I went back to Xbox to play a match and...my god, how do you guys do it?

I made the switch to PC early this year. I get an "almost" solid 60 frames. I've heard that console has gotten worse since 4.1, but I've been on PC since then. For context, I started playing DBD on PS4, on December of 2017. I then transitioned to Xbox some time early 2019 and now PC. The frames on the Xbox X were slightly better than that of the original consoles, which to me seemed amazing at the time. Now, since adjusting to PC gaming, my eyes have fully adjusted to 60fps. Trying current DBD out again on console was...definitely an experience. The frames were choppy, the textures somehow looked worse and the game felt like it was running on low settings, but without the fps boost.
Now, it wasn't unplayable, but I could not wait to get back to PC and feel normality again. BHVR, jesus christ, the least you could do is optimise the game now before it moves on to next gen, but I doubt that will happen. I still remember back in 2018 when the "promise" was made to release an optimisation patch in December, but then it was delayed and...nothing came of it. The fact that you guys have to put up with that BS is ridiculous, especially when you are consumers, just like the rest of us. When someone said the devs treat console players like dirt, I don't think they were lying. My heart goes out to you all.

Literally exactly the same here. Went back yesterday to finish this Rift as I'm keeping xbox as my main save until (hopefully) xbox gets cross saves. I'd been playing Wraith on PC all day. Played some doctor on xbox and wanted to kill myself after the 1st game. Oh my god even the colours are so bad let alone the framerate. So much darker and more drab despite the same display. I always knew the optimisation was terrible the whole time I was playing but oh my god how is this your product.

Yeah, it could just be that I was so used to it back then, but if what people are saying is true, and that 4.1 made it worse, they certainly aren't lying.
7 -
Well,it would be sooooo much better if they could at least fix the FPS drops.
Can't tell you how many times blood lust screwed me over >:(
11 -
Your issue is you went to X Box, PS is better ^^ :)
1 -
Eh I'm used to it lol
3 -
Yeah the fps drops are incredibly annoying. At the very least it would be nice to have the option to exclude PC from cross-play, but of course a fix would be more appropriate, especially since the devs said it would happen.
6 -
I don't. Uninstalled the game. Devs won't enable mouse and keyboard on console, which would help make up a bit for the FPS issues so I'm done. There's no excuse for the garbage optimization. Plenty of games have better graphics and run on the consoles at a decent frame rate. Also, every once in a blue moon the game actually does run smoothly (one out of every 100 games, is my estimate) so its really just sad.

Appreciate you PCrs giving your input about the current console experience. I hope it explains why players like me turned off Crossplay, and why we are hoping for some relief soon.
To any of you PCrs who have left consoles a while ago, or have only played on PC, please please please hit up a friend who has DBD on console and give it a go. Especially killer. And maybe give your thoughts as well.
We all have passion for this game, and i for one hope there can be near-same gaming experiences for us all no matter how we enter the fog.

I mean, I was playing on an xbox one x which is considerably stronger than the PS4 and Ps4 pro and the optimisation was just as terrible.
8 -
Oh I straight up turned off crossplay minutes after returning to Xbox. Didn't affect my killer queue times at all.
5 -
Depends on what games you play.

I mean, the X could do native 4K which the pro can't. Not to start a console war. But thats the fax.
3 -
But people bought the pro, and people make games for the pro :)

@A_Can_Of_Air Console players don't know any other way, lol. It's nice to have PC players step in and validate the issue exists instead of 'filthy console players' making excuses for not being gud.
12 -
Uhh.. You know exclusives are called that for a reason, right?

Thanks OP for sharing your experience. I have played DBD on the PlayStation 4 ever since it became 'free' on ps plus. The framerate took a dive for me ever since the Legion chapter and it hasn't got any better with more recent chapters. I have a 5 year old gaming laptop and I get decent framerate on low graphics, it's inexcusable that the performance is terrible on PlayStation 4. What makes it worse is we were promised 60 FPS on current gen consoles which to this day we are still waiting...
5 -
I seriously slow there is a patch or that they are working on this, the amount of concentration i have to rely on is insane!!
1 -
I’m on PS4, and I guess myself and other PS4 DBD players must just have an inhuman amount of tenacity and persistence.
And on a personal note I’m just hanging on for the next few months to get PS5 on launch, transfer all my DBD content, and HOPE and PRAY the game performs at LEAST 3 to 5 times better on next gen.
5 -
If they seriously think they can get away with the next gen versions not running in at least 2K at ultra 60fps they're very bold indeed.
2 -
Crossplay does improve the queue times for survivor a bit (killer has always been fast), but overall I agree that there's not much different.

Thank you! Really appreciate PC players trying out the game play on consoles and seeing how poorly the console version is playing. This is why console players were so upset when that post was closed, we just want our version optimized on to fix the FPS issues that are only getting worse. It also needs to happen in current gen, not just next gen - not everyone is going to buy a next gen at launch, many will wait until after the first batches go out incase there are issues that need to be fixed or until its financially viable to drop $500+ on a new console.

