An abundance of slugging for the "4K"

Is it just me or have killers slugged the 2nd last survivor for the 4k every single game. I get it, you want to get the 4k and I am okay if you slug and know where the survivor is or if you think you know where it is. But when you slug then I pick them up 1-4 times and you continue to slug is where I get annoyed. The worst is when I get into a locker to encourage the killer to hook so that I can finally get out of the game and they decide to just slug instead for that precious 4K.

I understand it is optimal but from a survivor perspective it is honestly one of the parts of the game that annoy me the most. I would rather be facecamped by a bubba or tunneled by a legacy P3 nurse so that I can at least get into a different game. However sitting on the ground doing nothing while the killer tries to find the last survivor (or until I bleed out which happens) is just plain awful.

Now I am curious to how they could make this better, I understand why it is done so that the last survivor doesn't get lucky and find the hatch (or is just waiting for their teammate to die). Personally I think it would be healthy for the game if when two survivors were left and one of them is in dying state that there is a button that can cause you to bleed out faster (such as 2 times faster which would be 2 minutes of dying over 4 minutes). As I feel one of the worst feelings in any game is having to wait around for your teammates to die while doing nothing for an extended period of time.

I am curious if anyone has any ideas or possibly shares my view of how unfun just waiting can be, especially when 99% of the time I just want out of the game. Hopefully something can be done to either speed up the process or even change it up so that it doesn't happen nearly as often.

It is a flaw in the game. I have, after seeing how the game can extend, given up on this tactic in my normal course of gameplay as even I as killer find it super boring.

However, there are circumstances that required all four survivors sacrificed. The third tome that was released last week includes a "sacrifice all survivors by any means" challenge. This may be why you're having the "is it just me" moment. Also, today I worked on my Adept Nightmare challenge. So slugging is part of the requirement for guaranteeing the Adept.

I agree. That can be boring. But the killer might do it for a variety of reasons. Maybe he thinks he wouldn't pip if he gets a 3k. Maybe he's doing an adept challenge and wants a 4k to ensure merciless. Maybe he's just grinding for points.

It's just killer's way of cheesing the random hatch mechanic. Reminds me of survivors who 99% the gates to cheese EGC even though it's just meant to end the game without anyone holding it hostage.

I didn't mean to imply that they are doing it in order to make the game boring or didn't have a reason. I just feel that it is a big flaw that should be addressed, and I don't blame killers for doing it. The objective is to kill the 4 survivors, doing this increases the chances. Even if they spiced up the endgame or even would "penalize" the killer less for a survivor getting out of the hatch.

Yeah, slugging for the 4k is extremely boring. I played a match like that recently against a Legion and it lasted like 40 minutes because he could never find us both at the same time and I picked up the other player every time they were downed.

I agree completely, personally I don't like the culture of the 99% an exit gate to cheese EGC. I think they could definitely change the way the exit gates are interacted with to help remedy this so that slugging the second last person for a long duration isn't as grueling. There are other issues like keys/moris but at least they get it over with quickly so that you can get into another game. I feel they could rework hatch a bit to help make it feel like it isn't as necessary.

Well I mean to. It is boring for both parties involved. By just sacrificing the third survivor, fourth either gets out relatively quickly or dies relative quickly. Then everyone gets to start another trial. This has been the best path for me. It's probably blood point efficient, too, with less 'dead' time.

Let me add/re-emphasize that it is a flaw in the game that slugging the third is practically a requirement to try to guarantee a 4k. That's not because killers want to be boring and would agree that players should not face criticism for a game design flaw.

I hate having to slug for the 4k as a red rank killer however more than likely you arent going to be able to 3 hook every survivor, so I'm going to try and get as many points as I can so I care make sure I at least safety pip.

Also too many survivors are stubborn as hell and won't accept that they lost. 3 gens left with 2 survivors up, one goes off and hides and waits for the other to die. If it comes down to one survivor trying to at least do the gens and the other is just hiding, I'll let the survivor who is still trying to play escape and make sure I kill the coward survivor who is expecting hatch.
