Rank-2: Disconnect on the FIRST Down
Ok. This demonstrates a total lack of pride or self-respect. I had just started a match, and a Claudette disconnected on the very first down. She left her teammates to play me 3v1 when the game had barely started. This annoyed me, but what can I do. The game went on and in a predictable way it was a slaughter. One got out via Hatch. I just barely got a Pip (I was lucky). That is what a disconnect does; it screws over all the remaining players, Killer or Survivor.
Then I saw the person who disconnected was a RANK-2. Do they have some sort of protection so that they can manipulate the system, i.e. not lose a Pip and be given the benefit of the doubt? Killers do not have that protection. If so, I can see this person unethically disconnecting themselves to their current Rank. I reported it of course, but this is really disgusting behavior.

They have no protection. There's already a penalty system for dc's. A report won't do anything.

At least she waited until being downed. Some will disconnect on loading screen after being tunnelled in the lobby

She didn't even get tunneled. I put the first hit on several people before I came back to her. I found it hard to believe it was a Rank 2 how easily I got on top of her. That is why I wonder if there is a way to manipulate the d/c to avoid losing a Pip. All in all, that is just very poor sportsmanship and destroyed whatever chance her teammates had of doing well in that game.

I don't even know if it depips you anymore bc people were doing it to derank. That's why they reduced it before from losing 2 pips to 1 anyway afaik.
But yeah any survivor will end up rank 1 if they play enough, regardless of quality.

This game is so buggy I don't blame either side if they choose to DC and I for one never DC and I'm for the penalty being there, I play on console every now and again and this last update totally f'd everything up to the point I'm just sticking to PC until it's optimized so I feel kinda sorry for those who only have that as an option at this time

It still depips you. It's just that nobody does that anymore to derank because of the timeouts.

There was nothing "buggy" about the game we were playing. The Claudette just disconnected the second I downed her. And I DO blame people for bad sportsmanship. I play every game to the bitter end. If you are EVER in a game and you see Mr. Moundshroud has disconnected either my internet went down or my heart went out. It is so disrespectful and has so little dignity.

While I agree with what you're saying and I hate DC probably just as much, I've just learned to get over it BHVR should already have the bots that replace people 4 years into this game instead of the disaster in place now, while I myself would never disconnect intentionally I mean you never know what's happening on the other end of that , one time I afk in a match because my wife was having a medical emergency and I saw that I was slugged with crows when I walked back through the room and DC to take care of the real problem going on , got all kinds of insults but I don't care I didn't DC from the start to give people points but I had much more important things at hand

Some players are like that. I dont really blame someone when DCing against a Mori or Iri Head Huntress, I can totally understand that. But being downed is not one of the BS-Things in this game. You will always have people who DC because of stupid reasons, either because they first got downed, because they dont like the Killer or because a Gen got done.
Thats why we need the DC-Penalty. At least this Claudette would not be able to ruin another game for a few minutes, and if she is DCing quite often, maybe for even longer.

While it may be scummy to dc I wonder why you are thinking about attributes like self respect and pride in a video game. At the end of the day games are played for fun and nothing else (unless you're a streamer who pretends to enjoy the game to pay the rent) so sone people will obviously just disconnect if the game's not fun for whatever reason. Nothing will ever change that so why even make a fuss about it?

When DCs happen against me.
Grab off a gen, especially at the very start of a game.
FIrst down. Some people just can't handle being the first person hooked.
When someone tbags or clicks at me and then quickly goes down in the ensuing chase. Couldn't bully the killer so DC?
Someone who's on death hook goes down. Guess these ones are fine but that's like up to 10 seconds you could be buying your team and you're about to die anyways so just take the death and your BP.

I had a rank 1 Nurse disconnect yesterday. She chose the Game map and had purple add ons. I was first to be chased within probably 15 seconds of the start of the match and after maybe 45 seconds of a chase (no gems popped) she gave up and disconnected. End game screen showed she was still rank 1 so don't think she lost a pip for the DC.

How we conduct ourselves in play is a direct reflection of how we conduct ourselves in life. If one cannot even display basic common courtesy in a make-believe game, it means they are waste of space in the real world too. Good sportsmanship is the most basic of lessons we learn, and probably only the second or third as we grow up. I make a "fuss" about it because such people deserved to be shamed. Society, and this gaming community is a society of a sort, only functions well based on common morays and etiquette. So yes, when people act like human garbage, I'm going to call them on it.

Sorry to burst your bubble but in-game behaviour reflects absolutely nothing about a person. One can act like a toxic, disgusting, childish kid in Dead By Daylight while being the most precious, caring and terrific human being in the real world.

Some games make it so cheaters have to play each other, at least for awhile. It would be hilarious if in addition to the DC penalty your very next match is against other people who DC'ed.

Why? The Mori? Please. Killers don't disconnect just because we see keys or four tool kits. Grow a backbone.

Well no #########. Toolboxes are basically useless now and keys can be played around. They're not even remotely comparable to moris which are outright cancerous. I don't need to "grow a backbone" because I'm trying to play a game and have fun. There is nothing fun about playing against moris.
By the way, I main killer. If you bring a key, you're going for a hail mary. If you bring a mori, you're being a #########.

Why sell yourself short on a guess? Had a round just last night where we had 3 escape (including myself) against a pink mori packing Freddy. Just because they bring a mori doesn't mean they are good and you're doomed. Every now and then you get a confidence boost from being able to overcome the odds stacked against you. In fairness we were a 3 stack SWF but the random was one of us that survived it. Go solo Q :)
