Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

If you could erase or rework a specific map, which one would it be and why?

Survivors have trouble in Hawkins and The Game, and Killers have trouble at Red Forest and Corn Fields

I would make corn fields a bit smaller and that's it, I don't think any other map should be moved, what do you guys think, with which map(s) do you have trouble?

Cornfields 100% the amount of dead zones are just too much.

Rework Midwhich, its my favorite map aesthetically, but it sucks to play on both sides. My second would probably be Lerys, since its the posterchild for map dependency.

Probably Haddonfield or the Asylum. Haddonfield is just miserable and the Asylum has WAY too many safe pallets and the main building is kind of a problem.

Ormond?! What do you have trouble with there, I'm curious

I would erase Rotten Fields, Shelter Woods, and Wreckers’ Yard because they all lack any unique qualities and are totally RNG. Some maps, like Azarov’s Resting Place and Blood Lodge, should be combined with existing maps in their respective realms and have their main buildings modified to include breakable walls and become less, if not completely rid of, RNG-dependent.

Dead Dawg Saloon should set the standard for future map creation. Keep in mind, even the saloon isn’t a perfect map either and there’s always room for improvement.

    Lery's.

    F**k that map.

Corn maps I find are a pain to play on for both sides. The performance of the game seems to get ten times worse on them for me atleast.

I normally would say cornwind, but I have been playing a lot of billy and they are probably his best maps.

Possibly lerys, not only does it have a god awful framerate, it also has the most annoying layouts and tiles in the game.

cant really decide between Ormond and Haddonfield tbh.

both are so extremely unfair towards the killer, its not even funny at this point.

Haddonfield is almost 4 years old now - and it still hasnt been balanced. just... let that sink in.

I just don't like it as killer or survivor. When it launched on console there was a bug that caused the killers game to crash anytime they loaded into Ormond. First impressions were bad and can't see aura's. I remember games as killer where I literally gave up because I could not see aura's of gens lol

Agreed with everything, these maps don't have anything especial to give them personality. Azarov and blood Lodge's buildings are too dull, but i think it would be good if you combined both with each other.

People hate Midwich but one thing i like is that the layout of the map is really easy to memorize, the rooms never switch places. I wish this was standard to every indoor map.

I would obliterate Rotten Fields. That map has no redeeming quality.

I would rework Haddonfield and Ormond. They're both due for a graphical update so might as well nerf how strong certain loops are in those maps.

Haddonfield and Ormond deserve to be annihilated.

Shelter woods, blandest map on the entire game. Totems are extremely easy to find with deadzones being prevalent throughout the entire map. I would personally add a cave system underneath the map to make it more dynamic.

I'd get rid of Rotten Fields and Shelter Woods. Empty and boring.

Also, I LOVE the game... but I wish that was the name of the realm and that the specific map was "Gideon Meat Packing Plant." I desperately want the house from Saw 2 as a map and others from later installments (like part 5) could perhaps be a thing as "The Game pt 2" for example.

I guess Haddonfield. That map is long overdue.

2 swamp maps, too boring with many dead zones and it just looks depressing. I hate playing it as both roles, idc if it's survivor/killer sided

Ormond it’s very hard to control gens since they’re so spread out and the loops are hard to mind game too.

    • Turn up the default brightness on all maps a bit. The Game’s lower level and Yamaoka at night are black screens, running around not being able to see walls and objects and opponents is really annoying. I turn my monitor brightness up a notch just for this game because it’s too dark.
    • Corn is super annoying. If I never saw another cornfield again I’d be happy.

Definitely Underground Complex. As a survivor, that map is so damn hard to win on, most of the loops are really bad, stealthily is also really hard with the floor color, and a lot of the gens are located in positions where the killer can easily ambush you.

All the corns maps, it's just ugly maps, we can't see anything

Don't touch my indoor maps 😡

    the game.

the underground is too dark to the point I can bump into things that can not be seen. Just please put some form of light source in there.

Most indoor maps are miserable to play on since there is no GRASS to hide in. If they were to balance the game it would be fixing indoor maps in such a manner where there would be less WINDOWS next to doorways. Depending upon the layout of the map. It can favor one side more than the other.

Coldwind Farm has the problem now for survivors where the only safety zones are on the outside of the map and cow tree.

    I'm not even sure.

I'd probably have to go with The Game or Midwich. I really don't like 2 story maps. I don't mind maps where the building has a 2nd floor or where it just feels kinda that way (Hawkins)... but its just annoying when the Survivor is right above you, but they're a 15-20s hike away. Also I use Whispers a lot and that perk is so bad on 2 story maps. Similarly its annoying to hear the Killers heartbeat and not know if you are in trouble or are fine because the Killer is on the other floor.

Also... my opinion on maps changes depending on which Killer I'm on. If I'm on Legion or Pig or other short killers, the swamp is a pain. On Huntress or Deathslinger I am very much hoping I don't get an indoor map.

Shelter Woods. It’s basically loop the outer ring, get f’ed in the middle. Boring map

I’m used to the corn I guess. I’m worried about them reworking maps. Badham 3.0 is a death trap. Wasn’t a fan of Yamoaka 2.0.

Delete - The game - It is just crap imo. Horrible for survivors and not enjoyable as a killer. The terror radius is pretty annoying as its on most of the time and you have no idea which floor the killer is on.

The gigantic maps, because they're gigantic.

Don't like it as Wraith, but also don't like it as a mostly-repairing Survivor.

  • Carlosylu
    Carlosylu Member Posts: 2,948

Yep, same here Boss, just making them smaller would be nice

Delete Lery's because it ugly. I liked the old version far better (also the square version was more balanced)

Also, delete all Yamaoka maps because they have sucky collision, poor pallet density, too-good LOS, and terrible visuals. Oh, and dearth of lockers.

The gigantic maps because they're designed around Hillbilly/Nurse/Oni/Other killers who can cross large distances quickly. Personally, I like Midwich, Saloon and The Game. These three maps feel very fair to me with my only complaint for Saloon being that vault builds are incredibly strong on it.

Rework both of them. That post was shortly after a bad game on Haddonfield, so my negative feelings towards it were amplified there. Ormond was just collateral damage. I like the idea of a snowy map.

Ormond makes me drop frames. I was so excited when I saw the artwork for the map, and I was extremely disappointed when the map actually came out. Like, why is the sky so bright?
