I kinda miss old Freddy!
Im watching videos of old Dead by Daylight and I can say that it looked way more scarier. Then Freddy appeared, there is something unique about old Freddy boi. His play style was different back then and he was pretty amazing now that I’m thinking about it. I would trade new Freddy for Old Freddy any day. His play style was different, exciting, and challenging. Back then he required more skill, now even a baby could play him. I’m not asking for a change, just simply remembering the good times I’ve had 4ks with Freddy. Anyway, do anyone else miss old Freddy?

No. Never. His old power was becoming an m1 killer to survivors he's used his power on. That is completely garbage. He may have been overbuffed, but he doesn't deserve to revert to that. No killer should at that level of weak.

I kinda hate new freddy*

Current Freddy is just overwhelmingly strong. He just has way too much for a single Killer. Like, he works and is beatable, but sometimes it just feels so obnoxious.
Old Freddy on the other hand was just boring. You cannot apply pressure at all and have no control over chases whatsoever. Sure, there are strategies to slow the game down, but Freddy would be limited to just that: slowing the game down.

Except he always knew where they were at on the map and for those not awake, they never knew the direction he came from.

No. That version is gone for a reason.

I miss old Freddy too. I was really good with him too. I knew how to stall the game and get survivors to continually waste time. He was excellent. I was very sad when they announced the rework.
He’s good now. I just wish I could still play old Freddy.

OH GOD THEY'RE BACK

The problem with old freddy was he was so different from other killers the devs were probably scared to make that version good enough.
Old Freddy was very weak but he could have been buffed to be better but they decided to make him how he is now because he had aura reading outside his 24 meter terror radius, complete invisibility until survivors were in the dreamworld, passive phasing in transition and slowdown when they were asleep.
He was a complete noob stomper cause he was so different from all the other killers so they wanted to streamline him and take away all the uniqueness.

I miss the idea, but not the execution.

I kinda miss him too. He was the first killer I got to red ranks with so there's that nostalgia aspect I guess. The only thing I really hated about him was how easily screwed over he was by self care and adrenaline, which were both way more meta back then. Also survivors just finishing gens in your face but the blocks could give you a nice grab instead (remember grabs? More nostalgia)

If they don't wake up and were also a certain distance away. They had a few different options to wake themselves up to, alarm clock, fail a skill check, have someone else wake you up, IIRC adrenaline, be hooked (Not exactly a good way tho) They never knew what direction he came from, but he also couldn't touch them in that state.

Old Freddy was my first main. He added a lot of flavor to the game and wasn't even that bad so long as you played him as a stalling killer who tried to slowly create dead zones. Also class photo was low-key the strongest addon in the game.
The rework was absolutely terrible from a design standpoint. It made him strong but removed every aspect of his kit that was fun or unique. He's just a stat check at this point. I had to stop playing him a couple months after the rework dropped because his gameplay loop became totally stagnant.
My biggest regret was not getting to try furtive chase on him. Might've actually made him good. Seems like the perk was designed specifically to help him but then they reworked him a month later so idk.

Alarms clocks didn't exist and I don't recall Teammates being able to wake you up. You had to either fail a skill check or a Teammate fail a skill check while they healed you.

I didn't unlock furtive chase on him in time but I tried it in kyf with some mates paired with paint brush and it was beautiful

I miss old Freddy too. New Freddy is impossibly easy to 4K with.
id love to be able to go back and play old Freddy.

there were so many hit and run builds you could do with him which i hope to one day do again but for now we have passive slowdown addons so yay i guess

An actual unique concept that could've been refined and changed to actually work. But Instead with their rework we got Reddit's version of a perfect killer. So interesting.

My problem is he's too powerful for being so easy.

Freddy is normally invisible in the real world... I don't understand why the killers in DBD don't respect the source...

Before I had the 4 survivors more than 20 games in a row with him. Today I don't win any games... either because I regressed or because of the crossplay...
Ps: Loops are my main weakness !

I wish the rework actually gave him original abilities. Instead what we got is a killer that does too much with recycled killer abilities to boot.

Freddy was my first Rank 1, and damn, that double letter block combo caught survivors off guard every damn time! Plus I only lost like 2 matches, and one was a Pig game LOL

Id just like to play old versions of killers on kyf like old billy bubba freddy nurse and doc.

yeah, I messed up with those two. But still, The two I mentioned were still good options due to the fact that he wouldn't even be able to attack you while you were awake. The fact that you had to wait 6-7 seconds before being able to become an m1 killer to you is BS.

But the benefits outweighed the cons. When you catch 2-3 of them, sleep all of them and chase after one. Now you got 2 other Survivors trying to wake up, while you down the other. And you ALWAYS know where the other 2 are at, even when they wake up because of the noise notification. Being able to come up on them in any direction without them knowing also worked.

Yeah I wish you could to, but it's probably never gonna happen sadly

Yes, they do try to wake up, and can do it fast too. You know where they WERE at, they can easily move to a different position. Freddy was weak, and we don't need the old version back.

They could’ve given him a secondary power that can affect awoken survivors. And added that stacking rebuff to survivors waking up other survivors.

He has counter play thats hella boring. Waking up is just like sitting on a gen. He is powerful, he has mobility, anti loop, and addons that make you sit on gens even longer. I don't want everything to be like, NURSE hard or anything, but a powerful killer should be hard to learn, and freddy and spirit are not.

And chaining tiles correctly, not leading the killer to teammates, helping teammates at the right time to do so, are skillful things on the survivor side. Theres probably more, but I don't ever really play survivor anymore.

Old Freddy took half a brain to play well, but the skill celing was just as low as new freddy. He was pigeonholded into just using the same perk builds. Swf destroyed him. And not just in the case of "4 man sweat squad 1%" but a casual relatively new team could easily bust him wide open with comms.
He was only enjoyable in very niche circumstances. I don't miss the aura reading aspect though. That was always terrible.
I mained old Freddy and the 100 second gate build was my favorite build on any killer ever but at least new Freddy is actually a threat. Even if he's a little TOO easy play well with.

He really wasn’t that bad, I just miss the Easter eggs of the old Freddy.

You had to have good fundamentals about mindgaming and herding survivors as a killer with old Fred. And knowing when to drop a chase and let the survivor waste time trying to wake up. Some of the posts on here I see make me think thats quite the rarity nowadays.

You literally just described The Wraith
