How do you counter iron will as spirit without stridor?
It's a genuine question. How do you track survivors with iron will?
I know you can hear footsteps, breathing, scratch marks and grass movement, but nothing seems to work for me.
Footsteps: if survivors stop running, it's literally cannot be heard from my experience
Scratch marks: again, stop running, and it disappears. Also it's delayed, which really mess up my tracking.
Breathing: i can't hear it if they're not running. I think with iron will even removes breathing.
Grass movement: not every map has grass, and it's only reliable in some specific condition.
You may say prediction, but if it's out in open, it's very hard to predict survivor's movement because they have so many ways to go.
So any pro tips?

Father’s Glasses + Bloodhound

tell that to the colorblind players

... you don't see blood during phasing without ultra rare add-ons..

OhTofu's newest video features the Spirit's Ultra Rare Add-on Father's Glasses, which shows blood while in Yamaoka's Haunting

You don't need Bloodhound with Father's Glasses, because blood already glows when she's phasing.

Short quick phases.

I've heard puppers recommend that, too. Stopping it halfway to catch someone trying to double back.

I find it crazy the amount of people that complain about Spirit and then show they have no idea how she actually even works. Like recommending you follow the blood..without even realizing she can't do that without running an ultra-rare addon. They think that's in her base kit...
I think it just shows how they haven't actually played Spirit at any decent level to have a balanced opinion.
Anyway, for your question OP, you don't...
For how much people complain about Stridor countering Iron Will, if she didn't run it she is left completely guessing their movement.
That's why it's a double edged sword when people say Stridor shouldn't counter Iron Will.

Scratch marks are delayed, so there're actually no telling when survivors will be double back.
So it's actually guessing at this point. You guess if they double back or not. It's 50 / 50

That's what i feel like. Spirit without stridor against iron will is the same as survivors without iron will against spirit with stridor
I think both of them needs to be changed.

That's why I think a good change would be:
While phasing Spirits footsteps are significantly louder. She will in turn have the speed of her phasing increased and its cooldown reduced.
This does 2 things.
Now she has more skilled counter play, as the survivors can hear her direction and location.
However to compensate for a weaker 1v1, she now has improved map pressure and mobility.

I would actually suggest changes to both iron will and stridor, and change how painful sound works on spirit, like quieter.
Plus the thing you suggest, she's good to go actually..
Otherwise playing her is like stridor is required, and playing against her, iron will is required.

I see your issues with Stridor and Iron Will.
How exactly would you go about fixing them though?
Iron Will is also meta good against all killers at least (it's in the top 5 most ran perks and that would be the case even if Spirit didn't exist). Meanwhile Stridor is garbage on anyone but Spirit. I'd like if Stridor was similarly useful to more killers as well.

Its possible. I've done it myself a lot of times. It requires a lot more liberal use of short phases. Long phases work with breathing/injured sounds because a survivor will panic as they know they're most likely screwed. If they see you dont have stridor and they have IW they'll try to fake you out way more.

You can see the grass move when survivors are walking/running through it, also try using scratch marks and breathing.

Get better headphones.
On a more helpful note, phase in shorter burst instead of one long phase. I believe ScottJund did a video about it.
So you would phase in a short burst to the scratch marks and do a quick look around, most likely the survivor will be there/close since you know, they have to walk.

They way I do it is the moment I stop hearing their footsteps or breathing to stop phasing. Survivors usually go against spirits that use their full phase, they don't expect you to stop midway through. If it sounds like there footsteps are really close then there's usually no point to stay in phase just to be sure they're right next to you as her post phase lunge should be enough to get to them if they decide to double-back, make sharp turns, or just stop moving entirely to hide. If you're both at a loop pay attention if any sound is made, such as them walking to the left or right, walking away from the pallet, or slowly vaulting it. I'd recommend a video guide, but alot of them are either outdated or don't discuss iron will.

I literally just explained about those things in my posts..
Sometimes they are not available, or just don't work

Change them to complete different perks

Oh sorry, maybe you can use breathing when iron will isn't bugged.

Like nothing related to sound at all?

I think many people forget that perdicting you opponent is a thing in this game, just used senses and good judgement and you should get them a majority of the time without stridor

I think it would be the best option. Sound is quite crucial in this game, and iron will eliminates it with no downside is just too much imo. As you said, it's not only used to against spirit, but other killer as well. It basically negates the downside of being injured besides blood, which can be hard to see sometimes.
On the other hand, stridor is almost completely useless except on spirit. Both of them needs to be worked on.

By predicting instead of tracking. You aren't supposed to use her power for hits, but for positioning.

scratchmarks, blood, grass moving

Well an issue I see with that is that I can't imagine them ever removing Iron Wills function. It is just a heavily used perk and generally considered one of the most balanced meta perks we have. It also promotes more exciting jukes and fun game play mid chase.
I mean Iron Will would probably make my top 3 most balanced survivor perks in the game honestly. It's terrible if you're bad and great if you're good.

If they're smart, you can't do much about it. It's why people who claim it's OP don't realise it's actually a NECESSITY to play Spirit.
You can follow scratch marks obviously but if they don't move or there's not much grass in the map you have to completely guess their movement. No input on their side whatsoever.
In a less detrimental situation though, look out for grass, and try to keep your phases short so you have enough time to react if they decide to stand still or move to a different tile.

you listen for footsteps, its very easy to hear if you pay attention
edit; ik you said they can stop moving, but at that point its just reading them
