely tempting to do as a survivor, because the sound effects are as delicious as they are very annoying for the killer, we know that. It's provocation. That's why we shouldn't show the slightest sign of annoyance and ignore these probably very self-assured survivors (and they might be right), and take them by surprise on occasion. Don't forget that they are there when you pick up a survivor, and that they have flashlights...

I'm not going to make friends, but I think it deserves an equally trolling limitation. I'm thinking about the fact that light bulbs can... burn out, and this follows a probability law (Poisson distribution ?).

A number of "clicks" should be guaranteed in a use considered normal, acceptable (this number would be displayed on the item, decreasing with each click), then beyond... the bulb should burn out randomly, the probability increasing with the number of clicks, rendering the lamp permanently unusable, exhausted. This should calm all survivors, without completely banning the practice. I can already imagine an animation of flashlights burning in front of a killer: that would be really delicious too.

I just usually run Franklin's. Not to troll, I just like to use it as a slow-down/bait tool.

I noticed a lot of survivors got greedy for their items, and I found it helpful.

Later on, though, I figured out how to be a little sneaky about the clicky-clicky peeps. I guess people don't really expect FD, so I let them get brave and then make them drop the flashlight. Then I have a good idea of where they're gonna come back to after I'm done chasing their friend.

I don't know if it's different on PC but I'm on PS4 and can't even rotate while picking up a survivor, but I'm still vulnerable to the flashlight and if they have any add ons it's more than enough time to blind me

Clickers are harmless and useless. I consider them pets who follow me around begging for attention from its master. Sad, pathetic creatures, but I owe them a many 4K or disconnect.

If gen tapping made a clicking sound that would probably get me. DONT TOUCH MY BABIES!

You have to be looking away before you pick them up, you cannot rotate once locked in the animation

I've tried that, but the still finagle their way in front of me. Most often it's with a buffed purple light as well so it takes less than a second to blind me. I hate to give them props for it, but I have to, I can't do ######### with the light as a survivor.

  • NivlacACE
    NivlacACE Member Posts: 78

They can’t blind you if you’re looking at a solid wall though. If you can’t find one then slugging and chasing off the friend might be a better option

Ignore them, but try to pretend it frustrates you. They'll follow you around, essentially turning the trial into a 3v1 because they're not working on generators. Much easier to deal with.

  • SnakeSound222
    SnakeSound222 Member Posts: 4,467

That doesn’t always work, you can get blinded from the side and even from behind. It seems like if even the smallest strand of light is touching your face, then it acts like all of them are.

I do my best to find the one hiding nearby and chase then off. By default now I target flashlight players first.

I ignore them. Sometimes they follow you around and tbag, which is good because it is one person off the gens.

When they notice that I ignore them, they often get cocky and make mistakes, which mostly leads to them DCing or me laughing at them on the hook.

If it's a SWF and one of them randomly starts clicking at me I instantly check the nearby lockers and corners. The number of times i've found another survivor lol. It's usually because they are trying to save their team mate who isn't a good runner.

I've only ever clicked in the killer's face in situations where the killer decided to tunnel me off hook and I was defenseless.

Just letting them know I acknowledge that they are a scumbag.
