Why Killers can grab survivors off generators?

So killers can grab survivors off generator when they are healthy. Why can’t them do the same when healthy survivors vault a pallet or window?

you can grab them off window and pallets its just more tricky to do then gen grabbing and even then gen grabbing is diffcult due to dedicated servers

Because survivor vaulting a window or pallet in a chase is inevitible. it will happen, and doing so whilst being aware of the killer has no counterplay.

grabbing someone off a gen is a way to promote pressure, along with making the objective risky. the chase shouldn't be any more risky than it is, and grabbing injured survivors off a window or a pallet is made difficult by them being aware. if you could just grab people vaulting why would they vault when they would drop and run around every pallet, and only ever EVER vault when your out of range for a grab.

the way this is implemented actually promotes taking risky vaults, and making risky hits (and misses as killer)

Nope, Helathy grabs is only possible on gens and lockers. For vaulting they need to be injured, on windows they also have to medium or slow vault

grabbing is bad since dedicated servers. you get alot of times your grab animation, but the surv can still run. so you lose the grab as well as the hit. thats why i trie to avoid grabs.

No, vault grabs are just inconsistent. They can happen, latency just doesn't allow for it to happen nearly often enough.

Because a grab puts someone in the dying state. Being grabbed off a gen is fair enough because it stems from a survivor mistake (not paying attention or being greedy), and grabbing from lockers makes sense because it’s a risk/reward decision to hide in a locker.

But grabbing a healthy survivor when they vault a pallet or window would be too strong, vaults are a requirement if the survivor wants to last more than 10 seconds in a chase. L/T walls would be a death sentence, for example. It would kill mind games and the dynamic feel of a good chase, the most efficient way to play would be to just run after the survivor until you were humping them and then grab them when they tried to vault. And for survivors the efficient way to play would be to run in a straight line and drop every pallet early, which both sides hate already.

What im saying though is despite that, if you could just instantly down with every killer by grabbing a survivor at a vault why would you not do that? would encourage people to just run in a straight line and throw pallets and never vault lol

The reason it doesn't happen to healthy survivors with vaulting is because the survivor is doing what they're supposed to be doing: Running away.

The reason it happens to healthy survivors on generators is because they're not doing what they're supposed to be doing: Running away.

If you actually let the killer get close enough to grab you while working on a generator, you have fundamentally messed up. You must always be alert and ready to move. Even if you see the killer a split second before he gets to you, once you stop touching the gen you're good to go.

And trust me, most killers hate generator grabs anyway because as has been said, they often result in us stuck in a grab animation for a survivor who's already running, so instead of a free down we don't even get a hit and the survivor has gained distance on us. It really sucks when it doesn't work. I'm working on a rift challenge to grab 6 survivors off generators and hoo boy it's progressing slowly. 4/6.

I've been vault grabbed in the past 2 weeks. felt dumb but had to try.

People get rewarded for bad vaults all the time, the momentum system behind fast vaults is way too forgiving as is. Sure, if they are injured, they are down, but if they are healthy? A grab would be very punishing.