I've never been able to fathom why people like that exist. At the end of the day, we are all gamers. Just because your system is superior, it doesn't necessarily mean you are. It's probably because I've been a console gamer for the majority of my life, but the "PC elitists" don't even seem to have a life of their own (sounds harsh but the comments they throw at people who are just trying to enjoy gaming, regardless of platform, is gross)
4 -
The people who took the "pc master race" thing beyond a joke and just incorporated it into their personality are so f*cking dull
4 -
I don’t care about the resolution. If they can make it look better, then great.
MAs long as mechanically/performance wise I’m not cheated out of hits due to random FPS drops, or the crappy aim dressing.
5 -
How do we do it? We don't. Not anymore. Uninstalled a few days ago. Probably will come back at some point. (Obv I'm still lurking on the forums...) Will DEFINITELY come back if cross saves between PC and PS is ever enabled. I'd play this game on PC in a heartbeat, but can't stomach the idea of starting over after 3 years.
6 -
*laughs in Nintendo Switch fps*
4 -
i can't afford a proper pc so it's not like i have a choice
2 -
Ah yes our Switch brothers and sisters we love y'all the most. Stay strong gamers!
May the frames be with you!
6 -
If you thought the frames were normally bad oh my God as soon as you get bloodlust as killer your frames completely die every single time. That clip is my own I have very good connection and I'm on the Xbox one X and it really is that bad.
3 -
We have MAD GRIT, that's how.

I play on xbox one x, ps4 and PC. Mostly on xbox but when I play a few games on the PC and then go back to xbox it's so jarring. I dont understand why they dont acknowledge this. Its frustrating, knowing this game should play so much better. I really dont see how new systems will be any different.

I am 13 and this is very deep

Is it just me, or are skill checks a lot laggier on xbox? It feels like there's a one second delay when I hit a skill check. I tried to go back to xbox this past weekend and quit mid-game. Just an overall terrible experience.
2 -
Part wise the series x is stronger than the ps4 and not mention all the exclusives it's getting. In other words stop trying to start console wars, who cares what console you like tis preference.
2 -
I play on both PC and Xbox one X and have never had any problems with console play. Curious. Admittedly my work schedule has kept me from playing much lately. Is the console problem on every map or only on specific one? The little I have been able play has seemed fine so far.
1 -
Oh I wasn't jail bird ^^ I would of made paragraph after paragraph by now if I had intended too :)

LOL!!!!

I have recently transitioned to PC from Xbox and yes so happy with the smoother nicer looking gameplay but..........
I have all killers/survivors on Xbox and all survivors lvl 50.
I just don't have the patience and spare 1000 hours to unlock on PC
C'mon cross progression, hurry up!!
2 -
M&K Support won't make FPS better, neither increasing the sensitivity did.
Which makes sense. You will notice bad FPS way more with higher sensitivity, esp. in first-person.
2 -
I'm not prestiging any of my characters (apart from Blight) since I have every character prestiged across both Xbox and PS4. Cross progression can't come soon enough. There's outfits I own exclusively on both of those platforms as well. My wardrobe will be huge when I can own them all on one platform.

I too play on an Xbox1x and my experience has been steadily declining over the last year, and made much worse with the last two patches (chainsaw bros reworks and the one after).
Always present are the frame drops from any status effect triggering, like bloodlust, exposed, sloppy, etc. A gen popping near, close unhooks, and searching chests are problematic and possibly deadly if you're on a hook in struggle. Many others have posted on various threads here about their console experiences lately check them out.
As far as maps go, the indoor ones are the biggest offenders. These maps are frame drop havens, made worse by fog offerings, and Lery's is most conspicuous. Dr blasts here for instance will likely freeze the game for a few seconds, as will Hag trap teleporting. Surviving is not easy on any of them, but killing is almost impossible.
2 -
I don't see much of a difference. I play on PC, PS4 an Switch. Between PS4 and PC the game works well on both ends. Now on Switch, that's a different story. I cannot play killer at all

This is so true. I've been playing console since it came out on console and the optimisation has just never happened and never will. But don't worry they'll still gladly take your money in dlc and skins, rift passes. They don't care about us console players enough. Now there just skipping to next gen which is bs. I'm not buying a whole new console just to have the optimisation they have kept on promising us. Other games can do it so there is no excuse for the devs.
4 -
Ya thanks for validating what every console player says...console players play the way they do because they had to adapt the playstyle to how hard it is to play with console frames and graphics and a controller on top of that. So before any pc player wants to complain about console players being scrubs...you must first grind to red ranks (both on survivor and killer) on console....after that you can.

Here’s something a lot of folks are taking for granted with the new Xbox and PlayStation consoles: who actually thinks bhvr can optimize those? There some pc gamers who have posted about dbd not running smoothly on pc. I have absolutely no confidence in bhvr to do anything with the potato coders they have working there.
dont fall into the “sunk cost fallacy” and buy a new console because you have thousands of hours on legacy platforms.
4 -
True the devs have failed to do so up to now so honestly I can see the next gen versions of the game flopping badly if they don't have anything better about them. Maybe a loss of money is what it'll take to get them to invest in good coders and balance designers.
4 -
Maybe I'm wrong, but I get the feeling they are riding on the next gen consoles being powerful enough to carry the console version of the game from performing poorly to performing...at the very bare minimum that it should perform (e.g at least 50fps). It wouldn't surprise me if the next gen version just flops as well, but at the same time I do have a little bit of faith that it will run as it should.
The issue is that it's been TWO YEARS since they acknowledged the poor performance on consoles, and when you look at other games, they run just fine. Why is a game from 2016 acting like it's a next gen title trying to run on a PS3? My only explanation is poor coding and it's too difficult and time consuming for them to properly fix, hence the abundance of bugs and glitches in the game that make a monthly cycle, since old ones get squashed and new ones appear.
After a while it really does come across that they don't care about console. Two years since they acknowledged it, and it's currently worse than it was then, honey...I can't. Feels like a kick to the gut, and I ain't even on console anymore.

You are right

As long as it ain't the real thing does it really matter?
